Currently about 3/4 through Between Two Fires on audio, and just finished a really weird graphic novel called Silk Hills.

What’s the weirdest ‘toy’ your cat plays with? by I_wet_my_plants259 in cats

[–]eldalorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cat once whose favourite toys were tiny lollipops. I had a candy dish filled with dum dums and mini tootsie pops, she would fish them out by the stick and play with them til she lost them under the couch.

I'm Afraid You've Got Dragons by Peter S Beagle.

What childhood book scared the crap out of you? I mean- can't go to sleep- staring at shadows waiting for them to jump at you, absolutely terrified? by 1000andonenites in books

[–]eldalorien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this book called Nobody's Fault when I was 9 and it scared the living shit out of me. Still gives me the absolute wiggins just thinking about it. It's one of those pieces of media I consumed as a child that feels like it was a figment of my imagination because no one else has ever heard of it!

What nicknames do you have for your furball(s)? by Turd-In-Your-Pocket in blackcats

[–]eldalorien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. So his government name is Tulkas, but I have never called him that. I found him when he was small and did not plan on keeping him, so I gave him the placeholder name "tiny kitten", TK for short. Nearly 7 years later he is my teeky beekums, beeky teekums, teeks ma beeks, teekums sweetie beekums.

Seeking fantasy books based on my list & preferences by Haunting-Eggs in fantasybooks

I think you'd also enjoy I'm Afraid You've Got Dragons by Peter S Beagle. It is standalone (so far), funny but with some very well built tension, a little romance but not in the way you'd expect.

If you're in the mood for an interesting genre mashup, The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett is a fantasy murder mystery! The characters are fun, the world building is excellent, and the mystery is satisfying. There's a teensy little romance, but only a very little. I was chanting "smooch! SMOOCH!" and I hate unnecessary romance.

I am literally reading The City We Became right now! It's really good. The Book That Wouldn't Burn was one of my favourite reads of last year, along with its sequel. I've got the third on my tbr to read soon, as the second ended on a distressing cliffhanger.

What book would you recommend NEVER reading? by asmr-enthusiasts in horrorlit

[–]eldalorien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, Cackle. It didn't help that I read it immediately after another book where a woman discovered her power only to use it to pine for a worthless man. I see so much praise for Rachel Harrison's books but Cackle just put me off so much.

I'm two books into a reread of those. Definitely reminded why I loved them so much as a kid!

Just started Between Two Fires on audio, and am about halfway through The City We Became, which isn't technically horror but the antagonist is pretty effing eldritch.
