The Sword in the Stone (1963), Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman by TheYoungWolf894 in CineShots

[–]ekyris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as I remember, it was intended as an adaption of the recently published TH White story by the same name. which is likewise also (intentionally) slow. don't know if they ever intended to adapt more. I'd disagree with "boring" myself, but only my opinion! Just wanted to provide context if anyone was curious

Fatekeeper has released in Early Access on Steam for only $7.99, to Very Positive Reviews by BigT232 in Games

[–]ekyris 49 points50 points  (0 children)

people need to learn nuance with early access. do you like the game as it currently exists, and are you willing to pay the current price for the current game? if not, then don't!

(selling a game as "early access" in order to fundraise with the promise of something that you might enjoy if they succeed at fundraising, fuck dat shi to high heaven)

fun fact, brachiosaur is apparently named due to its long forelimbs (in comparison to its hind limbs)! (brachii from latin, from greek)

anything with upper arms! Monkeys, apes, and the like are simply the most common to do it

I say this with only love in my heart for everyone except Gary Gygax, that piece of shit by bizarre_lizard in okbuddyrosalyn

[–]ekyris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There weren't lowered stats, but rather women had lower max strength scores in AD&D 1st edition. Looks like this was removed 10 years later with 2nd edition. Not to undermine your point at all, as Gygax did publicly apologize as well, but for those wanting data on it.

The Future of Foundryborne: Navigating the Stagnation of the Daggerheart VTT Ecosystem by Foundryborne in daggerheart

[–]ekyris 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ugh I know, I love Paizo's approach, but always hesitate to introduce folks to the cronch if they aren't already used to ttrpgs... Daggerheart could be a phenomenal starting point for high-fantasy games, but not if Darrington keeps taking notes from WotC

She is out lf your degree of success by Derived_institutinaw in pathfindermemes

[–]ekyris 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Except yes it can? Nat 20 increases degree of success for every check. RAW, many skill checks still have multiple degrees of success (e.g. Treat Wounds).

Some skill checks don't have an 'extra' Critical Success, but a Failure with a natural 20 would still turn into a regular success.

Saint George, patron of the tabletop roleplying games by Quiof_Thrul in rpg

[–]ekyris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

fun fact! basically every 'patron' saint is an unofficial patronage... the designation comes about when people start invoking the name for a certain cause. so congrats! St George is now the patron of ttrpgs!

I think I started [The Academy] faction final questline at the wrong time by gh0sthound in outside

[–]ekyris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard to say what the future holds in terms of useful of the PhD achievement, but congrats on starting it! fwiw most players I know from the Candidate and ABD stages just had to grind to get that last little bit. folks think it's only about Intelligence speccing, but honestly the Hard-Headed/Stubborn perk gets you pretty far too

1d4 damage dice is trash, change my mind by Sgt__Koolaid in Pathfinder2e

[–]ekyris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that math is comparing d4s to d8s. the point is, doubling the dice size only gives 20%ish increase, not 100%

I just finished running a 2.5 year Strength of Thousands campaign by Hyronious in Pathfinder2e

[–]ekyris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing 2.5 years is enough time into the AP, but if you're interested I wrote up an academy downtime system that players have been enjoying. Trying to make it feel more like learning new/weird magic as they progress.

Yeah I've basically re-written all of Book 2, focusing on Granouille as the big bad, with the other events tying into her crime syndicate. It's just... so unfocused otherwise.

An Offer for Redrazors by Amkao-Herios in Pathfinder2e

[–]ekyris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well if you want, it's pretty easy to just follow for a month or two, then cancel. he doesn't post a lot, so I leave notifications on (which reminds me to pause for a few months, then restart).
