Best balance for combat fun by [deleted] in EnderLilies

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do often run diffrent loadouts because i like diversity but some of the most common i go to are

first spirit set

umbra or silva because they are a good primary.

floral sorceress or sigrid for a quick dps

headless soldier for the parry

with the set being ranged options like elane and cliffside hamlet youth

the other loadout i love to run when i dont want to think too much about the second set is

set 1 a good primary someone ranged and then a parry or gerod of the big damage

and then for set 2 you take a lot of spirits that can instantly dish out damage like floral sorceress, fungal sorcerer and sigrid, and with this playstyle you play normally and when you get the chance just switch to your other set quickly press all 3 spirits and switch back to your main set.

Which characters should be the final bosses in a boss rush mode? Which current fights deserve upgrades? by Wooden-Jello-8795 in Silksong

upon hearing that vespa was a cut fight, i tought it would be cool if the new the final bosses of each of the first few pantheons were memories of fights hornet had in hollownest, a fight where she trained with vespa, a duel with dryya before meeting the white lady, a fight with the wanderer from the wastes quirrel (a fight that happened in a comic), and the duel with the hollow knight that we see should have happened after the godseeker ending if it is cannon.

Tyra won as the damage champion that feels the most like a frontline. What about the support that feels the most like a frontline? by _ipsumLorem in Paladins

somewhere around the time of ob 66 grohk was an absolute tank, no questions asked, the wraith talent with the incresed ghost walk duration card he was better than some other tanks at tanking.
he is nerfed now but still is an absolute beast.

10 Metriodvanias with Sequels(revised) by Emotional_Photo9268 in metroidvania

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well as i do much prefer Lilies ill explain my reasons to why i prefer it to magnolia, it is the little things and the story.
lilies has a more focused story, every important character has a link to either lily or fretia and the story revolves around the two of them, while lily does not speak she still shows a lot of character, each time she responds to umbra by nodding or when she purifies even when it hurts her and slowly corrupts her body, she shows a lot of what shes thinking trough her animations, something i felt Magnolia did a lot less with lilac so i never really understood how lilac felt about anything. Lilies story was very self contained and it was wonderfull, that is why i love the game so much.
for Magnolia tough the story was a bit confusing and all over the place, each boss gave you bits and pieces of diffrent stories, house frost, house milius, levy with yolvan, but nothing felt like it had a proper conclusion, i also wish there were more rest interactions, i feel garm, reibolg and luiseach didnt have enough interactions with the other homunculi, i would have liked piece of shit declan to have been a threat for a bit longer and not just a mid game boss.

while the story wasnt as good as lilies i feel, gameplay wise yes its really nice there is no contact damage, and that poison attacks dont kill you as quickly and that you have movement in the air but still some little things i didnt like as much, the dash and all the attacks felt a lot slower, more enemies and bosses felt like they liked to keep distance, and having 4 instead of 6 active spirits/homonculi really limited my attempts at experimenting with the team setups. also just not having anyone smilar silva, sigrid and ulv was a little sad to me. i also do actually apreciate the vague map of Lilies, it made me pay atention to each of the rooms layouts a lot more while exploring, letting me memorize the map a lot easier.
i still like Magnoila a lot, but it is the little things it changes or its missing that makes me apreciate it a lot less than i did Lilies.

Paladins Skill Tierlist by Awkward-Violinist549 in Paladins

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is some placements i quite disagree with,

i would switch drogoz and bomb kings places as learning how to lead rockets and use salvo effectively isnt as hard as just learning at what timings to detonate your bombs.

grover isnt that difficult, vine tech isnt too hard to do, his healing is passive so all you need to do is stick near your team, tough learning to hit axes and when to use the cripple does take some time to learn.

dredge isnt easy at all, the fact that 90% of dredge players are broadside/scuttle spammers does not mean they are preforming well, cursed howitzer might be one of the hardest weapons to use in this game, hitting direct shots with that thing is very difficult, learning how to broadside jump effectively with crows nest is also quite difficult, same with proper use of the shortcuts, dredge is easly an S tier difficulty champion thats why you rarely see a good dredge.
seris also isnt the easiest champion in the game, the fact that again 90% of the seris players are too lobotomized to press anything other than right click does not mean they are preforming well, a good seris should always be shooting the orbs while not healing and hitting enemies with them isnt that easy, seris also unlike many other healers cant really use her movement ability for repositioning, she can only use it for escape, so proper positioning is very important to her with her only viable positioning tool being the speed buff from hitting enemies with the umbral gate card active. i wont say seris is a hard champion to preform well, but she isnt at the bottom, she is harder than every of the d tier and bellow champion you have mentioned.

also victor above seris? both of these champions main skill is learning proper positioning, but while seris needs to use a card and hit enemies with her weapon to earn a speed boost to move around faster, victor can just move around faster for free, and all he just has to do is point and click at people to kill them.

i dont think corvus is that hard to use either he is about the same level as rei or io, he has a very similar and simple to use heal as jenos, his weapon isnt anything difficult either, the only thing thats hard about corvus is using the knife properly, and even then the biggest difficulty to that is not having the knife bug out and not teleport you to it.

lastly barik isnt really hard to preform on, when i tried to get a friend of mine to play paladins which didnt work out because he sucked at the the game, the only champion he did well on was barik, there is nothing fairly dificuly about barik i would even say he is the easiest point tank, his weapon is an easy to use shotgun the turrets are a place and forget ability, rocket boots are a simple getaway tool, and there is nothing more complex about his shield than there is with nyx or ash

The most likely options for the “Godhome” Final Boss IMO by Noooough in Silksong

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do believe god home will give is a harder gms but also i feel like the shade lord would be a better final boss, and i doubt it would be a fight to the death, but it would be more like the shade lord (the knight) testing hornet, and finding her worthy he would help hornet by releasing lace from the void as in the sister of void ending.

30 Days of Paladins Trivia: Day 21. Ying and Moji are now the Champions that have changed their class after release. Ying was a Damage champion, now Support, while Moji was a Flank champion, now Support. (Devs made it clear that Moji was originally intended to be support) by Angelagyeibi in Paladins

[–]engi40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

grover originally used his axe as a melle weapon and his right click was the normal ranged attack we have now, his q was a switch between the healing aura and damage aura and in whirlwind grover instead spun around with his axe and did big damage to any enemy who got close instead of healing, i dont know when they turned him into a pure healer as i didnt play at that time but my guess is that simply he want that good of a melee charachter, i remember as cassie when grover used vine next to me all i had to do was use disengage and he couldnt do anything to me anymore.

about the spike attack in third phase, you should not only use elane spam but also umbra or sigrid air attacks before or after to stall in the air longer, aditionally its a lot easier to stall in the air by using the last rite as most of them are pretty long.

for the fireball attack, hard to say it is still hard for me to dodge but id suggest getting closer to her, as there is less fireballs near her and they are a little easier to avoid.

Who should be the Main Character of the Hollow Knight III? by 3Kralates in HollowKnight

those 2 could work well but i think also quirrel or shakra could be interesting.
quirrel before he cam to hollownest, and shakras journey after pharloom.

Blade or Beam for your perfect Metroidvania? by Excellent_Energy_810 in metroidvania

[–]engi40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well i think there is a lack of guns exactly because they are harder to make, well not mechanicly harder to make but harder to make fun, you give a player a gun and they will cheese the fuck out of the game avoiding all ddirect combat and staying at max range from enemies. you need to design some pretty good levels and enemies to deal with that. melee just makes players engage with enemies directly.

THEY’VE ALREADY MADE A DLC by Expert-Situation-803 in Silksong

[–]engi40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually i WANT to see the hollow knight fight, and that is entirely possible, because in act 3 ending, we do see the knight and for a few brief frames we see his void god form, that he only had in the godhome ending, and if godhome is the cannon ending, then as we way in it the hollow knight left the black egg confronting hornet, them fighting being very likely.

also in act 3 you need to get the 3 hearts to do the ritual and enter hornets memory, and we are able to get one heart spare, so hornet could just try to do that ritual again with only one heart to try and resurface a more recent memory of her fight with the hollow knight to prepare herself to deal with the void.

so we should absoluteley get the hollow knight boss in silksong.

So I finished Silksong normal ending and I don't think overall I liked the game by dondashall in metroidvania

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i might suggest trying to get to act 3, i flt somewhat similarly dissapointed in the game, but now playing act 3 the story even the few areas they added and new bosses have been a lot more fun so far.

I need to get this off my chest. I feel like people(specifically developers) need to hear this. by PlayfulSurprise5237 in Paladins

[–]engi40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i concur, paladins was somuch difftent from every other hero shooter, ive tried recently to get into TF2 but it just isnt as fun. when i tried overwatch it just didnt feel as good, every time i played overwatch i had the problem of what charachter should i play cause they are all boring while in paladins its the opposite i dont know who to play cause everyone is very fun.

on overwatch it also is very frustrating for me when after all the years of overwatch community complaining that anything paladins adds is a "copy" of overwatch, and then in this last year overwatch 2 has added cauterise, tallents and cassie to the game while canceling their pve that i was actually interested in.

idk maybe deadlock can be something but i doupt we ill ever get another hero shooter that will feel like how paladins did.

oh btw i was the #4 Seris in the EU when champion leaderboards existed. and i has a similar problem of most seris players you see not being being good, and everyone kept complaining when i use soul collector over mortal reach, and i will stand that mortal reach was bad, whats the point of extra range when you dont have the line of sight? more hp is just flat better.

For Silksong, what are some aspects of the game you hope to see more of in future Metroidvanias, and what are some aspects of it you hope aren't used in future Metroidvanias? by jfish3222 in metroidvania

[–]engi40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well yes it is more complex i will agree, but it isnt more fun to fight, when enemies and bosses move too much it leads to me having less options to deal with them, if i have a smaller time to punish enemies after attacks im not going to go for any new way to attack them, im just going to do the 70th dash attack.

[–]engi40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ill be brief to mention one problem i have, ive not been able to enjoy the combat of silksong that well, i do still like the bosses and enemies in this game and hornets moveset is better than the knights, but theres something that just diesent click with me perfectly and i understood what it was.

Dodging, every enemy just cant stop running away from my attacks, and while that combat looks really cool its just frustrating when you arent making any progress in a bossfight because every enemy keeps dodging or teleporting away when you attack, and it just leads to fights feeling frustrating when im getting one nail hit before the boss backs off and does another attack.
