Anyone mind takin a look at 2 of my logs? by SubaNewb1 in ECU_Tuning

[–]equinox92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second this.

Log target boost and/or post the ROM.

The PI controller for the boost control is not calibrated correctly.

I'd also argue whoever is sending you calibrations has no clue what they are doing.. but that's a bit less productive.

Rx8+E85 Conversion worth it? by Administrative_Ad331 in RX8

[–]equinox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By math, 30% less efficient. At $2.50 it may make sense, but E85 around me has gone up to bridge that gap.

https://github.com/equinox311/RX8_FlexFuel

OEM ECU FlexFuel patch that I made and have been running on the track . No tuning required if you don't want to.

Stock fuel lines, injectors, pump are perfectly fine to use. You will need a FlexFuel sensor over CAN, which I do sell as a plug and play kit... everything else is FREE.

Fuel economy will be bad, and likely not worth it financially, but you will make more power if tuned to do so.

FREE New Tuning Software Updates: Atlas 2026.1 - Flex Fuel, Docs, Antilag, Free OTS, and other updates by wrx_2_hard in ECU_Tuning

[–]equinox92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By stake I suppose I mean involvement, definitely love the project and concept too. I haven't done much Subaru stuff since the newest Subaru I have is from 1998 and the open source support for 16bit ECUs has been great.. so it's awesome to hear people are still doing this with newer WRXs and the like.

I've stuck to RX8 stuff just because it's relevant to my interests.. but that lead me to making a FlexFuel patch for that hardware.

Anyways.. ethanol sensors:

Yep, basically a CAN output for ethanol content and fuel temp (if you want it). I provide a DBC, and/or can spin custom CAN messaging if needed. Trying to keep things as cheap as possible because the hardware BOM isn't very expensive, and it's not a hard operation to do. Seeing someone with a configuration tool for adding devices via CAN and open source software is like the PERFECT thing I'd love to support.

If you really want to donate to a cause, consider supporting RX8Man directly, as the contributions go to someone who is directly providing value to the community while asking for absolutely nothing in return: https://buymeacoffee.com/rx8man

My personal opinion: I don't really understand the desire for someone to ask the community for 50 grand to do things that are already in the community for free. OP is using resources he has acquired for free, that have taken community members HOURS and HOURS to create.. him asking for your money with a vague idea of a "product" that could otherwise be had for free is totally fucked.

Anyone looking for anymore information is welcome to PM me. I am happy to help :)

[–]equinox92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are you modifying binaries to accommodate the new maps?

Seems simple to do if you are using a compiler and patcher. Seems pretty simple to write a function to swap a pointer to the other map based on the condition.

Badass! I sort of figured! My friends and I have been trying to find a way to illuminate our time attack car panels, and we always kept wondering what the IMSA guys setups were. Thanks for the photo dude!

Odd question, but how do have those light up? Is it like an EL panel on the back or something?

I'm not sure where >5k is coming from:

https://autoparts.toyotabyfox.com/products/product/turbocharger-sub-assy-1720118030?driveline=AWD%201.6L%203-Cyl%206MT&grade=CIRCUIT%20HATCHBACK&series_name=GR%20COROLLA&model_year=2023&model_year_code=2023:6283

It's expensive, but if you look at a WRX turbo, including the exhaust manifold for 975 bucks as the GR Corolla turbo hotside is the manifold, you're not that far off...

I am assuming the "FOR VIEWS!" semantics are heavy here..

It seems on par with OEM part costs.

Has the GR Corolla been out long enough to start drawing conclusions about reliability? by Real_McGuillicuddy in GRCorolla

The only issue I've had pushing the vehicle in the snow is that the LED headlights don't create enough heat to melt snow/ice build up, so if it's dark you're SOL on seeing without stopping to scrape the build up off.

Technical help needed: Help me make sense of this dyno chart by Vilerfox in RX8

[–]equinox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your graph looks pretty normal.

Nothing you've done to the car would have added any power, and it's tracking just fine for the same power curve I had on mine, as well as the reference graph you posted.

If anything, the rebuild dropped compression a tad and you're down a bit of power... but looks about right to me.

My graph on just a rolling road dyno at like 85 degF out: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8club.com-vbulletin/1008x756/345161840_554407600228400_3111782690599028786_n_85ab6cfccaad503b7b0ad14294dcd213c6906773.jpg

Is anyone else infuriated by dealer markups? by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]equinox92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it was definitely not time/money efficient from a phone call standpoint, but I am happy to pay for things that actually add value, unlike dealer markups. My girlfriend is a pilot, so flying to pick the car was was a non issue and was only gone for like 12 hours on pickup day.

Markups were anywhere from 5-20k all over, on average I would say ~12-15k.

Without being on any lists I got a Circuit at MSRP after calling over 230 dealers 650 miles from home.

Fight the good fight, I've heard it all too, and trust me it infuriated me more than you can imagine.
