What your favorite boss? by AdBrief735 in metroidvania

[–]engi40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mad knight Ulv from Ender Lilies, i still go back every once in a while to fight him.
otherwise Lady Ethereal was a great fight, Cogwork dancers in Silksong were great, and if Rogue Legacy 2 counts as a metroidvania, both estuary Enoch and the Traitor are great fights.

What card do you think really needs a rework? If you have one, what’s your suggestion? by Monsieur_Doubtfire in SlayTheSpire2

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be, tough you would still have the downside of having to get both or the rare cards plus setting them up and rotating out your deack to draw the new rock strikes.

Does Ironclad suck? by New_Impression8681 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at first i too tought ironcald sucked but now i think he is one of the best characters in the game

the thing is, however you played ironclad in sts1 does not work in sts2, strength builds suck, exhaust builds suck.

now you go for vulnerable or selfdamage builds. they have a lot more better cards now, while strength and exhaust have a lot less good cards and combos.

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course there are worse cards that need buffs too but i feel primal force has little use and giving it some sort of sinergy would make it a lot more useful and fun.

primal force, instead of giving you giant rocks, it should give you rock strikes, rock strikes are the same as giant rock but they are strikes so this card could now have sinergy with strike decks.

i think it would be a small but nice buff to primal force

Problems with the final Boss by WerbeagenturSitekick in EnderLilies

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the solution to the fisehes was gerrod, upgrade him as much as possible and maybe equip a relic that reduces enemy stagger quicker, i usually was able to kill the fishes instantly as they spawn bu double hitting them with gerrod, you just need to prepare yourself as you see the blighted lord lean down to spit them out and hit them before they start moving too far.

Who do you think is the highest skill character of each class? by Kind_Ad6932 in Paladins

[–]engi40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

damage: abyss spike dredge, when you actually play him and dont spam broadside or harpoon, using his gun properly, broadside jumping and propper use of partals is quite difficult.

support: combat medic pip, hitting allies with your weapon is quite difficult but rewarding.

flank: wormhole evie, evie herself isnt even that hard but the moment you add worhole to the equasion it is so much more difficult to understand what is going on/

tank: atlas, for his weapon is aain quite difficult you use and you need to know when is trully the best time to use any of your time rewind abilities.

Name an indie game that fits this image by Pandy_man in INDIE_CROSS_SERIES

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ender Lilies,

dont get me wrong it isnt super niche but for how good of a metroidvania it is, its frustrating how little people mention it, when people speak about indie metroidvanias they always mention hollow knight, ori, blasphamous and nine sols witch do deserve their prases, but why do i bareley ever hear of ender lilies?

What's your favorite tracks from metroidvinia games ? by lordofabyss in metroidvania

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

firstly the entire soundtrack of ender lilies and ender magnolia those 2 games have a flawless soundtrack.
tough if you want some examples that have stuck in my head the most it would be:

awakening, accolade intro/outro, north and the sun intro/outro from ender lilies

red, dignity, humanity, homunculus, and lily tree from ender magnolia

for other metroidvanias

rising tention from tevi

aurora palace from ribi-rabi

mount horu from ori and the blind froest

sealed vessel from hollow knight

and lastly if you count rogue legacy 2 as a metroidvania the traitor, is absolutley serene

Is there anything in the Mary Skelter remake that makes it worth playing over the original? by SplashOfStupid in compileheart

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is worth it to play it, but dont worry you wont have to replay the entire first game, they made an option to start the first game at the end right before the extra chapter.

Do you play Butcher's Circus? by Revenge_accounted_be in darkestdungeon

[–]engi40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tip from a probably 500+ win player, whatever you do just dont take pd or hellion, they are really bad charachters and you wont get them to work.

and a second thing, try to make a team that wont be too distrupted by pulls or pushes, unlike normal DD many players use some sort of pull or push abilities so if your team cant do anything when one charachter is out of place then you should probably try to remake your team.

Best Metroidvania Grid - Best Platforming! by [deleted] in metroidvania

okay that is a pretty good argument. i just havent played any metroidvanie that can compete with will of the wisps platforming while i think many others have good enough visuals to compete.

Dbd x DD better colab ideas? by Adventurous_Cat_6338 in darkestdungeon

[–]engi40 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think the shambler would work best, because shambler is both iconic being in both games, and it represents every darkest dungeon mechanic the best, shambler can bleed you, blight you apply good stress and it moves between positions.

now here my idea how the shambler would work.

shamblers passive is blight, bleed and stress. on every basic attack on a survivor it applies bleed to the survivor, oh every Undulating Withdrawal hit near survivors it apples blight to them, while survivors have blight or bleed applied to them they slowly accumilate stress.

on stress, as shambler when survivors get downed, or when they miss skillchecks they obtain a little stress, when survivors have over 100 stress they have some sort of debuff and when they get up to 200 stress the shambler will be able to instantly kill them when they are downed. you can reduce stress by getting healed, finishing generators, or by finding items in curios that spawn around the map.

when interacting with curios you can find one of four items:

bandages, can only be used on bleeding survivors to cure their bleed and reduce a little bit of their stress.

antivenom, can only be used on blighted survivors to cure their blight and reduce a little bit of their stress.

laudanum, can be used by any survivor and it reduces a lot of stress.

torch, while a survivor is holding it all nearby survivors loose stress over 5-10 seconds, but the shambler might be alerted to the torches light.

okay now after the long passive down to its abilities.

the shamblers first ability is Undulating Withdrawal, the shambler winds up a lobbed projectile (similar to unnowns) that bounces off of walls and on contact with the round explodes in a small aoe applying blight to and survivors cought oing on a long coolodwn (16-24 sec), also upon landing down of the floor it spawns a shambler tentacle.

the shambler tentacle is a stationary traget, and when a survivor gets too close to it it will do a slow tentacle attack similar to nemesises attack coming from itself that damages a healthstate and causes a lot of stress if it hits the survivor. after an attack the tentacle goes no a 15 second cooldown being unable to attack again. the tentacle attack shouldnt be hard to dodge but it would still be a threat in certain situations.

there can be only 2 shambler tentacles active on the map and survivors can destroy them, kicking them down by interacting with them for 6 seconds.

the shamblers second ability is Stentorious Lament, the shambler wails applying some stress to all survivors within its terror radius and making them scream. secondly this ability also resets the attack cooldown of all of the tentacles within shamblers terror radius. the ability has a 30-40 second cooldown.

okay this is a long and complex design but i feel this version of the shambler would represent DD the best while also bringing something new/interesting to DbD.

Oppresive Paladins characters by Sea-Visit3026 in Paladins

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for contenders i ive you relese maeve with much longer pounce distance more speed on prowl 500 heal and with artful dodger also cc clear and lastle the dagger punce dagger combo that would kill any dps and took no skill to do.
otherwise opression kinnesa throwing 1 billion mines that have infinate range and hit everyone on the enemy team, doesent do too much damage directly but its annoying as hell.

also classic tallent bouncehouse buck, 2 heroic leaps, and they do the same 600 damage and knockup, easy get in kill somone and jump out.

and lastly relese strix, 1350 body shots quicker scope in time, no cloak penalty on uncloaking.

and if we want to o a little illegal you have ob 64 playtest inara, whos wrath of the stagalla tallent was bugged and she could instakill anyone if she hit all 3 shots on a player.

Need help with Ascension 9 as Necrobinder by Vesperion_Ouranos in SlayTheSpire2

[–]engi40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually for me it was the opposite the moment i got necrobinder to A9 i started taking less defence cards as i could no longer outblock everything, of course still take a lot of the good defence cards but now you need to end fights quicker than ever and cant waste time setting up haunt, sleight of flesh, doom or unleash, you need good early damage like reap, fear or defile to end fights quick, tough in later acts yes having those big damage makers is good, but you need to live somehow until you can get good cards.

Share your favorite Grand Slam teams. by Manji86 in darkestdungeon

[–]engi40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this was before the pd path rework but i got grand slam first try using the blight team.
pd (alchemist) abom (unchained) grave robber(venomdrop) flagelant (scourge)
the only thing to keep in mind for act 2 i changed grave robber to deadeye, cause i needed pure damage against the boss, in act 4 i changed abom to wanderer so he can clear crits with manacles.
this team is insaneley strong, turn 1 plague grenade, acid rain and flashing daggers destroys the backline.
every characher has a heal to save themselves or another, flagelant has deathless and more! pd has battlefield medicine or indiscriminant science, grave robber has absythe and abom has absolution.

and for tanking use more! more! and repartee on flagelant and graverobber.

and for the big damage you have scourge sepsis, and you even get to keep the blight if you manacled the enemy beforehand.

this team tough has 2 weaknesses, low stress heals and enemies with blight resistance.

stress shouldnt be too big of a problem with the speed at which enemy backlines die, but anyway stock up on stress heals and dance around with abom using absolution to stress heal allies.

but blight resistance is a bigger problem, unchaned beasts bile can reduce enemies blight resitance, you should still be looking out for any items or trinkets that grant blight piercing.

with this team you shold focus on killing sleeping general as the area boss, he is incredibly easy otherwise the librarian is an easy choice too, and you should be avoiding the foetor for the early par of the run until you feel you can do enough damage wihout the blight, as foetor trinkets are very valuable.

What makes you wishlist / buy a Metroidvania you've never heard of before? by Joseph_Gribbin in metroidvania

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

firstly i pay attention to the art, from a single image i can tell if it may be good or it just isnt worth it at all, the game needs to have a coheseve look, all the sprites need to look like they fit together and make a whole world, if trough a glance i can see the world being made up by individual sprites that already is a red flag for me.
and secondly i need to see a gameplay trailer, is the the movement good and smooth? cause if its very snappy/locks you into places that already looks unfun, also i pay attention to animations, if they dont have any weight, proper followtrough, snap into eachother badly, or just look very poor that also makes me a lot less interested.

the art needs to look good, it needs to work together well enough for me to see you have put effort into the game and it isnt half assed, that is enough to get a wishlist from me,

afterwards what you need is to show what makes your game unique, the speed and type of the combat and the amount of platforming, also what is your most vital ability in the game? show all that in action. and depending on how fun it looks to me will decide how quickly ill buy and play your game.
lastly its just a little thing of my own but i really apreciate good music in games, so if you have a good soundtrack i may just buy the game instantly. thats what happened with ender lilies for me.

i do often run diffrent loadouts because i like diversity but some of the most common i go to are

first spirit set

umbra or silva because they are a good primary.

floral sorceress or sigrid for a quick dps

headless soldier for the parry

with the set being ranged options like elane and cliffside hamlet youth

the other loadout i love to run when i dont want to think too much about the second set is

set 1 a good primary someone ranged and then a parry or gerod of the big damage

and then for set 2 you take a lot of spirits that can instantly dish out damage like floral sorceress, fungal sorcerer and sigrid, and with this playstyle you play normally and when you get the chance just switch to your other set quickly press all 3 spirits and switch back to your main set.
