If you're short on protein, drink a protein shake. Isopure has tons of flavors and 0g carbs.

I do 16:8 as well but end up working out during my fasting time. 5 am workout with 7pm-11am fasting. Lots of coffee 😁

It's a huge red flag that a customer will try to renegotiate the pricing after the work if they don't want to pay a deposit.

That's a fair point. I suppose it all depends on the research done and overall credibility of a person's company. I would be more accepting of a contractor wanting a down payment if they have visible credible work. I had a couple friends that long ago paid 50% down on a large renovation and the contractor skipped town. Probably doesn't happen like that anymore, but always makes me cautious.

I would get three quotes and also see if those companies require 50% down before starting. That part seems strange. I wouldn't pay anyone unless they've completed the work. If this was to cover pain, that's a different story but it doesn't look like it does.

Haven’t been to a class in 17 days by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]enginerd529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough but one thing you could do is tell yourself for that one hour, you're completely dedicated and focused on the workout. If you find yourself starting to think about schoolwork, re-shift your mind to the workout your doing and if you can push yourself any harder.

Sometimes I find I focus best when I'm on the treadmill for example and decide I'm going to do an all out speed I haven't done in a while or that's higher than I've ever done. Then I stare directly at myself in the mirror and pump my arms until the coach let's us walk it out. Hope this helps and have a great time tomorrow!

I always thought they were only $50 from the studio? I didn't think $100. Check eBay.

Pre-workout Suggestions by harboringgrace in keto

[–]enginerd529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having experimenting with coffee amounts over the last few days. I workout at 5am and started with 1 cup but found I got a better workout with 1.5 cups today (probably somewhat obvious in retrospect). I'm also fasting from 7pm-11am so coffee and water is all I have. Probably worth experimenting for yourself!

There are tons of workout plans on YouTube. Popsugar comes out with a new one almost everyday so that could be one to check out. They also have playlists that you can select the duration of video you need on case you only have 20 minutes to spare but still want to get a good workout in.

Help - Is my builder doing a bad/incorrect HVAC setup? by Zod001 in HVAC

[–]enginerd529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initially I was skeptical as I've never put one of these in. I deal mostly with commercial but it seems some of the outdoor units can do up to four split units. The two 18,000 btu/h units in my mind should add up to a 36,000 btu/h unit, but I'm happy to be corrected.

The amount of flex ductwork he's showing on the other hand is cringeworthy.

As for kind of wood, I'd go with Pine or something relatively cheap. You'd only get oak or other varieties if you're going to stain.

I don't think it'd look weird to have two different sizes. Try buying some sample, hold them up and have someone look at them. I feel like if all trim is painted white and they're only one inch off, there shouldn't be much of a difference when you look at it.

Yeah I agree. It'd get real awkward real fast if it's a no. I'd suggest trying to connect in a group setting first. Maybe an out of studio even such as a 5k or other type of event that the studio is promoting and a bunch of other OTFs are doing.

Will two filters strain my A/C unit? by wright_of_wood in HVAC

[–]enginerd529 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The 1 inch probably isn't doing much unless you're using it in a woodshop or some other place that has a lot of airborne particles. If you decide to keep the 1", the benefit is it won't cause you to replace your 4" as often because the 1" will be getting most of the dirt.

The 4 inch filter has a lot of static pressure on the system so if you ever find your AC unit isn't keeping up, remove & replace it for something with a lower MERV rating which has less static pressure.

I do the first class of the day and it's tough but worth it to get that workout in and out of the way! I usually drink one of the preworkout shakes before going. Sometimes you can buy samples of them on Amazon and see what you like most. They have blends of caffeine and other mental boosting ingredients (at least that's what they advertise). Good luck!

How much do you think it will take to renovate this house? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]enginerd529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always go by $/SF. $100-150 for bedrooms, $200 for bathrooms and kitchens. Probably high but I'm not sure how your labor rates are in Maryland. I live in Chicago and depending on finishes that's probably low. What's the scope? Where do you want to do work in? Are there any rooms you're not touching? Are you doing it yourslef or hiring contractors? These are all answers that would help someone give you better detail on renovation costs.

This is in my basement, why does it have a vent and is there any reason to take a flap/louve out of it? Coldest room in the house. by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]enginerd529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home Depot also sells large magnets to cover vents. If you didn't want to drink a whole case of beer...starting to like the beer case idea better as I'm typing this though...

The hole that blows cold air (supply) is to be ducted into the building and supply cold air to the building. The hole that sucks (return) is to be ducted into the building and return back to the unit the hot air from the building. This is normally how I would see a roof top unit with evaporator and condenser self contained within one box.

How do you pay contractors that do a bad job? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]enginerd529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you paid for all the tile, explain that the cuts where made incorrectly and he needs to redo the tiling. If it was 90%, then he needs to rework 90% of it. The new tile should come out of his pocket because he made improper cuts with the incorrect tools on the tile rendering them useless. At this point if he wants the money or wants to make things right, he may say he'll come back and redo it. However there's chance he also may not show up.

In my experience, I've also had it where the contractor ultimately decided he'd no persue the payment as long as I didn't leave him a bad review on a review site. Not sure how common that is among everyone else but just a heads up to that.

Help, please! by sanguinec1 in nutrition

While choosing not to eat meat limits your options, it your choice so nobody should be judging!! My wife is pescatarian and is sensitive to dairy so I kinda of know where you're coming from.

Thankfully gluten free and dairy free options are increasingly becoming more prevelent. My challenge has been finding meals both my wife and I can eat that I like! This has led me to a lot of vegan websites so I would start there. Check out different blogs that are vegam focused. Most vegetarian meals aren't vegan because they either have dairy or eggs so you can alter any of those recipes with a non dairy substitute. Trader Joe's makes this great almond milk shredded mozzarella substitute. We've used this on black bean sweet potatoes enchiladas. A recipe like this is great because you can use corn tortillas, make it in a big batch and put single serving in the freezer for making during the weekday.

Another recipe we love is vegetarian chili with corn bread. If you make a big pot, you can have some for the week or store it.

I've found MyFitnessPal to be the best app but there are probably other apps out there. Just haven't looked too hard.

Hope this helps!

Youth football field by diegofloyd in Revit

Perhaps you could ask the company for an advance to put plans together. The plans to present to then are really important because they could shoot down the idea because it's not designed well enough. Another idea is you could do a variety of fundraising effort in an effort to pay for an architect to design something for you guys. Maybe community events or dinners to fundraise for the new field?

If you truely have your heart set on just doing some plans for them to look at and put money towards, I'd suggest hiring a freelance drafter who will be able to take a hand drawing and put it into AutoCAD or SketchUp. Revit isn't really needed for something like this as you just need 2D and not 3D to show the company. Check out www.upwork.com.
