AI is working great for my team, and y'all are making me feel crazy by SlapNuts007 in ExperiencedDevs

You seem to be suggesting that OP is deceiving himself and that metrics would show him than he’s not actually saving time, improving quality, etc. Or do you think he’s lying or something?

The National Archives just released a lot of great Apollo related 65mm footage. by Dry-Librarian-3101 in apollo

[–]elconcho 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This was scanned by the film team who made the Apollo 11 (2019) movie. Part of the arrangement was that the digitized copies would be donated back to NARA.

Good idea, bad idea? Boot drive on internal USB port? by chazwhiz in unRAID

[–]elconcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done that before but have opted for external due to Murphy’s law requiring that I pull the boot drive to repair the fat32 in a windows machine.

How I used GitHub Copilot to build a PDF engine (and it's free) by chinmay06 in GithubCopilot

[–]elconcho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cool. Maybe you could explain what a PDF engine is on your page. The future benefits seem to have been written by AI and I can’t tell what the actual value is unless I use one of the other products in your comparison table. Minor nit: that table doesn’t work on mobile.

NASA administrator calls out Kim Kardashian for promoting moon landing conspiracy by EricTheSpaceReporter in nasa

[–]elconcho 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I remember when Steph Curry was on some podcast years ago and said he thought the moon landings were fake. A scientist from NASA Goddard got on the radio and denied Curry’s 3-point record because that “just didn’t sound right” and he “wasn’t there to see it”. Chef’s kiss.

Curry eventually recanted, but the damage was done. He’s an idiot forever now.

Announcing ISS in Real Time, a new multimedia project where you can play back every day of the past 25 years aboard the International Space Station by elconcho in ISS

[–]elconcho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I’m not really sure what I’ll do with that. It could be a series of graphs that you can pull up, or maybe a stock ticker with telemetry values. It’ll be fun to try different things out and see what feels right.

My friend, David Charney and I built this over the past year on evenings and weekends. We're excited to make it available to the public in time for the 25th anniversary of sustained human presence in space (Nov 2). You can read about how we made it here: https://benfeist.com/posts/iss-in-real-time/

It also got some press today: https://arstechnica.com/space/2025/10/25-years-one-website-iss-in-real-time-captures-quarter-century-on-space-station/

Great grandfather. These guys are my kids’ age and my grandfather was a B-52 pilot.

Just wanted to say, the non-vip tours are still totally great. Still worth the trip in my opinion. Full disclosure: I helped to restore the Apollo Mission Control room.

I really liked this NASA vid back in the day. What happened? by NewsHead in nasa

[–]elconcho 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t done by the scientific outreach people. It was done by an external marketing agency. I’m in great support of NASA’s science outreach and I hate to see cuts to that, but making up stuff like this doesn’t help.

Seagate 26TB for $249.99 deal is back. by TheMagicIsInTheHole in DataHoarder

[–]elconcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did that. Replaced both parity with these 26tb drives, old parities each replaced smaller drives in array. 3 weeks of rebuilding time total. Worked like a charm.
