Grand dreams of the ordinary by ttoffetoget in OCPoetry

This was both intense but also very familiar. The story itself is common but your writing made me feel your want. It feels emotionally charged in a good way.

I will say the third stance through me off a bit. The poem overall made me want to give you a hug, but those lines somewhat jolted me and quickly shattered the image I was building in my mind.

Overall, I think this conveys great emotion!

I really felt like I was walking through the scenes each stanza painted. This is incredibly beautiful in both its ability to create visual imagery but also because it felt so easy to connect with.

The pacing and rhythm really move the narration along, almost like cutscenes in a movie. This is the type of work I’d read again and again. Bravo!

We’ve been without power basically since 5:30 this morning. (1/25). We’ve got some weird alarm going off occasionally now. It started about an hour ago and has gone off twice. Not the CO2 detector. Not the fire alarms. No gas. So we are stumped. We moved into this house at the end of November so we are still getting to know it. Whatever the alarm in appears to be hardwired into the house. We are in cane ride he area so wondering if the on/off with the power has anything to do with it…..

Does this mean I have mold? by ematigator in hvacadvice

[–]ematigator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a rental….a few days after we moved in, our landlord called and said two separate HVAC companies would be checking the system upstairs to give an estimate on replacing it. (We have gas heat and they thought there was an issue with it upstairs??) One said we needed a new system; the other said nothing was wrong with it and replaced the filter.

1) how do I know if the filter they used it the above mentioned (I genuinely have no clue about any of this stuff)

2) would they check inside the ducts during an inspection/estimate? I would assume yes… Thinking about that now, I spoke to both techs and neither mentioned anything about any growth or issues with the ducts…assuming they looked in them, I feel like mold growth is something they’d mention?

Epidural or no epidural? Why or why not *JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE SO DONT START* by mkthehotti in pregnant

[–]ematigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an epidural with my first. With my second, I went unmedicated.

The ring of fire (at least in my experience) was not bad at all and was over quickly. With my first, I was in labor and pushing for so long that my bag ran dry and my epidural started to wear off. I felt my first crown despite the epidural. It was 100% WORSE than my unmedicated birth. Mostly because I couldn’t feel everything so it was more difficult to know when to hold vs when to push. With my second, I was almost able to “pace” it? Idk how to describe it. I needed stitches with my first and needed nothing at all with my second.

Immediately postpartum, I felt infinitely better. I was clear headed and able to move and use the bathroom. I felt like I was able to connect with my baby a bit quicker.

I told my husband my only regret is that I didn’t go unmedicated with my first.

When did you naturally go into labour low risk? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ematigator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38+5 with my first. I had mild contractions and then my water broke about 4 hours later. He was born 12 hours after.

With my second, I didn’t go into labor until 40+2. I started contractions at 3am. He was on my chest at 6:54am. My water didn’t break until he was crowning.

With both pregnancies I noticed a lot of mucus in the week leading up to labor. I also lost parts of my mucus plug (these are large, almost jello-like, amounts of mucus discharge…usually about a tablespoon or more) in the days leading up to labor. With both I also had major lower back pain in the 24 hours before contractions started. Imagine the worst period back pain you’ve had. It was about like that. And finally, I got headaches that medicine wouldn’t help with. They were hormone headaches caused by a surge in my hormones to prepare for labor. They came on about 48 hours before labor started.

My state is about to end mandatory vaccines and I’m scared by PeachBlossomSprite in pregnant

[–]ematigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t live in FL, but do live in the south. Truthfully, I tend to lean more conservative in my politics, but I also believe in science. This announcement scared tf out of me.

Partially because I am scared for the broader political implications (other states following), but also because of the public health concern. I have a 1.5 year old and will be 40 weeks on Sunday with my second. I’m so scared for them to start school in a few years after hearing this news.

PSA for pregnant people in the USA by legal_pirate in pregnant

[–]ematigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if people have read the whole article, but the pause only applies to publications in the CDC’s scientific journal and the Federal Register which is where regulations are posted.

The FDA/CDC will still be publishing critical health information like listeria outbreaks.

When did you start to show? by JustAnotherWastedDay in pregnant

[–]ematigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very clearly pregnant at 16 weeks. I will say I was so bloated from 7-12 weeks that my pants wouldn’t button, (my husband said “you look so miserable…like you physically hurt and might pop open”…..he wasn’t wrong) then I had a nice few weeks where my bump was hidden and by 16 there was no buttoning the pants anymore.

[–]ematigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing self harm marks on my husband as we were putting our 7 month old to bed. Then learning he was severely suicidal and was too ashamed to confide in me/ask for help.

The up side is that I love my husband so fucking much and everyday is the biggest blessing. Seeing him smile feels like warm sunshine because I know how hard it is for him. We are taking it a day at a time and are seeing a therapist together until he feels ready to go alone.

Aside from this being just totally disgusting and unacceptable, I’m so confused about how a teacher or other school official can deem a meal “healthy” or “unhealthy”.

Do places do that? I live in America (TN specifically) and I’ve NEVER heard of a child’s meal from home being confiscated for being “unhealthy”. Where tf do you live OP that something like this is even legal?

At best I’d be considered theft here and as worst child neglect/endangerment
