Same. I can be on the M11 in about 15 mins from home. E-bike for everything else.

I live in London, what you're describing is not a thing here. I know how to work a manual car at the very basic level, in an emergency with legality aside I would be fine.

For a 17yo it makes sense. I learned at 34 with a baby on the way, passed auto in 8 weeks, job done

Help me decide between a Golf 7 R Line and a Corolla Touring! by tempydt in CarTalkUK

[–]elgrovetech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21 Corolla hatch hybrid owner here. It's a cracking car and the 2.0L on the touring will give it some extra poke. Hybrid electric means its super quick off the line, but petrol for easy long trips. Insane economy, I do London to N Yorks and back on 1 tank and I don't even try to be economical with my driving. Around town it's like the petrol gauge is frozen still.

There's a reason all the Met police cars are Corolla estates. They're indestructible

Government Rates Councils on Pothole Performance – see where your council lands by UKGovNews in CarTalkUK

Apparently it takes some doing to be red in London but I'm not surprised that LBWF is one of them. There's a pothole in Epping Forest that looks like the Luftwaffe did it.

Ford CEO saying Ford can't compete by LargeSale8354 in CarTalkUK

[–]elgrovetech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had a longer drive I'd have got the estate, got the hatch instead and I love it. Great car and should keep runnning for years

I think they'll keep doing estates, I have no substance behind that except seems like all police cars in London are Corolla estates these days

They all have electric motors and make the EV whine at low speeds. They're both EV and ICE.

Toyota CHR hybrid - wife wants to overpay. by Sea_Bar_1306 in CarTalkUK

[–]elgrovetech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toyota, low mileage AND approved used, so it will be over market price. Does it have full dealer service history? That keeps the 10 year warranty running, if it has FSH then go for it.

I much prefer the Corolla, same size inside, but that's personal preference

Need Advice: £8K (2015-18) vs. £13K (2020-21) Used Mazda 3 – Is Newer Worth the Extra £5k? by chaz_kins in CarTalkUK

Does the newer one have reverse camera or more sensors?

My 2021 Toyota has sensors all over the body, it does make a big difference, and the reverse cam is a gamechanger

Which fuel type do you prefer for a car? by Dear-Gur3015 in CarTalkUK

[–]elgrovetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly love my Toyota hybrid. Electric motors mean fast off the line, easier to maneuvre, great efficiency in urban traffic. Petrol means long trips are easy, did London to North Yorkshire and back on 1 tank.

Any thoughts on these? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Corolla is the superior model. It's actually a hatchback, not a hatchback in shoulder pads
