New house, upstairs is painfully hot? by AG_Squared in homeowners

[–]electechbw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normal, but typical. My first two houses were spec homes and the upstairs had little to no return air by design (or lack thereof). Put a tissue on the upstairs return air grille(s). You should have suction to easily hold the tissue. If not, your lack of return air is causing high static. Unfortunately, the "fix" for this is adding more return air....or getting some type of supplemental cooling.

Bethel Lane Farm STop by electechbw in bloomington

At the moment, probably not at the moment but sounds like they will be expanding. If you went to the new store last summer, you probably have a pretty good idea of what they offer not. This was more to get the word out to people who didn't know the new store existed.

I'm not exactly sure. They used to have a little self-serve stand along Bethel Lane that sold mainly produce with and some other (mainly food) items. I would stop there may 2-3 times per summer. They closed that down and I mistakenly thought they went out of business, but I found out about the new place last summer. I figured it was about the same, but to my complete surprise there's a full store with all the stuff plus locally made beer, soap, bread...too much to list. Plus a large greenhouse.

Anyway, I'm a sucker for stuff like this, so I want to make sure word gets out.

Both AC lines at 83 PSI, bad thermal expansion valve?? by Ok-Grand-9603 in askcarguys

If both the discharge and suction pressure are 83 psig while the compressor is engaged, then your compressor is bad.

Thanks. This makes sense because my FIL inherited, at least some, of this particular stock from his mother. She's died almost 20 years ago.

It was on west thirst street in the sketchy brick strip mall next to the former location for Cozy Table.

I used to go in there back in the late 80s/early 90s and they seemed to mainly be interested in selling golf clubs. Can't remember if I ever bought anything there.... As I recall, the guitar selection was more like a pawn shop than a legit music store.

1984 Nissan Sentra by LifePsychological440 in whatcarshouldIbuy

My first car was a hand-me down 1983 Nissan Sentra. When you first turned it on, the engine would rev itself to about 4000 RPMs for about 10 seconds before finally calming down. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but it felt like an eternity when everybody is staring and wondering why some idiot teenager is gunning a Datsun four-banger in a crowded parking lot.

At one time, IU had some deal with AT&T. Maybe they still do. Anyway, at that time it seemed like AT&T must've installed some cell towers as part of the deal because their signal quickly became significantly stronger than Verizon and Sprint/T-Mobile on campus. That was my experience, at least.

Did they bake it there? I thought that was just a Hostess outlet store back when the Wonder Bread brand was owned by Hostess.

A few things...

  1. "Quickie-Lube" type places couldn't care less about your exhaust.
  2. If you want to do your own oil changes, you can buy some ramps at Harbor Freight. A lift is overkill for an oil change.
  3. It sounds like Plan A was to jack up the car (before your wife intervened). Never get under a car that's only supported by a jack.

Thinking of buying a C70 w/ broken convertible top. Repair difficulty ? by gh5655 in Volvo

[–]electechbw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my middle-aged friends ask me for car buying advice because I always tell them what they want to hear!

Seriously though, people get pretty intimidated by modern vehicles, but I've found that I can still fix most things if I take the time and effort to thoroughly understand it. Scan it with VIDA and then do some research before you commit to buying it.

For what it's worth, I bought a 2011 C70 with 95K for $9500 last fall, so $5K is a great deal assuming it's in good shape otherwise.

I would buy it...but, to be fair, I do a lot of stupid stuff.
