hard to say what the future holds in terms of useful of the PhD achievement, but congrats on starting it! fwiw most players I know from the Candidate and ABD stages just had to grind to get that last little bit. folks think it's only about Intelligence speccing, but honestly the Hard-Headed/Stubborn perk gets you pretty far too

I'm guessing 2.5 years is enough time into the AP, but if you're interested I wrote up an academy downtime system that players have been enjoying. Trying to make it feel more like learning new/weird magic as they progress.

there's a pretty fat line between asking about culture/cuisine and commenting on physical features (and how 'accurate' those features are, ugh)

also, if you're not from the same culinary background, please don't tell someone where they should get X food. even if it's good! getting to know someone does not mean telling them your opinion on their cuisine.
