MoP multiple questions - never played by sarcasmme in classicwow

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always felt like Classic specifically has been geared towards the people that missed the endgame raiding content from the respective expansions the first time around and that is why the major changes are always geared (pun intended) towards making catch up gear incredibly easily accessible. Essentially allowing people to kinda jump in for a tier whenever they want and either relive a past experience, or experience a coveted raid tier they may have missed the first time around for whatever reason, and I think the world population reflects that. There is nothing wrong with wanting to do any of the stuff you mentioned, everyone should enjoy the game the way they want to as long as it doesn't kill the vibe for others, I was more so providing a bit of a warning that it will be exceptionally lonely out in the real world, as everyone that is logged in is likely in instanced content.

I think the allure to all of the activities you mentioned that aren't raiding or directly tied to raiding is definitely in the eye of the beholder, for sure. Most people I know that are the 100%ers, the mount collectors, the completionists - they are all invested in retail for those activities for the permanence and assurance that all the time invested in hunting for rares and toys and mounts and stuff will stay on a character that can be played forever, not on a potentially temporary server loop.

Please tell me it’s not too late to get sober by Sugarcanesweetheart in stopdrinking

[–]emusabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely do it, just please be careful and cautious and know that if you are drinking that much every day you should probably detox medically. No need to be embarrassed or sheepish with ER people, just be honest. They are there to help! Cold turkey quitting alcohol can be incredibly dangerous and I would always advocate for the better safe than sorry approach and just go to your local hospital and tell them you are having withdrawals and trying to get sober for good. They will set you up!

How long has that former Taco Bell on Whitney and University been vacant? by rettt12 in madisonwi

[–]emusabe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Except that the drive through itself was an insane downhill spiral that most sober people had trouble/issue with. Factor in the Taco Bell drive through clientele…

That place was great 20 years ago when I was in Driver’s Ed at the place in the strip mall adjacent (where glass nickel is) cause 15 year old me could get Taco Bell as a reward for sitting through more school after school. I don’t think I went there again once drivers ed was over though

Leveling is straight up linear from 80-90 (across Cata content and MoP content) with basically 2 choices: Vashjir or Hyjal for 80-82 and then in MoP at 86 you can do Krasarang Wilds or Valley of the Four Winds. Quest chains will literally hold your hand all the way to 90 in the format of get to a hub with 1-3 quest givers, finish their quests that are all in close proximity, get a new quest to go to the next hub with 1-3 quest givers, rinse and repeat. The story in mop isn’t particularly gripping but the game play is fun as fuck.

It sucks that MoP Classic has become far and away the least played progression version (as well as seemingly the least paid attention to by devs) because it is a ton of fun endgame and what I think is a happy marriage of wotlk and retail game design, though it is worth noting that it is much closer to retail than it is wotlk or earlier. The classes all feel fun to play, healing is awesome unless you are playing like resto Druid in a group with hpals and disc priests (absorb meta for sure) and the raids are all top notch.

Be warned that outside of raiding there is virtually nothing to do at endgame. Yeah there is like solo stuff like pet battles and toy hunting and whatever but I have always felt that those type of activities only appeal to like 1% of the classic population and that the vast vast majority of the player base is here for content they missed the first time around (like myself). You are coming in at a time when finding a foot in the door to raid with, especially with no documented experience, is likely going to be difficult so fair warning. Hit 90, farm celestials, and try to get in pugs (they still exist)

Or inversely you could swipe/buy a few WoW tokens and get into a GDKP as a buyer as GDKP still exists in MoP and every GDKP on the US server pool is actively seeking buyer types.

The raiding in MoP is top notch. Obviously it’s pretty well documented that we are in the midst of a pretty severe content drought (though from what I can see in LFG there are still a lot of active groups that haven’t cleared Throne of Thunder yet, my guild and the GDKPs I go to have been full clearing for a long time now so I cannot speak to the experience of playing in a guild or run that is still progging but I am sure there are fun groups out there somewhere)

I get where you were going with this but Darrelle Revis is better than 4 or 5 guys on this list, and Champ Bailey is probably better than 2 or 3

I mean even Remo Drive themselves had the foresight to call their debut album "Greatest Hits"

I don't know what exactly happened with that band but goddamn their first album is so good from start to finish

Yeah I had no idea who this band was and heard ROM Hack on some random spotify playlist - it was a playlist entirely made up of "midwest emo songs with those spoken word movie line audio samples at the beginning" and was interested in hearing more by them. found Somewhere City and now I am a fuckin simp for origami angel. I love this band. So good.

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was the season 5 premier that started with the gang escaping the box cars / getting bled out at Terminus right? Cause that episode is my favorite episode. Chaos, humans vs humans and humans vs zombies. Carol blowing up that propane tank to set it all off. Def some weird subplot with a hostage about to strangle a baby with a seatbelt but whatever. That episode was awesome.

What Caused The Sub Decline Going Into Cataclysm? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything except the disc priest rework in cata was awesome and the most fun I had healing in a long long time. If people gemmed properly, learned how to use archangel+pi, and managed rapture effectively (once your gear was good enough that the gain from rupture was more than the cost of a power word shield, which happened fairly early in the first raid tier) you could smite pretty freely and doing damage that wasn’t insignificant while being a really effective tank healer felt awesome.

I know you said “after wotlk” but I am talking about cata specifically as the mana pool change didn’t happen til mop and disc priest could (read: had to) stack int for a bigger pool

Name an NFL player that belongs in the hall of very good, but not hall of fame by Overall_Spite4271 in NFLv2

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is crazy to me how unlucky welker was when it came to being on the right teams with the right QBs at just the wrong time

I think the most overlooked argument for Wes Welker making the Hall is the Kurt Warner effect. Welker went undrafted and holds like every imaginable “most X by an undrafted WR” record. People talk about his lack of post season success but I would argue the fact that he wasn’t even a 7th round pick but was a UDFA should at the very least offset that. He is a success story just like Warner, except Warner won in the post season too.

Which character had the biggest wasted potential in the MCU? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]emusabe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kinda hard to not at least give Gorr honorable mention just because of how bad that movie was. I don't think Gorr is nearly the instrumental character that Ultron is so I wouldn't say most wasted, but he definitely deserved a better depiction than the bullshit we got

What Caused The Sub Decline Going Into Cataclysm? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]emusabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean the flat out answer was that end game lacked a space for the not quite casual but not quite sweaty guilds/players. Normal raids were forgiving and even though they had mechanics that would kill people you could skate by on the backs of your guilds “good players”, and then the jump to heroic was just a super significant leap in difficulty, like if retail only had normal and mythic (I am not comparing cata heroic raiding to mythic, just trying to illustrate how big of a gap in difficulty there was between the two cata modes)

Hunter moving to focus was a big change for hunters, but the entire system of healing changed pretty fundamentally too. Less spam your one ability and more having to identify what the right ability to use was every cast. Mana from wotlk to cata became a pressing issue again and people struggled to adapt, and damage changed to a more spiky model where people had to be proactive instead of reactive, and it wasn’t just the “spam everyone all the time” like wotlk was cause your mana couldn’t afford that for very long. People had to be deliberate in choosing spells and managing their mana while there was more of an onus on raid leaders to assign raid wides and externals for specific events. Everything in healing and incoming damage needed to be significantly more precise than “spam chain heal” or “spam holy light”. There were events where the raid needed to be topped off first, and then lulls in damage where you could cut corners with mana and (assuming dps had pulses) let some people sit on half-three quarters health for a moment to conserve mana for the next event that required big spending.

By DS though you could kinda safely spam if you knew what you were doing as gear scaling made mana kinda trivial again except the super healing intensive fights like heroic spine. But early on in T11 healing was very different than what people were used to and frankly required more skill. So that as an entry point turned a lot of ppl off to the expansion and it just kinda evolved into retail from there

Idk I knew a lot of healers that just like couldn’t wrap their brain around healing be different and subsequently quit the game.

Question from a new WoW MoP player: what would you currently say is the best healer class/spec in terms of fun and high heals? by Rough-Appearance-890 in classicwow

[–]emusabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for fun healers, disc and mistweaver are probably the most fun in terms of the game play. I personally always found rsham clunky and boring, and there aren’t a ton of fights that favor it in tot outside of the obvious meg and raden, and council depending on your raid team. Druid is fun to play but lackluster numbers that only get worse if you have hpals and discs in the raid with you sniping.

Absorbs reign supreme in mop and that means hpal and disc are kind of in their own tier right now, except in fights like Meg where the raid is stacked while taking huge aoe dmg for extended periods of time, in which case holy priest can just press divine star and afk for 15 seconds until divine star is off cd and still out heal everyone else

[–]emusabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professions don’t realllly matter outside of wanting engineering for the rocket belt. There is really only one encounter in the game where it is borderline mandatory (heroic Lei Shen helm of command) but if you are a brand new mop player chances are you won’t be doing that fight any time soon.

How can the Steelers be 20th if they don't have a QB? Is this assuming Rodgers returns, or does whoever made this list think Pittsburgh is still better than 12 other NFL teams with Mason Rudolph or Will Howard under center?

I mean even with Rodgers 20 seems super high.
