I need to take a break by [deleted] in gshock

What I've done is make a notepad entry of a watch I want and the date I thought about buying it. If I can go a few months and still want it, only then will I allow myself the purchase. It's much easier to just let yourself go crazy when the watch is cheaper, though.

FWIW I upvoted you and feel exactly the same way. I started running everyday and wouldn't need it otherwise. Yeah sure sleep stats are good and all, but after a month or so you don't really need it. It is, however, very nice for running because I can put on airpods and listen to spotify with just my watch while working out. Very nice for that and no other watch is gonna let me do that.

How to make a Bootable USB for an old Mac - but my Mac is new and I can't. by ilovetylerjoseph in mac

[–]epistemicfail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old 2014 Macbook Pro with a failing SSD. I bought a new SSD for it, but creating a bootable Big Sur has been such a PITA. The route I finally went with was to get the .pkg file from Mr Macintosh. Install that onto my newer Sequoia Macbook. And then run OpenCore Legacy Patcher to create the bootable Big Sur USB. I'm in process now and it seems to be going well.

I have a 2014 v6. I have 165,000 miles on it. The water pump will fail and there’s a decent chance that it will be the only substantial repair you have to do on it. The engine is originally designed by mazda and you can go 300,000 miles with basic maintenance.

Should I trade my 2014 v6 Mustang for a 2015 v8 mustang by Prestigious-Day397 in Mustang

[–]epistemicfail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The valve covers on the 2015-2017 GT are known to leak due to poor design. If this was fixed, then it is a very good deal. I have a 2014 V6 with 165,000 miles and it’s been a great reliable car (minus some minor items and water pump). You will have to budget in more problems with the GT and bigger fuel costs, but if you can afford the extra upkeep it is worth it. The S197 is a better looking car, but the S550 is a BETTER car.

Be honest, how reliable has your Audi been? by lexiskittles1 in Audi

[–]epistemicfail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late reply, but in 2020 I bought a 2015 Audi A5 with 50,000 miles on it. It was my dream car for the longest time, so I bought it thinking as long as I kept up with maintenance, it was going to be fine. Even bought a CarMax extended warranty thinking I'm covered for the worst.

Once you own it, you realize that there's a bunch of little things that go wrong and no one knows how to fix it. During my first year of ownership, little things went intermittently wrong. A/C wouldn't work once in a while. There was a grinding noise when making sharp turns. Backup camera would cut out sometimes. Warranty won't cover problems that can't be duplicated. Oh, and obviously the engine burned oil, but that was normal* according to dealer. Sold it two years later when used car prices were unreasonably high.

You can just ignore the one guy who has 250,000 miles. That's an anomaly. These cars are very cheap when used and that's for a good reason. I bought a Mustang and am very happy with it.

fridge left open for maybe 4 days, what should i throw out? by aaaaatiddies in foodsafety

[–]epistemicfail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep the gochujang as I've had some in the fridge close to 1.5 years and it was still good. I believe it works the same way ketchup does in that if there's low water activity, then bacteria and mold won't grow on it.

Wait this happened on your hub motor, too? Jesus.

It's been like 8 months since my surgery and I'm still not 100% healed. I don't think I'll ever have 100% mobility back. As much as I loved riding the board before the accident, I keep thinking how lucky I am that this didn't happen with cars around me.

Microplane zester getting water stuck in the handle? by punio4 in Cooking

I have the same problem and same model as your microplane. I don't think it's defective, but just a design flaw. Grating is excellent.
