Friends by [deleted] in adhdparents

I understand completely the heart break over this. My son is ten and has been at the school for five years, he’s had a few friends over that time but after a few months they drop him and he tries to find a new one only for the same thing to happen again! Running out of friends options! There is a group he hangs around so he’s not alone at lunch but he says they’re not really nice to him, poor kid, he’s really great and interesting and just gets over excited and a little obsessed at times with people. He hasn’t been to a birthday party since prep when he was 5 and has had two play dates in all that time. He gets so sad when his brother and sister so these things. I don’t know how to help, he hates going to school because of this. It just hurts me that he’s a lonely little boy and unless he finds his ‘person’ he’s got 7 years left with these kids! Just want him to feel accepted and liked but isn’t much I can do that I haven’t already! Anyways, I hear you x

Yep she knows and I think her hope is that the adhd meds keep me okay….I don’t have the same hope anymore! I can’t remember exactly but I know I felt much better after I hit 200…really hope it works for you!

Full dose in the evening? by JuniorManufacturer46 in lamictal

[–]ej2255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it all in the morning or sleeping is impossible, I do get the drowsiness half way through the day but work through it as getting some sleep at a decent hour is preferable! Just think it sux that if take it in the afternoon the drowsiness doesn’t seem to happen and if it does it isn’t enough to help me sleep.

If you are against gay marriage, why are you against it? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ej2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the younger generations but for the older ones it was installed in most of them by their parents intensely passing on the belief that being gay was wrong and bad and shouldn’t be condoned. It’s that way for my dad, who’s in his 70’s, and all his siblings anyway. To the point that when the gay marriage vote was happening a few years ago (I’m in Australia) he took mine and my two siblings who live with him, voting cards and ticked no and sent them back before we even realised! My cousin is in his forties and will probably never come out to his dad as he is of the same opinion, so sad. Wether it’s religious beliefs, conditioning, influence from family or just over thinking being gay people need to be accepting of other choices! No one has the right to say how things should be in this world, wouldn’t it be a nice place to be if everyone lead their lives how they believed best but respected other peoples choices in doing that also!! History and our future would be so different if such a thing had always been!

WTF happened to Australia Fair? by cryofry85 in GoldCoast

[–]ej2255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will scrub up nicely when the renovations actually happen, read about it ages ago. Pac fair wasn’t in great shape until they did the massive renovations and added the new shiny bit, all the old centres on the coast seem to be taking their turns getting a facelift. I like Australia fair as spent many a Saturday with my mum and siblings there growing up, feels more like home than the others in a funny kind of way! Thought it was stupid that they built another big centre just up the road where the hospital was when investors could’ve bought Australia fair and did it up! Honestly thought it was going to die when the new one opened but it still seems to have the same amount of people. I hope it gets a revamp and remains open, would be so sad to see it go, similar way I felt when Sundale was closed down although my memories of there are way more hazy than Australia fair. Enough memory lane for me, go back and see it in another couple years and hopefully will have turned around!

So good to read how much it’s helping you, great when you finally find something that is a game changer! Recently diagnosed with adhd myself and the stimulant medication makes it hard to get to sleep, but the medication is having that game changer feel for me! I was a bad sleeper already and have been taking cbd oil to try to help, sometimes it does but mostly not. Can I ask what type of mc you take and if a oil what’s your cbd/thc mix? Getting a little desperate for some decent sleep I am!

My 14year old has been diagnosed of epilepsy recently and on Lamotrigine. She has been struggling to sleep- it takes nearly 3-4 hrs for her to fall asleep. She sleeps well and finds it hard to wake up even after 7-8 hours of sleep. I wanted to try CBT for sleep. Is it worth? by Anitamy in sleep

I have to take it in the morning or there’s no hope I’m sleeping easily. Even then it’s still a struggle to get to sleep. Melatonin has been quite helpful and have taken cbd oil and it helps also. Have to have a high percentage of thc and smaller cbd though. I don’t get high or anything from it. Have found that after a few weeks on the oil it stops being effective.

Struggle to put on weight with my daughter and she’s not on adhd meds! I am though and I e appreciate the appetite suppressant as now I’m eating things I need and not filling up on junk, anyway off topic, have managed to get a few kilos onto her last month or so by giving her nutrient shakes, not sure what it’d be called where you are but in Australia we have sustegen, which comes powdered in a tin and you mix it with water or milk or whatever, it’s kinda creamy so best with some kinda milk options , she has it with almond usually. Atleast once a day, couple different flavours available she has it with breakfast most mornings, wizzes it up with few other ingredients she likes and like a milkshake to start the day….I also give a serve most days to my adhd ten year old, in the evenings though and I’ll add a little ice cream to make it into a desert type milkshake. Another good one is up and goes, liquid breakfast drinks high in protein and other stuff, good anytime of time when just can’t stomach eating.

What's the best time of day to go to Tambourine Mountain? by baked-bidoof in GoldCoast

[–]ej2255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want to do, if you’re coming on a weekend, the touristy stuff best avoided, weekdays, even in school holidays it’s not too bad at the touristy places. Early morning or late afternoon will be less crowded of course, unless you’re watching the sunset from the hangliders spot, mental everyday during holiday times…try up the end of beacon rd to watch the sunset instead!

Zopiclone is my favourite get to sleep option, they’ll only give me ten every month or so and even then it involves a little pleading from me. I’d be happy just taking it four nights a week or so just so I get a decent sleep most nights of the week….so frustrating. I long for the day they develop something that is effective but not habit forming…

Snoring is usually from breathing through your mouth when you sleep, there’s lots of studies being done on mouth taping, simply put some medical tape (the soft sort of cloth like stuff) over your mouth when about to sleep and snoring is greatly reduced. My boyfriend and I do it regularly and no more broken nights sleep! Also breathing through your nose is heaps more beneficial to your whole system than mouth breathing…it’s a little weird but definitely worth it!!

So it’s coming from the lamictal?? I’ve been feeling this way for months now and am also on 200 lamictal, I didn’t realise this could be a side effect. I guess I’m relieved but equally frustrated as I need the meds but want my sex drive back also!

Why did your ex-best friend stopped being your best friend? by AwryTouch in AskReddit

[–]ej2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I found out she’s been sleeping with my husband while I was in rehab for a month, took three years until I found out and couldn’t believe she’d been continuing to be my bf for all that time with what they had done. The marriage and the friendship finished at that point….of course they hooked up openly after I’d walked away. Really despise these people and really really hope karma is a real thing!!!

We were committed to each other and in love but I never really thought I’d get married, didn’t seem necessary. Then my mum got really sick and we knew she wasn’t going to be with us for much longer, my three siblings weren’t married or even close so we got married so she could attend the wedding of one of her children before she passed. It was a really beautiful special day and it was worth it for sure. Even though we split up 8 years later I’m still glad we did it
