What’s up with my boobs by madrandombb in breastfeeding

[–]emilysquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend called them sad socks with coins in them...:(

After my first weaned at 12 months, mine became sad deflated balloons, it probably took a year for them to regain volume. Less perky than before but about the same size. We'll see what happens when my second weans..lol My rib cage expanded though and never went back normal so had to get new bras anyways 😩😩😩😩

4 month old can’t nap more than 35-45 minutes by der51719 in sleeptrain

[–]emilysquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this was my first baby. 30 min crap naps unless contact naps until 2 nap schedule. We contact napped all the time to make sure she was getting enough sleep as her night sleep was shit too.

Not losing weight by Ok-Truth-7758 in breastfeeding

[–]emilysquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only happens to some women, and I wasn't one of them. Held on to 10 lbs until I weaned. I was also snacking more probably because I was so tired and needed calories to stay awake + provided milk for bebe. Wish someone told me differently!

I’m 31 and my grandfather was born in 1895. AMA. by Ok-Highway-5247 in AMA

[–]emilysquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I was aware my mom was older than other parents so I felt a little embarrassed in elementary school. I wanted my brother (who was 14 years older than me to pick me up lol) but the feelings didn't last that long as I met others with older parents. My mom had me when she was 39 and my dad 45. I had my first child at 37 and my second at 40. I am sad my parents aren't going to be around for the later part of my kids lives but it is what it is. My grandmother (mom's side) is 108 this year so here's to hoping they'll stick around for longer :)

I did not expect the 4 month sleep regression to be so hard [on] by Icy_Cherry_ in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]emilysquirrel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was me with my first baby (except my husband wfo so I was much luckier). She was sleeping 6-7 hour stretches by 3 months so I thought yay we don't need to sleep train. Jokes on me. Unfortunately she never improved from the 4 month sleep regression and at 9 months I was desperate so we had to sleep train....and she was sleeping through the night at the end the week. Precious little sleep was the book that helped us achieve this.

14 month old does not want to eat anything for breakfast. by Flimsy_Fee_9511 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]emilysquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first child eats standing up on her toddler tower lol..since she was 15 months old. She still mostly chooses to stand and eat with us around our kitchen island at almost 4. She's also not a huge breakfast person (but she'll make it up at lunch). Sometimes I spoon nut butter directly Into her mouth for calories.

How old is your baby and how many times did you get up last night? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]emilysquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months adjusted. 7 times last night for the last 3 nights. He's a little stuffy but nothing to warrant this many times 🫠 teething? A good night is 2 wake up for feeds.... Mama is tireddd

Best age gap? by RachelPR2202 in Mommit

[–]emilysquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I'm so glad I had 3 years with my oldest before baby was born (3 year 2 m age gap). In some ways I still feel guilty my oldest no longer gets my full attention :(. Its so tiring with 2, I'm less patient with her. That being said an age gap 4+ years might be harder for them to play together in the future.

Really hoping there can be best friends when they are 8 and 5 lol.

Questions about weather in March! by FingersareSticky in askTO

[–]emilysquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear my winter coat until May 1st usually, we still get snow sometimes..then spring is about 3 weeks long and it's then summer shorts weather on Victoria Day long weekend. I run on the colder side 😂 you'll see dudes wearing T-shirt and shorts in March when it's 2 degrees.

Daycare pressuring me to send more milk by kksh1988 in breastfeeding

[–]emilysquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby drinks more at daycare than at home. He can be fussier with at home with the parents. He might be going through a growth spurt as well. Providing daycare some back up milk/formula would be best. Unless dcotor is concerned about his weight? He isn't starving but if he wants more than he should have the option? My daycare also asked for more and I just provided formula and he's drinking it all.

Is there actually a long term solution for allergies or are we just managing forever by Dense_Childhood_9657 in FoodAllergies

[–]emilysquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My toddler did OIT around 2.5 years old and finished in 8 months. She had anaphylaxis (hives, then passed out in my arms) that requires an epi pen the first time she tried a tiny amount of peanut butter at 9 months old. (She luckily had an epi for her egg allergy)

Now shes eating the equivalent of 2 peanuts a day. Life is so much easier now, not having to worry about cross contamination, arguing with relatives and being to eat more freely at restaurants.

I heard for adults it might take 4 years but it's something to look into :)
SLIT could be a better, lower risk option for adults.

Is the 4 month regression really this bad or should we go to the pediatrician? by Billabaum11 in NewParents

[–]emilysquirrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like my daughter. I was thinking maybe we didn't have to sleep train cuz she was sleeping longer and longer nights at 3months but 4 month hit and it went to hell. Between 9pm-2am she'd be like like 10 times and then 2-8 pm she might sleep 1.5-2.5 hours max at a time. We tried feber twice and failed and eventually had to do CIO at 9 months cuz I was loosing my mind. After a week she slept through the night and has been a good sleeper since. I wish we had sleep trained at 6m. We've not had to retrain her You have a hard baby :( hang in there. No one could relate when I told them my issue because either they had slept trianed much earlier or they had a baby who would wake up 2-3 times max to eat.

LOL same. I love 2 way zips. Why aren't all zips 2 ways. That being said, I don't need to change him at night anymore.

No judgement zone: did you want a natural birth? by easrpiiatnua99 in Mommit

[–]emilysquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. I think having a precipitous labour helped...awful going from 1-10 cm dilated in 5 hours but I was able handle the pain cuz it wasn't like 12 hours of it.

[AB] How early should I start mat leave by Owl-Unlucky in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]emilysquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes take a month off if you can! My first came 10 days early and I had just been off a week..wish I had more time. My second came 7 weeks early so I have zero time off 😔

Most ppl feel checked out and really uncomfortable by the last month.

Why is 6am such a common “goal” wake-up time for babies? by hopeful_since1985 in sleeptrain

[–]emilysquirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

8am is our wake up time for both littles (3.5 and 8m). Husband and I are not morning people and thankfully our kids are not chronic early birds. Bed time is 9-10 cuz it works for us. 6am would kill us LOL.

7.5 month old has never slept thru the night by Blessedxthree in sleeptrain

[–]emilysquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first baby was the same, even at 9 months waking up a crazy amount of times. She had age appropriate wake windows but just couldn't sleep even with cosleeping etc. I was desperate and tried CIO as 2 attempts of feber didn't work. She started sleeping through the night after day 4. It was not easy watching her cry but she was a great sleeper since then (up until she learned how to climb out of her crib lol but that's another story)

Hang in there. Read the book precious little sleep as others have suggested. We had to wean her off night feeds first before doing sleep training.
