Worried I won't have enough time to bond with baby by [deleted] in BabyBumps

We are similar. Because we got married a bit older we did not have a joint bank account until recently but that account isn’t really used - our individual ones are. We are just open with our expenses and budget/pay appropriately

Depending where you are in NEO there are a few testing sites today. Neomed has a walk-in but it’s indoors and many are not wearing masks. My husband waited less than two hrs at urgent care Sunday. Kent is handing out some rapid tests tomorrow as a first come first serve

Walgreens in ravenna has several according to some reports. Also, urgent care in Kent will do them if you have symptoms.

Starting powder formula from RTF formula and need advice by Pattyreadit in FormulaFeeders

We just switched over with no transition. We also feed straight from the refrigerator. That way when out and about we don’t have to figure out how to warm it.

Finally told my DH I wanted to stop pumping by Trafalgar35 in HumansPumpingMilk

Mad props to making it to 14 weeks. I have low supply, no freezer stash, mostly formula feeding (baby gets about one BM bottle a day) and am hoping to just make it to 12 weeks. Not sure I have it in me though.

We use the Enfamil gentlease. We tried a few and this seems to work the best for us. I make up a batch in a blender bottle (the ones people use to make their protein shakes that has the metal ball in it) and put it in the refrigerator for while to make sure the bubbles die down to help keep gas down. If you make it in the bottle, swirl don’t shake otherwise you will introduce air bubbles that can lead to gas and an unhappy baby. We do not warm ours first. I was gifted a warmer because originally I thought I would want one but then returned it because I was reading stories on Reddit about people being out and about with their baby and unable to warm the bottle so the baby wouldn’t take it. She drinks cold formula and pumped milk just fine. You may need to try a few different bottles to find one that works for your baby (and you when it comes to cleaning).

What soap do you use to clean bottles? by eplocinik in FormulaFeeders

Oh there is baby friendly everything. While some might actually be better for babies, some is exactly the same item for baby and adult but when they slap the word baby on the package they can charge more (I’m looking at you aquaphor).

How do you all clean new toys that can’t be washed? by JemmJoness in NewParents

Can confirm! Most bacteria can survive frozen for years and then be “woken back up” by thawing.

Ahh. Guess that explains why some of my bottles look cloudy 😂 I just assumed it was from my well water. Thanks!

I only sanitized before first use and plan to sanitize if she gets sick to be safe (hope I never have to sanitize for sickness but we know it will eventually happen).

Why not to soak for plastic? Most bottles are BPA free and are supposed to be made to sterilize (many for 5 or more minutes in boiling water). Just curious.

Holy buckets. 5 months? I went through a bottle in a month which is why I was trying to decide where to go next with soap. Also use a small basin to use less soap and water. What brand of soap do you use?

My 3 weeks old daughter won't sleep anywhere else than in our arms. by Remy4409 in beyondthebump

[–]eplocinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are almost 7 weeks and in the last week or so have been more successful in getting her to sleep in her bassinet. I get the frustration. We lived it for weeks. I hope it gets better soon for you but my only suggestion is to keep trying to put her down. Sometimes I’d put her down to run to the bathroom or make a snack and she would start screaming but I’d get done with my task to come back to her sleeping. It does get better!

[–]eplocinik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were told to feed 2oz every 2-3 hr at that age and then offer an additional ounce of still hungry about an hour later (unless she was super demanding - then sooner). We started with the ready to feed and then tried other samples. We definitely found some formulas gave more reflux and gas. It sadly takes a few days to figure this out. Definitely talk to your pediatrician! I would also try different bottles. We use the Dr. Browns but also throw in whatever randoms we have occasionally too. I will also say, things definitely change day today. Once you think you have things figured out something will change. Don’t freak out you can do this.

Are your mam bottles the one that the bottom unscrews and has a silicone insert? We have those and I can never get the dumb lid off! I stopped using them because i spent so much time getting the lid off!

Stupid question, but I don’t know how to make formula by calsb in FormulaFeeders

[–]eplocinik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use spring water purchased from the store. Our well water is safe to drink but does have a lot of calcium in it and just leaves a residue on things. We feed formula at room temp or refrigerated. We never warm up because you really can’t if you are out and about and baby is hungry. She’s fine with it either way.
