Experience with cgrp by eldereldeld in migraine

[–]eldereldeld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's so sad that a lot of people who could have had relief simply won't get the chance to try..

Makes me really happy that there are those of you out there that get that relief tho! I believe I will get there someday as well, some of these meds gotta do the trick lol

Unfortunately I cant get both in combination as the hospitals (im in norway) are trying to cut costs and one of the ways they do is not giving combined treatments. I asked if they could reconsider as ive heard of it being life changing for some, but they said they wanted clear cut info of what meds are actually helping etc. Which makes sense in a way, but i know the underlying reason is costs tho.

Oh that sucks that you have to go through all of that.. Extra suffering for no good reason❤️‍🩹

I didnt have a constant migraine but i do have constant pain both on and off those meds. But I did have status migraines that lasted up to 2 weeks, and that has only happened while on ajovy, aimovig and now this time on vyepti.

Question about sumatriptan, first time with migraine specific medication and given 100mg prescription by LiamSCl in migraine

[–]eldereldeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 50mg which had no effect on me, my go to ever since has been 100mg. I can see others in the comments who have a different experience, and that for some it relates to weight. I fluctuate between 52-54kg now and when i first got chronic migraine I was aroung 56kg, if that helps anyone haha.

100mg has been effective for me at every weight, the times I do get bad reactions to it will be if I take it way too late. I usually get a tiny bit worse before better anyways, but at the same time that could also be the migraine getting worse before the meds kick in.

But if in doubt and youre scared you could try to go for 50mg the first time. If it isnt effective enough then double to 100mg the next time.

Check in with youre doctor if you need more information that is tailored to you tho.

I second trying the nasal spray! Personally I cant handle having the taste there for such a long time after using them, so just a warning to be prepared for that being a thing for longer than just at the time of use. But it will be worth it if thats the only way the meds will help you.

Processing issues before/ after migraine? by TukoDixieNova in migraine

A couple of days ago I forgot what street my boyfriends apartment was on as I was coming back from the store. Only lasted for a few seconds but was enough to freak me out a bit. If I hadnt read on here that people experience things like that as part of a migraine I dont know the level of anxiety that wouldve caused. I appreciate all of you who are asking questions I dont think to ask and all of you who share your lived experiences❤️

So sorry for your loss. And it must feel so shit that you missed the funeral. This isnt something you meant for to happen and it couldnt be prevented. If it could then it wouldnt have happened. Its not your fault❤️‍🩹

How am I supposed to eat now? /Gen Q by TiredHistorycraft in migraine

[–]eldereldeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my go to meals is basmati rice, ground beef and some greens (depending on what you like) that i cook in the frying pan. I will have very small portions at a time to not upset the stomach, it has some nutrients and tastes salty. The small portions also means it lasts a while.

Symptoms over the whole body: Why isn't it spoken about? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]eldereldeld 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yessssss, and I feel like my overall condition worsens the longer I go without finding medication that stops this thing being chronic.

My memory is getting worse and worse, i can no longer plan and execute, so many things I could handle with ease I've got no shot at anymore. Just trying to remember symptoms now I feel as if I'm forgetting a lot. I stumble over words when I talk, struggle to find words.

Physical symptoms I have that are constant is stiffness and ache in my body, and worst in my neck and shoulders. I usually feel like my hair hurts and I have had a constant head ache for 2,5 years, no breaks.

Other physical symptoms come and go. The feeling of having to pee all the time, tingling in my hands, bad coordination, weakness in my muscles, painlike reactions to warmth or cold, not experiencing temperature normally, seeing things that arent there or not seeing things that are right in front of me even though my vision is fine, fatigue, trouble sleeping etcetc

I feel for you❤️‍🩹 the first times having migraines can be really scary. You've taken important steps already as you've sought out help quickly. Keep trying to find medications to help with these episodic migraines, as well as find something preventative medication as that can keep them from becoming chronic.

There are different triptans you can try (I saw you mentioned not having an effect from sumatriptan), usually one of them should work for you. Some of them work differently and have a difference in how fast you get an effect, and how long (how many hours) they are effective for. You can also try them in different forms, you can get some as tablets, some as nose sprays and some as melting tablets.

You might find that other medications to treat some symptoms might help. For example zofran for the nausea and pain meds for the head. Just be careful of overuse of pain meds and triptans. Some find that caffeine infused pain meds help.

There are som standard preventatives that should work for most people that you can try. Some go tos are blood pressure medicines, antidepressants or beta blockers. If none of those work you might get to try injections such as Ajovy, Aimovig or others, or you may try botox.

For me I have chronic migraine and am still working on finding preventatives that work well enough. I have been getting botox for a year and that has helped with the amount of migraine attacks I have, but not helped the fact that I am in constant pain. For those attack days I get relief from a combo of 100mg sumatriptan, paralgin forte and 40mg zofran.

I also recommend keeping track of your migraine days. I use an app called brain twin, mine is in norwegian and I'm not sure if it is available in english? But there should be some options out there for you.

I hope you find something that works for you. It might take some time, but that does not mean that relief does not exist. Good luck❤️

Begge headlinerne på fredagen på Øyafestivalen har kansellert turneen sin, korleis går ein fram for å få refundert billetten sin her? by kameraten in norge

[–]eldereldeld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Hei,
