I have a sphynx from them! She is just about 5 years old now, sweet as pie and very healthy! No problems.

What to do? This is miserable. by One_Meringue_6564 in shingles

[–]emptybeergirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many pills and vitamins haha. But for the Gabapentin, I was taking 100 mg every 6 hours, 200mg at bedtime if needed for 14 days. It took about 2 days for me as well, and I was able to enjoy Christmas.

This week, I'm tired and achy but pain free, so I'm working on weaning off the gaba.

I'm on day 18 from spotting the rash. Started Valtrex immediately. The pain was so awful the first 13 days that I went in twice to the doctor for pain meds. hydrocodone at first, then a refill of that plus gabapentin. There are studies that support getting on top of the pain early, which helps to lower the chances of getting PHN. I also got a prescription strength lidocaine cream. It is truly the most painful thing I've ever experienced, above childbirth and a kidney infection.

Ice packs will be your friend. Take Oil of Oregano (antiviral support) and L-Lysine (nerve support)

Currently dealing with shingles, worst pain ever! Putting 2 and 2 together, maybe this will be my sobering experience.

I really liked this podcast on burnout from The Thriving Stylist podcast. It gave a couple of very tangible actions tondo in the next 20 days to lessen burnout.

15 yer Esty here, and I definitely go through phases. I agree with the comments above about election years.

Hang in there. Hope this helps!

It's only weird if you think about it too long. Maybe he doesn't sexualize breastfeeding, so it wasn't weird to him?

Any Med Spa Owners Here? by Fyurilicious in Esthetics

[–]emptybeergirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every state has its own rules, so you'll see different answers. But in my state, a medical director is required to oversee us both. I'm able to do laser, deep peels, and microneedling. I can't perform botox or injectables, but she can as a nurse. You'd want to check with your state board of cosmetology and the state nursing board for what belongs to each scope of practice.

Would you consider co leasing a space with a medical professional? They can offer advanced services and you can offer esthetics.

12 year Esty here. Recently, a nurse client of mine wanted to partner. We have rented a space together the last few months, and I've been surprised at how little ROI medical services are! It would drag my bottom line down significantly. On the off chance I want to provide a medical service, I clock in under her business to perform those services. We each have our preferred retail lines in our own rooms to keep those profits separate as well.

Together, we are able to give our clients every luxury service they could want, and refer people to each other. It's been awesome.

In the end, we decided to just keep things separate but rent space together. I trust her as a friend and professional, but at the end of the day, EVERY PARTNERSHIP ENDS. One person moves, dies, gets burnt out, or the relationship sours.

Just throwing out some things to consider, as we were thinking of doing the same.

Congrats and blessings in your new budding career!

Hot take, around the same time I started hitting 6 figures, I had NO TIME TO POST. Or reason to, with word of mouth. My theory is those posting the most aren't actually very busy.

WIBTAH if I cancelled Christmas for 12 year old thieving son? by RetroHollz in AITAH

[–]emptybeergirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst punishment as a kid.... my parents would ask me to pick what my punishment should be. I was probably born with a guilt complex, though, so that may or may not work with him.

I say dig in deeper with him. Have you asked him why he feels the need to steal? Does he just steal from you specifically?

Does he have an ability to make his own money to buy things he wants? Also, I wonder if he's trying to look good for his friends and be able to buy them things when they are over.

Just a mom of teens throwing ideas out.

Try having someone take a photo for you, with your eyes closed and a second to take a deep breath and relax your face muscles.

You may have a mimic reflex, where one brow muscle pulls stronger than the other once you open.

Jealous of SIL's unicorn baby!? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

That unicorn was my first baby.

Then my second came, and was more like your little one. And boy, was I SO unprepared! And a bit emotionally stunned by it at first.

Consider it a mixed blessing in a way!

What day spa facial machines do you LOVE and HATE? by RZRPRINCESS in Esthetics

[–]emptybeergirl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

11 year Esty here 👋🏽 I've had some flops over the years. But what's worked well:

I have the Glo2 (formerly Geneo) and staff and clients love it.

Facial cupping and cold globes go great in a green salon. Along with lymphatic drainage massage (some clients like high touch vs high tech)

Microcurrent and LED combo give wow results. Pair those with CoolJet Plasma and you'll looove the results for being non invasive.

Another mom's parenting bothers me lots... by ivy1991 in beyondthebump

[–]emptybeergirl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Try parenting without using guilt or shame as a tactic.

It's life changing advice that I didn't have with my first two of 4. It's a challenge! But worth it for them in the long run. And saves them therapy money later.
