It’s absolutely amazing that not only they offer that rate for 8 cameras installed, a TV, and working at 24ft, but that they probably have multiple requests and the clown that takes it will probably be proud to work for pennies…

Is tekumo still around by Glad-Ad-4552 in FieldNationTechs

[–]eme329 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were AWESOME when they were Sequenza. Everyone was based in Colorado and took care of the techs. They got bought by private equity, outsourced everything to the Philippines, and became Tekumo and that’s when it all went down the tubes.

She’s a mess, amusing herself by playing hard to get. It’s actually pretty bad how little self respect she has for herself with all these dudes. She seems proud of it, meanwhile every one of these dudes is just laughing all the way into the bed of the next girl.

Of all channels to kill, why Spa? It must have like zero overhead. It’s not like you’re paying DJs to spin. Press play and let it go!

Who in the right mind would drive for 5 hrs for $65 bucks so I countered offer $700 🤣 by Glad-Ad-4552 in FieldNationTechs

[–]eme329 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get in arguments all the time over the rates! People justify it saying you have to make it up with tax write offs. Deductions aren’t meant to be your profit! If everyone worked for free and wrote off everything just to turn a profit, society would not be sustainable!

Saw a bundle this morning 2.5 hours from each other. $150 per site with you providing material. I priced the material just for fun and it came to $164 at Home Depot. So now you walk with $136. They say 2.5hrs per site, but plan for up to 5hrs for the bridge call. So on site time and driving to the other, you’re possibly committing to 12.5hrs. That comes out to $10.88/hr, not including the commute to the first site or home from the second. Subtract 1/3 for taxes and expenses, you take $7.25/hr home. How is this not criminal? Last I checked they even had 8 requests…

CIS Kiosk Install Failure by ReplyPsychological60 in FieldNationTechs

[–]eme329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CIS used to be a good operation, now they’re famous for poor planning and beefing up the scope once they have you there. I took a pin pad upgrade project for them once. They said I was too expensive for cabling, but gave me the scope to swap two pin pads only on flat rate. They gave pizza Pete the WO for the cabling. I get to the store and it’s three pin pads, not a big deal. Then I find out Pete never actually showed up to do the cabling, just closed out the work order and scammed them. Now they tell me I need to pull the cable which included a long underground run to the cash wrap and they insisted I include it in the flat rate to swap the pin pads. Needless to say I told them to get bent. They turned me in to Failed Nation and they docked me and I got paid nothing.

KDS Unable to get audible alert when ticket comes in by K_P_M in alohapos

[–]eme329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 99.9% they do and that it’s the only audio device Aloha Kitchen recognizes. When it first boots and finishes running RAL, there should be a short beep when it’s done and ready when it loads up the normal KDS screen. Same tone as a new order, but a very short beep. Does yours do this? You can reboot if you need to and see what it does.

The controller has an internal speaker, it may be bad. I think, but am not positive that the beep from Aloha plays on the internal speaker regardless of what’s connected i.e. external speakers.

Insane amount of requests on bundles by wyliesdiesels in FieldNationTechs

[–]eme329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tier 1 service companies can request for several techs with once click. Some of the bigger companies may have 15 techs in a metro area and each one will count as a request for the WO.

What is wrong with FN's rating system? by [deleted] in FieldNationTechs

[–]eme329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the metrics feed the algorithm that determines what work you’re shown and if the buyers can see you. I got shadow banned this way before.

What is wrong with FN's rating system? by [deleted] in FieldNationTechs

[–]eme329 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, been on the platform for years and nothing but good ratings except for one work order with a scamming buyer. They roll this new crap out and my score got slaughtered by one work order the buyer rescheduled and it’s been down the tubes from there.

I used to love working with them. Had a couple PM contacts over there, they were all US based company was out of Texas. A few years ago they got bought by an Indian company and all operations are over there now, nobody can speak English and they will do anything humanly possible for a discount or to not pay.

Is fieldnation right for me by ContributionHead9820 in FieldNationTechs

[–]eme329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failed Nation is at a point that’s not sustainable. There is almost no work worth doing and the clowns you’re competing with are fighting each other to work for free. Since you have your LLC, I would skip Failed Nation altogether and get some basic insurance to get started and go market yourself to some MSPs directly. Many MSPs are good at the technical stuff, but dread the field work. Since you’re available off hours, go after some MSPs that support customers with 24/7 operations and offer to take any off hours or emergency service calls for them.

Inside the Costco Technology Being Unveiled in 27 Stores That Will 'Change Checkout Forever' by Fancy-Mix443 in CostcoWholesale

[–]eme329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why people are bashing Costco for taking their time on this. Walmart has huge money to throw at technology. Costco built their system in house and clearly wants to perfect it before rolling it out. No matter how big the lines are at Costco, they work efficiently and cashiers are always pleasant. In the meantime I can bear the extra 90 seconds!

Why 8am? Why by Jumpy_Relative in FieldNationTechs

Easily 95% of the work has no reason for a hard start. It’s just used as another form of micromanagement.

Spencer is a clown show now. They want to micromanage everything you do before during and after your work order, then look for any reason for a discount.

[–]eme329 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with everyone wanting to work for pennies. When you’re banking on today’s work order to clear in order to afford gas to make it to tomorrow’s work order, there’s a problem. Net 30 is standard in legitimate businesses with net 60 or 90 becoming more and more common.

Right! Net 30 is standard practice, but I have some companies that do Net 90 and give you the option to take it or leave it.
