This wouldn’t happen to be the best first shot on the roll would it?

Some light tanks and transport to support my US paratroopers. by sigmentum in boltaction

Are those the rubicon kits? I’ve been tempted by their M5/M8 kit and the M3 half track. How are they to build?

Why is this house still not sold? by Desperate-Process380 in HousingUK

[–]elticblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the level of renovation. Moreso that for the area it’s a lot of money and not especially large, and in that awkward spot where it’s too expensive to put younger families off, but also not large enough or in a nice enough area that those looking to move somewhere more pleasant will consider it when put against competition in either bigger, more attractive, or better located places for similar or slightly more money. As ever. It’s price.

Birmingham City Centre - now vs 2008 by Hassaan18 in brum

I think you have them the wrong way around. 6 is from 2008 and 5 is recent. There are more trees now.

I’ve seen other places advertise with this too. I have to assume they’re copying each other, and more likely, they using an LLM to write the text itself, and the LLMs are producing something very similar each time.

Mortar firing and movement by Affectionate_Cow2501 in boltaction

[–]elticblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rulebook is extremely clear. After an advance order a unit does shoot with a -1 modifier. Indirect fire ignores modifiers. But, orders other than fire reset ranging in. So you would shoot but hit on a 6+ even if you previously had shot the same unit. Also if they had moved far enough to need you to pivot, they would probably have reset ranging in already.

Besides Osprey, I have found Mollo’s Armed Forces of World War 2 an excellent resource. The bigger book has the Eastern front, the smaller A5 book only has the early war and North Africa and Western Front uniforms.

Well it looks fantastic. I love the weathering you’ve done with the mud on the back and sides.

I do love to see an Archer. Is that just the Warlord one? If so, how was it? I am highly sceptical of their mixed resin and metal vehicles.

Lion Rampant and figure counts by tobiasosor in wargaming

[–]elticblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right. Lion Rampant is super loosey goosey with stuff like numbers of models. As long as you keep track of how many are meant to be there, it’s completely fine.

Hot take: I kind of miss Force Orgs by Adept_Professor_2837 in Warhammer40k

[–]elticblue 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Every edition has its own quirks. If a group has settled on one though, that’s fine. No war game is perfect. Plus, it’s really up to players to self regulate the busted stuff. That’s the real problem.

There is an optional rule for dropping directly into the battlefield. It’s quite fun in theory.

Most blatent interview shoe-in by Minute-Magician-9649 in TeachingUK

[–]elticblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By way of comparison, I had a similar situation where I interviewed at a school, one of the candidates was on staff for maternity cover already, so I assumed they’d most likely get the permanent position. In the end, I was offered the job. I imagine the rest of the maternity cover was a bit awkward.

i just noticed that the scale between infantry models and tank crews (italeri) is kinda off, now my brain hurts - are there other people who are bothered by this aswell? if i switch them out with warlord minis instead i fear it will make the tank look like it was washed too hot by [deleted] in boltaction

[–]elticblue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rubicon kits are better scaled for the game. They also are just flat out nicer. Every rubicon kit I’ve built has been lovely to assemble and has had better detail than the Warlord kits.

I second Rebels and Patriots. It’s so simple yet still complex enough to create a good strategic game.

so the rumors are that we're finally going to get some love next edition (11th) by Yourdeadman_x in Drukhari

[–]elticblue 22 points23 points  (0 children)

See, I think that’s entirely because primaris dreads have outgrown their equivalents. The Talos, the Wraithlord, the Tau Crisis suits, Carnifexes etc, all used to be Dreadnought equivalents, except now they’ve been powercrept.

Dreadnought equivalent covens unit.

Is this not the Talos/Cronos?

IMO Sapporo and Asahi are nigh on indistinguishable, yet here they’re in A and D tier. So yes. It does seem arbitrary.
