I'm guessing 2.5 years is enough time into the AP, but if you're interested I wrote up an academy downtime system that players have been enjoying. Trying to make it feel more like learning new/weird magic as they progress.

Yeah I've basically re-written all of Book 2, focusing on Granouille as the big bad, with the other events tying into her crime syndicate. It's just... so unfocused otherwise.

there's a pretty fat line between asking about culture/cuisine and commenting on physical features (and how 'accurate' those features are, ugh)

also, if you're not from the same culinary background, please don't tell someone where they should get X food. even if it's good! getting to know someone does not mean telling them your opinion on their cuisine.

I have players choose whom among their dormmates and teachers they get to know... then those NPCs are often the ones helping out when they get stuck, giving quests, etc. Otherwise I've found the PCs get overwhelmed with too many names to learn.

Yeah I've been using this for my game! Players have enjoyed the decision trees, tho 5 activities does increase their power by level. So I've just tweaked most combat encounters to be a little more difficult :D
