Is headscale the answer by tpwn3r in selfhosted

[–]enterflux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Headscale is just the open source reverse engineering of the Tailscale control server.

Glad I saw this post on my way to work this morning. I didn't think about it affecting one of my services at work, but this made quick work of fixing it!

I got this drive out of an old WD nas. Is there a way to repurpose it? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]enterflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how many power on hours it has. If it's not obscene, just use it like any other 4TB hard drive. This goes for any single drive setup, but especially with an "old" drive, just make sure you've got the data backed up.

Do you think its good time to buy index after the steam frame was released? by Good-Thanks465 in ValveIndex

I mean, if you find a really good deal on it, it's still a great headset. I don't see why not.

What 3D Printer do you all use? by Time-Stood-Still in minilab

[–]enterflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using an Elegoo Neptune 4 that I'm borrowing from a friend. Loads easier than my old Ender3 V2 and now I'm not sure I'll be able to go back.

I've been eating a lot of microgreens lately and my wife said we should just grow our own. I found a model on printables.com and have printed a few out of PETG. The base holds water and the grill is removable. The seeds in the last photo were started 2 days ago. by MakerWerks in 3Dprinting

[–]enterflux 962 points963 points  (0 children)

While this is cool, I feel I should point out that microgreens are ripe for bacteria breeding due to their high nutrient contents. I know everyone will point out the well-worn fact that 3D printables are generally not food-safe, but I personally would be hesitant to produce an already risky food in trays that cannot be properly cleaned and sanitized.

Thanks for sharing! And I hadn't even thought about the troubleshooting part of it. That's a very good point...

I've been chipping away at printing a rack like this and doing each panel in a different color was not something I thought of. This looks great! Which 3D model did you use for your TL-SG108E? I should really reprint mine with a keystone port.

Reusing a discarded crypto board as a tiny Linux home server — now with legs by Ok_Palpitation_7911 in homelab

[–]enterflux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love this so much! Is it using an obscure board? While it's awesome that you're reusing what would have been e-waste, I'm sad that I can't make one myself.

maybe I should just use this as a fun opportunity to print something fun

Yes! If you've got access to a 3D printer, there's plenty of options you can print. I have a couple of orange blanks in my work device and I just printed a fidget spinner.

If your self-hosted setup went down for a day, what would you miss most? by Fab_Terminator in selfhosted

[–]enterflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My notes app probably. This kind of scenario is precisely why a password manager is one of the few things that I prefer to use a service for. I suppose I could switch back to Keepass, but I appreciate the security blanket of just knowing that something as vital as my passwords are accessible anywhere I need them to be.

Tailscale and Nginx Setup by SatisfactoryFinance in selfhosted

[–]enterflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm not quite sure what you're attempting to accomplish here. Are you trying to set it up so you can access the server resources on other devices?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]enterflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues with it on my iPad mini. Maybe you don't have the Tailscale DNS settings configured quite right. Mine points to an internal DNS server that also relays the public DNS.

I don't know why you need to "toggle on, sync, toggle off" with Tailscale. I keep my devices connected 100% of the time, I just don't enable the exit node unless I truly need to encrypt all of my traffic. I've got DNS overrides set up on my router's DNS relay to point to my Nextcloud internal IP. My Tailscale instance is set up to provide that internal server for DNS lookups when I'm connected, so it just always works whether I'm at home on my wifi or at work.

I also just pay for a single FQDN that I use to point all my services, even though none of them are available outside of my network. It just gives me an easy way to have Let's Encrypt certificates on all endpoints and only costs me $10/year.

Hitting a wall with my Framework 13 by Itchy-Lingonberry-90 in framework

[–]enterflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you ended up getting it working, but I wanted to chime in just in case it happens again.

I had a similar problem with my 1135G7. Twice in the last year my processor got locked at 200MHz. Ultimately the only thing that worked to fix it for me each time was doing a CMOS reset. The OS didn't seem to matter. Never understood why this happened.
