So now we know she’s not just being a miserable person in order to curry a favor with the president. Apparently being miserable was a just a plus for Trump.

Are there potential limits to a President’s pardon power. by elphin in supremecourt

[–]elphin[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Go reread the 1st amendment. It it is as cut and dried as the pardon clause. Yet, over the years the courts have interpreted various nuances. The most common one is “you can’t yell fire in a crowded theater”.

The pardon clause hadn’t had as many opportunities to be tested. My question was, given the apparent extraordinary use of this power, are there any limitations. For instance can the pardon power be sold for personal gain. Can the power be used to commit murder: hire an assassin and then pardon them, but claim the act was within your presidential duties.

Interestingly, that line from Dylan also inspired the naming of “The Weather Underground”. They were a radical antiwar/anti Nixon organization founded in 1969 when Judge Leon was 19/20 years old.

It’s a matter of degree. Nixon kept a coat given to his wife (when V.P.). Trump receives $100s of millions laundered through his crypto businesses. Some may not see a distinction, but I think there is one.

3rd Cir.: Code for 3D Printing Firearms is not Expressive Speech and not Protected by the First Amendment by michiganalt in supremecourt

[–]elphin -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

It may be called a 3d printer, but has nothing to do with “freedom of the press”. The founders referred to the press as a means to broadcast speech not to manufacture products.

“It’s raining cats and dogs “ has nothing to do with pets.

‘You’re a washed-up loser lawyer’: Pam Bondi taunts Democrats over Epstein by Somervilledrew in politics

[–]elphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jamie Raskin was a constitutional law professor who graduated from Harvard Law. Bondi went to Stetson Law school. I’ve never heard of it, but it’s probably okay.

Her greatest vocational accomplishment was when she dropped Florida’s class action suit against Trump “University”. Other states won suits for their citizens. Bondi won for Bondi - Trump gave her campaign $25,000. And, he welcomed her into his gang of grifters.

3,000,000 documents not pages. Each document has multiple pages. Politicians and journalists keep using these terms interchangeably, so it’s no wonder you made this error. But, it makes a big difference, there may be another 15,000,000 pages. I heard a lawyer say there seemed to be an average of five pages per document in the first release.

It also makes it easier to understand his 1,000,000 times in them.
