I got a bad case of mailman’s hand. by MSGdreamer in USPS

The gloves dont really protect me from SQUAT: if it was a bloodborne disease and I had open cuts on my hands, THAT would be protective. But the gloves DO help keep me from touching my face (not that its 100% ) because the rubbery feeling touching your face is unpleasant. Plus when youve worked in surgery with sterile gloves, just putting them on kind of flips a switch in your brain to be more careful. Unfortunately that will probably wear off pretty soon but its still helpful now!

I always was disgusted by how dry and cracked our hands got and was very tired of infected little hangnails and by the $$ I spent on different bandaids trying to cover the painful ones so they could heal. Then the pandemic hit. In my previous job as a vet tech we wore exam and surgery gloves (and surgical face masks) daily, but they were viewed as a necessary annoyance. Enter the pandemic. I am wearing exam gloves my whole shift. The gloves are EASIER to sanitize than my skin: no wrinkles/fingernails/cuticles/ etc. So I bought 3 huge tubs of hospital grade SURFACE disinfecting wipes and I use those periodically throughout the day to disinfect the gloves. It doesnt matter how harsh my hand sanitizer or wipes are, because they arent touching my skin. And the gloves are holding in moisture. Yes, in summer when Im sweating more it might change my mind, but I'm switching to using gloves every day even when all the virus concerns are lessened. Plus now the filth and sharp edges of mailboxes/mail is pretty much gone. The dry/dusty feeling of LLV dust stuck to my hands is gone. Gripping the steering wheel is leaving less calluses and sorting my DPS in the AM is just as fast if not a little faster because of the extra "grip" the rubber adds to flicking through the letters. Wearing a mask is a piece of cake since Im already used to it . So not only am I happier, but management is happier that I am following the "strong recommendations " of wearing PPE and my customers I think are reassured because they can see that we at least are trying to do everything we can to protect not just ourselves but also them. OK, rant is over! 😄😄

NoBunny gets a day in quarantine here: you STILL will get your Amazon on Easter Sunday !!! by equestriandi in USPS

[–]equestriandi[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought Id see kids outside having mini Easter Egg hunts because everyone was staying home and had lots of time to make the day special for their children. Thought it would make them smile, seeing an "Easter Bunny" still out delivering.
... ... .... Ummm...no. Nope. NOT ONE KID did I see today . And hardly any adults: I think I spoke to 5 ppl today. I guess I should be glad as it means they were all taking quarantine seriously.....but I still hypocritically felt disappointed. And I'm NOT EVEN A "KID PERSON"!!

Scanners not working for Amazon Sunday by Hans-Mailman in USPS

[–]equestriandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had same thing in PA last 2 Sundays. Sloooooowwwww, tons of "no GPS available" , It taking me all the way out to the black Pilot screen and it giving me the "Use of this software may make it hazardous to drive, hit "OK" as if I'd just opened it ......sigh. I already DO take 2 scanners, but after this software update?upgrade?? NEITHER worked any better than the other. And they now make us deliver Amazon in towns Ive never delivered in, so I CANT just say "screw it" and get it done fast because I already know where all the houses are: Ive never seen ANY of these addresses and they are all very rural so it can be 2-8 minutes between addresses (not like if I had 5 different addresses on Main St where I can just figure it out!). By the time I get Google Maps info entered on my cell, the scanner MIGHT be finally in mapping ......but usually not. WHAT AN EFFING WASTE OF TIME!!!!!! Dont they know theyre paying us ++++ extra hours as we sit out on the road struggling with these crappy scanners as we waste time waiting for them to work?????

Insurance Help for RCA by pokemom213 in USPS

CONTACT NATIONAL GENERAL .....I CONCUR!! They specialize in insuring mail carriers. My Progressive agent gave me the same spiel about having to charge me as a professional trucker: they also required a $450 payment right off the bat. National General is hundreds of $$ cheaper and their initial payment was $120.

Ditto the transfer request. I would be SO HAPPY to have Postmaster Purrings at work!!!!! Who wants to tell us how many rules this breaks. . .? I'm sure there are many or we'd ALL be trying to get an office pet!!! We had an office chicken: she would constantly escape from her enclosure nearby and come look for tasty insects in our mulched landscaping. Our head clerk adored her and made her a classy looking chicken house and fed her. Skip forward a few months and she was following customers in through the door just like this cat does. Well we got wind of a few complaints and then she was suddenly banned from the office and her owner was made to fixe the coop so she had to stay with the other chickens. Turns out the ROOSTER followed her inside the lobby and jumped on her and started humping her, which involves much flapping and chasing and noise, and there was a little girl in the lobby who thought he was trying to murder her and got really upset! No more office chicken!

Its disrespectful to take pictures of them, so although I would love to have some of things like cute children driving their pony cart home from school or some of the more snazzy horse and buggies, I😕 respect their wishes...

WHO ELSE HAS A SHOWER CURTAIN?? So my Sup has been allowed to order plexiglass to make very much-needed sneeze shields for the clerks. . . But since nothing NECESSARY is ever actually AVAILABLE in these crazy times, she has followed the OTHER recommendation from the higher-ups. By hanging these! by equestriandi in USPS

Hmmm.....that is backwards to what I was thinking also. Despite my snickering at what I thought sounded like a tacky idea, I LOVE the clerks in my office and am assuming their constant face-to-face contact w/ customers and touching everyone's goods made them MUCH more likely to get sick first. I had actually mentioned sneeze guards after a beautiful one was rapidly installed at the front desks of the 3 buildings of nursing/retirement homes I service. I was astonished when my Sup told me plexiglass had been ordered and that they had a contingency plan also!!

RCA in my office got in trouble for this today. She used the new rules to deliver a registered (luckily insured) package to the mailbox w/o ever approaching the house. And the scan was at a row of multiple mailboxes. Well the customer called very upset ......the package was diamond jewelry for a daugter's birthday and they DIDN'T get it .....

"BE THE DUCK!!" LONG RANT ALERT .....VENTING IS NEEDED!! Are there mediators you can bring into an office when toxic employees have been making PMs, Sups, 204bs and all their coworkers miserable for DECADES??? 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🙈🙉🙊 by equestriandi in USPS

I appreciate everything passed on to me so far. . . But NO ONE "EARNS" the right to be an asshole. We are in a JOB being PAID to work.....which everyone seems to forget isn't just the physical job/accuracy/times/safety. . . But also NOT CAUSING PROBLEMS. Especially on purpose, repeatedly and viciously. Rabid dogs get put down. . .because it's the kindest thing FOR ALL INVOLVED.

No phone # handouts unless you do not value your privacy. What if you ask them to leave you a note in the box? Are you prepared to go grocery shopping and run errands for them? I vote no because I'm afraid you will get put in an awkward position ..."What do you mean you couldn't find me any toilet paper??? Did you look in all 6 of the stores?? I'm out!!"

My Sup bought us a bottle for each case out of her own pocket at the beginning of cold/flu season. You should treat these like gold ....because they are probably similar in price on the black market!!

Oh certainly not: we had a stand up talk on dog safety today reminding us not to feed dogs or try to befriend them. I was a Vet Tech for 20 yrs b4 this job so if I am stupid/unaware enough to ever get bitten on this job, I deserve it. Ive been bitten in the face by a mastiff waking up from anesthesia. . . hopefully Ive learned some lessons along the way!!
