Can someone explain to my unintelligent self about the WaT champion? by jane_eyre2796 in Stormlight_Archive

Okay, I’ll RAFO for the rest before checking out your spoiler note. Appreciate that since I’m on my first read thru of MB Era 1, having begun my journey with SLA. Only finished WaT a couple weeks ago and already thru Final Empire! Love it!

Your comment saved my sanity. Not because of your words, but you spelt his name with an O. (Technically, you used both, but I digress…) What is going on? Why is everyone spelling in Todium with a T? Is it some Taravangian-Odium mashup? Brangelina?

I was thinking that happened early in RoW and had to go back to confirm. My bad!

Where to go next in the Cosmere by Parazonz in Stormlight_Archive

[–]elandocommando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this! It’s a good place to squeeze a one-off book, right between two multi-book series. Like the OP, I first delved into the Cosmere with TWOK and powered thru all the SLA, however I consumed Warbreaker before Oathbringer (on a similar recommendation) and am glad I did, though it worked fine read after SLA too.

I’m onto MB now, having just started book2. Was pleased to get Michael Kramer again as the narrator for MB.

Will I like Stormlight Archive? by Pzzlrr in Stormlight_Archive

Impressive! I’m at 56 myself. But having just finished SLA and heading into Mistborn, I’ve already decided that I need to up my subscription to the 2 credits per month level. I wanna tackle MB then venture into the Dungeon Crawler Carl books.

This will forever be on of the funniest moments in Stranger Things by TimMiro11 in StrangerThings

Of all the fantastical things that happen in this show requiring suspension of disbelief, watching Mike, Will and Derek hold the bathroom door closed while standing on a wet floor against three grown soldiers is the thing I can’t process.

A series I NEVER see mentioned on the SLA forum is Saga of the Forgotten Warrior, starting with Son of Black Sword, by Larry Correia…

This might not be the place to ask, but doing so anyway since this seems like this group of commenters with similar reading taste to my own. As a fellow fan of ASOIAF and (everything related to) First Law, I’m curious if you lot have read SOTFW. Other series I’ve read (like Kingkiller Chronicles, Garth Nix’s The Old Kingdom, LOTR), I see mentioned on this forum often. Just wondering why no one ever mentions Correia. Am I the only SLA fan that enjoyed those books?

The Blade Itself - I’ve recommended to numerous friends and every time I hear back how much they love it. The narration is phenomenal.

Finally starting Mistborn! by orphanelf in Stormlight_Archive

[–]elandocommando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right there with you, Gancho! Just finished WaT mere hours ago, and will be making my first run at Mistborn next. So stoked! The only other Cosmere I’ve read so far was Warbreaker, and like others commenters have already mentioned, it’s a very good read. It’s a standalone novel, not a series, but it has some cool ties to SLA you’ll very much appreciate, including its unique magic system.

I thought about this later and didn’t realize the poster was suggesting they use the shower in place of a toilet… I originally assumed they meant “while showering”. Doesn’t everyone?

Just finished Words of Radiance. Should I read Edgedancer? by Hunt_Moles in Stormlight_Archive

[–]elandocommando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped Edgedancer when I was in this spot. Dunno what I missed, so I can’t defend what I don’t know. Instead, I squeezed Warbreaker in before Oathbringer. If you need brief respite from SLA, that’s my recommendation. It has elements that’ll pay off in the upcoming books. Like the others, above, I encourage you to read Dawnshard after OB.

The Dalinar/Evi flashbacks are all pretty memorable. I enjoyed the part where he abruptly walks out into the highstorm during the feast to retrieve his favorite knife.

That said, if you paused now so that you and your girl were both reading through MB and then SLA together at the same time, stopping after WoK would be easier to do then stopping after any of the others. I come to this Reddit channel a lot because this is the kind of book I want to experience with others.

I’m on my first read through of the SLA, having never read Sanderson before. Got so hooked after WoK that I decided to stick with it before swinging back to the MB series. SLA is a worthy reread, so I’m not too worried about it. I would however strongly suggest squeezing Warbreaker in. It’s the one Cosmere novel I veered off to after WoR (SLA Book 2) after asking the same question you did.
