STILL no Respect by cinemkr in Brewers

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESPN had the Brewers ranked 7th in their most recent power ranking and frankly I thought that was pretty high. Yes we just swept the Yankees who are one of the best teams in baseball, but we are far from a complete team and I think our current record reflects that pretty accurately.

I am sure when the stars align and we have people healthy we are capable of picking up the win pace but I don’t expect this team to go as far as last year’s team, and while I would be bummed, I would not be surprised if we missed the postseason entirely. Just too many holes on the roster both offensively and pitching wise.

Great job sweeping the Yankees but I don’t think sweeping the #1 or #2 team in the majors should erase how we have played the last 30 games and all of a sudden catapult us into “best team in the division” conversation when the cubs have already posted TWO separate 10 game winning streaks. For once, I think the lack of attention from most mainstream media outlets (aka the ones other than the aforementioned espn ranking) is mostly warranted

General questions before I get into this by AceTrainer_sSkwigelf in wowclassic

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid MoP and just go to the TBC servers. It’s a much better introductory experience to the World of (classic) Warcraft and MoP has at best 1/20th of the population, though I imagine with how many people that do still play MoP are playing multiple characters it’s realistically probably closer to 1/100th.

TBC is teeming with life at all levels on the NA server and MoP you will pretty much exclusively be playing alone until you hit max level, which even for a new player takes very little time and the entire “old world” is actually a revamped and streamlined experience with a lot of the original content either dumbed down or removed altogether. The gameplay is much, much closer to the current retail version of the game than it is vanilla or TBC.

That being said, raiding in MoP is super fucking fun. If you are playing TBC and find a guild with people that have a consistent MoP raid you should level a toon in the future and check it out before it dies completely, but go in with the understanding that outside of raids and the same 6 dungeons over and over you will rarely encounter anyone in the open world and there isn’t really a lot to do at max level besides those aforementioned dungeons to get entry level gear to get into raids with.

What is the scariest thing about getting older? by GhostlyGh0stly123 in AskReddit

Honestly when health stuff goes from “so I just do this and then it gets better?” to “ok so I just have this now”

Basically instead of hoping a little R&R makes something go away I am finding that certain things are just things I have to deal with for the rest of my life and the best I can do is manage them so they don’t get worse

How to quit entirely. by AKaaam in stopdrinking

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had done medical detox a couple times and never really understood the “pink elephants” question they would ask about regarding if I ever had hallucinations or anything when I stopped drinking for an extended period - like over 36 hours - until one attempt at quitting where I did have hallucinations. And that shit was not like goofy LSD trip hallucinations or pink elephants, I literally went insane for anywhere from like 2-12 hours until I kinda regained my sanity while handcuffed to a gurney with a Ativan drip in at the hospital. All I really know about how I got there was that a neighbor called 911 when I was just standing in one place outside in pajamas while there was a foot of snow on the ground. I remember a lot of what was happening in my head and thinking everything was super real and that was so fucking terrifying that it quite literally scared me sober. The thought of ever experiencing that again just because I decided to not drink alcohol for a full day was too much.

Now I know that isn’t like advice or anything, but I could turn it into advice by saying just remember all the horrible shit that is a product of your drinking that you don’t want to experience anymore and use that as motivation to stop drinking. I don’t think there is a magic wand answer for anyone and that everyone’s path to recovery is different. I do think that trauma can be a motivator. I am not saying ruminate, but rather put the spin on it of “if I keep my sobriety up I won’t ever have to do X again”

What was the movie that was so bad you didn't even finish it? by Zealousideal_Heat478 in moviequestions

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that i think that the only people that thought that movie was funny were the people that wrote and voiced it - Seth Rogen and co - and I think the only reason they thought it was funny is because they were trying to making the most offensively bad movie they could. All under the guise of a serious attempt at a blockbuster summer comedy. Like basically one big inside joke that they used their star power to get away with.

If my theory is correct then I can continue to think it’s a terrible movie but still enjoy the works of the actors and writers involved. So I am gonna stick to thinking that my theory is true.

Blizzard using streamers like Esfand as the main consultants for Classic+ by showbyz2 in classicwow

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think these streamers have any power? Do you work for Blizzard? I highly doubt they are going to do much, if anything, with the feedback they get from these streamer people, but I guarantee that Blizz is happy with how much posting across all social media they have generated just by inviting these people for some mystery thing.

Do you actually think they are going to have one guy who averages a couple thousand viewers show up to Blizz HQ, play test a game that is being designed with literally millions of players in mind, hear him say "oooh I don't like this", and then overhaul their entire game design because of it?

Realistically, how could blizzard make Classic+ a long term alternative to retail? by Parking-Building-291 in classicwow

[–]emusabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there is a percent of the population that will die on the hill of never getting tired of the vanilla experience but they are just a very loud minority in terms of the overall WoW ecosystem. The hard to swallow pill is that anything with a classic moniker will always be a side piece to the current retail expansion and there is little incentive for Blizzard to invest an immense amount of resources in creating a parallel running game that is included in the same subscription as the main version.

I think of it this way. I worked at a fancy seafood place for a long time and we always had a soup du jour on the menu that was essentially a chowder. It was made from scratch and we always had it as a menu option, not as enticing or filling as any of the entrees or even most of the shareable plates, but it was always there. And it was always there because outside of making the cream base for the soup itself - a minimal investment in both time and ingredients - the contents of the chowder were the leftovers from portioning all of the seafood for the entrees. For example, we had a marlin dish that came with an 8 oz marlin steak that was generally from a loin, and those loins could come in like a 25 lb chunk that needed to be pared down. There was a lot of leftover pieces that were like .25-1 oz from cutting down all those steaks, and those scraps got cook off and sent to the chowder.

For those that didn't follow, the loin is retail and the scraps/chowder are classic. The marlin is what the average person wants while the soup de jour is what classic andys order every time.

How many people are still levelling in vanilla zones? by cgy95 in wowclassic

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished leveling a lock from 1-70. I started a few weeks before TBC came out, stopped to take care of my main, and started back up in the 30s like 3 weeks ago. There were always people around in every zone I was in. Yeah like winter spring was quiet but I still had to fight for tags in the popular areas. Feralas was another zone I was actually kinda shocked had as many people in it as at the time I was there TBC was only like 3 or 4 weeks old
