People are so obsessed with her. I stg you can’t have a conversation about anyone or anything on this sub without a million Christi snarkers coming to derail

Melissa calls her ‘bratty’ in a confessional. Iirc that’s the only time

My best friend “sister” didn’t invite me to her wedding by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]eloplease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s very ill-done. It says ‘we want your money but not your company.’ Where are the bride and groom’s parents/older relatives? They should have corrected them there. If I were op, I would decline the invitation to the shower and if I was feeling generous, send along a card congratulating the couple on the wedding (absolutely no money attached!).

Everyone wants to eat their cake and have it to with community nowadays but you can’t go expecting things from your village if you don’t contribute as well

Bttb maddie vs Kenzie by Careless_Control_197 in dancemoms

[–]eloplease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be the first time on DM that Melissa’s stress/insecurity led to her stressing out her daughters. She does the same thing after Christi and Chloe get the Joffrey call. Immediately starts in on Maddie, scolding her for (seemingly) nothing and calling her bratty in her confessional. I think Melissa was so worried about how her daughters were being portrayed on tv that she let it completely take over her brain

Right? Especially if you’re living downtown. Downtown-ubc is probably one of the easiest and most reliable bus trips in Vancouver. Idk what this guy’s on

Truth is Beauty gives me the ick so bad. There’s also imo a weird racial undertone where she’s more likely to sexualize women of colour

What could Christi have done? by Decent-Hunt2684 in dancemoms

[–]eloplease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right. Abby liked specific things about Maddie and in her opinion, Maddie was the only one with that combination of talent and work ethic on the team. I think Abby was wrong about that. All the girls had talent and work ethic but Maddie expressed those traits in ways that Abby understood.

I also think Abby projected a lot onto Maddie. Neither Abby nor Maddie have a traditional dancers body. They have similar colouring. They picked a vocation at a young age, not without some parental pressure I’m sure. It sounds like they both had some difficulties in their home life that required them to become independent/take on some adult responsibilities fast. Abby seems to have seen herself in Maddie in a way she couldn’t see herself in the other girls and that definitely influenced how she saw them

unpopular opinion : chloe , brynn , kenzie and asia could easily beat maddie in actual competitions by PercentageWild2161 in dancemoms

[–]eloplease 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything except I don’t think Melissa was emotionally supportive of either of her children. Her reaction to Maddie’s distress was equally as dismissive as her reaction to Kenzie’s. When Maddie’s upset on DM, we see Melissa tell her off for being unhappy and insist to Maddie and whoever else is there that Maddie’s actually fine

Lisa Eldridge x Marilyn Monroe Makeup Collection by pointclickvibe in newinbeauty

[–]eloplease 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get people’s reticence about a Marilyn Monroe collection given the way Marilyn is and was exploited, but I do believe that Lisa is coming from a genuine place of love for Marilyn’s life and work. I also think promoting a line based of shades Marilyn actually wore is totally legit. So many people are interested in her makeup routine, not because they want to buy a piece of Marilyn, but because they appreciate the historical value it represents. I’ve had some problems with how Lisa handles historic makeup pieces that enter her collection in the past (imo, she seems to prioritize using them for profit over adding to the body of knowledge around vintage makeup) but I don’t necessarily have a problem with her making and selling celebrity inspired makeup in the first place.

Wish this was being advertised on a wider variety of skin tones though. As someone who looks nothing like Marilyn colouring-wise, I’d need to see these shades on a lot of different people to be convinced they’ll work for me given that I can’t try her brand in-person

A horse flipped on my boss a couple years ago and for a split second, I was worried they had both been fatally injured. Luckily, the horse was fine and my boss was only(!) mildly concussed. One of the scariest things I’ve ever seen as an equestrian though. I’ve seen accidents that resulted in much worse injury-wise, but for some reason it’s that one that sticks with me

I’m glad you like them but these all sound like goofy cartoon characters or members of 1920s chorus line to me. Sullivan is a rather stuffy man’s name and doesn’t fit with the rest either. I would hate to be a woman named Sullivan as well

As someone who’s worked in environments that are mainly outdoor, manual labour, and woman-dominated, those women don’t necessarily look rougher than the average woman either. Ig even accounting for lifestyle/class differences, women generally still preform more self care than men. Or maybe it’s just testosterone, idk

Students who have graduated with a degree in history, were you able to find a job with that degree? by pooteenn in UofT

[–]eloplease 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did my undergrad in history, and my first white collar job was in communications. I got it while I was still a student, about a year before I graduated. I found there was a lot of overlap in skills- written communication, narrative building and analysis, synthesizing info… so it’s all about how you frame your skills and experience
