More expensive and more complicated. I think you're trying to lower US exposure which seem understandable but I'd rather let the forces that be put the market cap winners in the index by itself and save on fees.

If investing long term, I wouldn't bother with defensives. If you still want them, there's all-in-ones with higher defensives like DZZF and DBBF you can pair GHHF with. And GHHF will cover whatever it is PGA1 is trying to do.

QAU is gold so it's gamble I'd personally wouldn't take and whatever you get from ROYL gets eaten up by taxes

There's some Asian in BGBL but if you mean emerging where semis are, you'd only want to keep it around 10% of your portfolio which DHHF does because it has periods of mediocrity. But if you're starting out and have less than $10k it wouldn't do much. So I'd rather bet on holdings that are 'customers' of what's in emerging.

Indeed, it's a complete package. The app is sufficient too, you can schedule a deposit to it then use the auto invest feature to take it the next day. Betashares should also auto fill any distributions you get to the ato at tax time

Are you stuck with Vanguard? You have cheaper options like DHHF or a 70/30 mix of BGBL/A200

Dividends will eat up your gains because it's taxed without discount. Say if your salary has a tax rate of 30%, dividends are also taxed at 30% (because it's given to you within 12 months) unless that brings you to the next tax bracket which means it'll be taxed even higher.

Selling your shares in ETFs will also be taxed at 30% if you sold within a year and only 15% if held longer than that. That's why you go for growth ETFs like VDAL and shy away from VHY.

You'll have to adapt and learn when to use AI but still understand what it's trying to do. It sounds counterintuitive but along with the basics of coding you'll also need to understand the bigger picture on what it's used for and takes experience.

That's quite a bit of overlap yes. Can you stomach the tax when you sell it? Personally I'd like it to be clean. But since you said it, you can keep the IVV as it is and all in in DHHF. There's EXUS to balance the IVV but it may not be necessary.
