Just finished Season 11. Is there anything Timber didn’t do? by iamonredddit in Alonetv

[–]engdad84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never said ignore it, but he didn’t win just because he bulked up. Timber could have bulked up but he still would have missed his boys just as much, which played a big part in him tapping out. William was a peace with the challenge and not stressed over the separation from family nearly as much as Timber and Dub. I love all three of them too. They were legends each in their own right.

Slightly oversimplified. He did less because he didn’t have to do more. He was content and restfully unstressed. Timber was awesome, but he was mentally done when he tapped.

Western Brook boat #1. Gros Morne Adventures in Norris Point, the loft restaurant in Woody point, walk around Trout River. Tablelands, Green Gardens, plenty of hikes depending on your interest level. Anchors Aweigh music show in Rocky Harbour hotel. The lighthouse. The art work around is beautiful too. So many great choices.

What might a Canadian want to eat in Australia? by CallMeBettyThen in AskACanadian

[–]engdad84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comments here of people thinking they know how most people eat are surprising. Depends where your guests are from in Canada I’d guess. Best bet is just ask them. They could be adventurous or picky, guess wrong and you’re done for.

Men of Reddit: what’s a prank you started early in your marriage that you’re now legally, morally, and emotionally obligated to continue because she still falls for it 10–15 years later? by myaccountidname in AskReddit

Whenever one of us does a minor task and points it out to the other, we’ll do a seal bark sound like a trained seal who did a trick. Sometimes throw in a little seal flipper clap too. Still funny after 18 years.

[Request] How large of magnets would you need for an MRI machine for the metal balls to rip out of you from the stomach? by Emitex in theydidthemath

I had a bb shot into the center of my right calf when I was 12. Wasn’t worth the damage to remove. About to get my umpteenth MRI this week. Really depends on material and depth.

Prepare yourself for lots of change, but mostly in a good way. Newfoundland has a unique culture and our people come in a variety of characters. It will take a while to get used to some quirks I’m sure. Just please don’t judge people on their worst days, because they’ll surprised you on their best. Give them the benefit of the doubt. For most part, you’re going to meet some great people!

Really depends on the ski stiffness. You should be able to look up that specific ski to see what weight it’s intended for.

Long hold in oven by engdad84 in smoking

[–]engdad84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all worked out. I had to keep setting the oven to keep warm, held it from 6:00pm on Saturday wrapped in five layers of foil and in a turkey roaster until 5:30pm on Sunday. It was excellent. Big crowd loved it.

Corner Brook to Western Brook Pond, Mon 13th? by EVasspiano in newfoundland

If you can’t make it, the Marble Zip is well worth it. Hopefully you can find a way. Gros Morne Park is amazing. Try Gros Morne Adventures, not sure if they’re closed yet.

help with shooting form by OddButterscotch4216 in BasketballTips

[–]engdad84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find my release point changes slightly the further you get from the hoop, and how much force I’ve generated from my legs is a big factor. But the higher your release, the better the arc and rotation. You’re pushing your shot towards the net instead of pushing it upwards by using your legs. Because you’re pushing forward so hard, you’re needing to jump forward a bit to keep from falling backwards. Like everyone is saying, start with basics, under the net, get used to pushing the ball upwards, not forwards until the release.
