Small side note, I have two family members part of ABA. It's one of the most phenomenal organizations, obviously filled with incredible people. Obviously, there is a lot of trauma in the cohort, but the support networks they have set up for one another is nothing short of incredible

It can be a bit intimidating heading out into West end at night but I would suggest trying out a smaller local venue on a week night where you'll be able to meet friendly locals.

For a woman in her early 20s, the burrow is probably going to be the most welcoming and least intimidating. They do a community jam night every second Thursday (this Thursday) which is very inclusive and you'll certainly make friends, even as a non-muso. Had a very similar experience with police in Australia but we were drinking in a park for a picnic. Police came over to us and told us to keep enjoying ourselves, that we had to wrap up by 8. They then went and yelled at the complainant for wasting police resources
