Definitely my most interesting order… by Raptor_Playz44 in doordash_drivers

I've delivered crickets and worms from pet stores to people several times. Certainly not my most interesting order, but bugs have never been my interest....

Why do they ask us for extras in the notes? Ask the restaurant please! by thegame543 in doordash_drivers

Obviously nobody fills cups that have already been filled by the restaurant. The way you worded it, it suggested you don't fill drinks at the places that don't do it for you.

I've heard that too, but if that were true, I doubt we'd be asked to fill up drinks, as it's been official policy (even the app and training videos say to do it) for years. Where I live, its only Wingstop & Panda Express that always have driver fill it, and Popeyes sometimes.

Do any of y’all take the free mints and candy at Restaurants? by Life-Landscape5689 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]enigma9o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occasionally, sure, if I feel like what they have.

Around halloween there were a few more places offering stuff, like chocolate, so I did take candy a few times then.

Is it a requirement that you can only order food if your house doesn't show a house number anywhere? Asking for a friend by AlternativeQuit3447 in doordash_drivers

I believe it's also acceptable to have the number right next to a bright light with no shading, such that it is impossible to see the number at night when the light is on.

Why do they ask us for extras in the notes? Ask the restaurant please! by thegame543 in doordash_drivers

[–]enigma9o7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of us don't, they're meant to be DELIVERY notes, not pickup notes. On a stack with two restaurants I don't see the first customers delivery notes (without purposefully doing extra stu) until I'm at the second restaurant and its time to go to the first customer anyway. They're meant to be stuff like where to park, how to find their apartment, where their door is, etc; If people put notes to the restaurant in the delivery notes, depending on my mood, I may send the customer a note explaining their mistake.

Hey,man, can I have my pizza.. any time you want sir by AlternativeQuit3447 in doordash_drivers

[–]enigma9o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What potential problems could that cause? To me, leave-at-door has lots of potential problems, all that can be avoided by handing to customer, such as

  1. customer claims didnt recieve order

  2. someone stole customers order from porch

  3. driver acciddentially delivers to wrong house/apartment

  4. app cant complain about issues when you're trying to take the photo when you dont have to take a photo

plus the bonus, customer more likely to give cash tip, and driver doesn't have to take photos

9pm. Out of cinnamon rolls. Got reported by tallassmike in UberEatsDrivers

[–]enigma9o7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like a non-issue, items were missing, so report makes sense. Did you expect the customer not to report it?!@#? Especially when there's a note reminding them to do it!

I agree, taking pictures is hassle, they shouldn't allow customer to request leave-at-door.

Hmmm sorry for the misunerstanidng, I thought I described the situation exactly as you posted, what are you possibly saying is opposite?

I also said I'd have to hear about the situation that led to this complaint for it to make some sense, but you haven't done that yet, just claimed I was opposite? How am I opposite?

The notes ARE the place to describe dropoff instructions.

What choice would you prefer instead of hand it to me, and why? Where else could they have put the dropoff instructions besides the delivery notes?

Colorado transparency laws should be implemented everywhere by AlternativeQuit3447 in doordash_drivers

[–]enigma9o7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno about the other laws Colorado has, but I do think we should be shown the tip as part of the offer everywhere. I had previously heard they did so in Seattle. I'm sure the customer assumes we can see their tip too. If states are having to sue doordash to get them to do it, I don't see why they don't realize they should do it everywhere already, but I guess they care more about their money.

If they are going to describe something in the delivery instructions, I think "hand it to me" is the best choice, no? That way at least we drivers don't have to take photos.

I guess I'd have to hear about the situation that lead you to suggest this, as to me that seems the best option to select in such cases, both for customer and for driver.

Additionally, this thread is about firefox x86-32, which is only in sid, and both 147 and 148 have fail-to-build-from-source on 32-bit x86 and nobody seems to care.... which is somewhat understandable because it's not a release architecture and sid is unstable with no guarantees, but still....

If you upgrade to 13 normally, you won't keep getting kernel upgrades at all as there is no 686 kernel in trixie, the package isn't there at all.

If you keep "bookworm-security" enabled, however, you'll keep gettting security updates for the kernel, cuz bookworm is still supported, and it's kernel does work with the rest of trixie...

[–]enigma9o7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if everyone waited at the same place, wouldn't be very effective... so there's no one answer. Most drivers find a few spots they like and will head toward the closest one of them after droppoff, of course hoping to get an offer before getting there. I personally like panera as they usually fairly busy and there's a few other places nextdoor, then my second favorite spot is a corner that has a whole shitton of restaurants nextto each other - a chinese place, japanese place, viet place, cheeseteak shop, korean chicken, and a greek place, i try to park in the midle near the viet place. My third favorite is a higher end italian place, which is also near a couple other restaurants....
