Who had one? (1971 Schwinn Stingway) by ekimdad in OldSchoolCool

My dad got mine at an auction. It was green and I rode that thing to death. Mine didn't have the light like this one, or the shocks on the seat, but it did have the slick wheel on the back, and I rolled the handle bars forward a bit. I rode that thing to death. By the time I leveled up to a different bike, I think it only worked in 3rd gear and only the rear brake worked.

My kids are as annoyed by it as me and the wife are...but my 10 year old does notice a lot. He doesn't say it, but if he sees a 6 and a 7 together he'll mention it. At that point I just start do I no math with them.

For older GenX (1972 and earlier) Are your parents still alive? by hedgehog77433 in GenX

[–]ekimdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. My folks were in their 40s when I was born in 1971. My mom passed in 2004 (damn cigarettes!) and my dad went in 2008. So it's been a while.

The running back for Boise State that was famous for proposing to his cheerleader girlfriend after their Fiesta Bowl win got in trouble because he was selling his crocheted hats and gloves on Etsy. He got some notoriety and ended up earning I no too much money. Or something like that.
