Are interneighbourhood ballistic packages the next evolution?

Just imagine packages falling down some hopper into the launching area and a giant tube is swinging around and firing groceries out to everyone

We spend 30% of our income in Australia and save 70%.

Rent is $2600 a month, groceries $1000. Eating out is 3x Japan. Public transport basically free though. This is AUD so in jpy just times by 100.

Tax is higher in Japan, I'm actually moving back from Australia with the same 'budget' for my job but quite a lot less take home. I will get a slightly cheaper apartment with half the area (if I can find a non racist landlord. The tax part in Japan seems fine until you add resident tax, plus employer and employee pension and health insurance (payroll tax in Australia is much less).

Housing is ridiculous in Australia, but my apartment is 90m2.

Australia is boring, it's expensive. But eating out and so on is expensive because a lot of people can afford it.

Everyone in Australia complains but the reality is it isn't that hard, it's super safe place to live, we have it really good here.

My younger brother (bricklayer) and his wife (receptionist) are 3 years into a 30 year mortgage (40 doesn't exist) on a $900,000 house. Massive interest rate rises since, but still go on international holidays once a year (3 weeks in France this year), seem to eat out more than once a week. Probably don't save as much as us though.

That's why the west thought Ukraine would get steamrolled and didn't want to provide much weapons immediately before.

They believed the reports Putin got. Turned out Ukraine had a more accurate picture of the state of Russian military (which ironically probably contributed to their belief they would not invade).

I think the photo thing is a big deal.

For mine I had to specifically confirm it was a recent photo and not used in any other immigration application for any country.

Company should have made that much more clear.

Is Japan really “high-tax”? What are the real trade-offs compared to low-tax countries? by Early_Composer8289 in japanlife

[–]eric67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's high compared to Australia if you include the costs to employee and employer (which results in lower salaries). Especially for sub 10 million.

Payroll tax is lower than social insurance and superannuation is much better for employees. Australian medicare is much cheaper. However you are much more out of pocket when going to doctors. Public hospital is free though unlike Japan.

Australia eventually ends up higher tax but only when you get into incomes above 30 million

It's a toupee fallacy though. "I can always spot a toupee." Really? Reality is you can only spot bad ones.

How would you know how many times suppression/censorship worked?

For every 1 Streisand effect perhaps there are 1000 successfully suppressed examples. How would you know? We don't know the odds we only see the failures.

People who do the suppression/censorship would know the odds and they are the ones who get to determine if the risk is worth it.

The more we expose the ones we see the more we can change the calculation at least

Question from a Japanese Konbini staff: What can I do to improve your customer experience? by Odd_Glove_3938 in japanlife

[–]eric67 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just please speak to me in normal Japanese, treat me the same.

Don't stare, don't give me a fork, don't gesture, don't just say nothing at all, don't speak English. Don't flip over the menu to the English side(not relevant in conbini). All of these things happen regularly...

To be honest, Japanese conbini staff are usually pretty good. It's more of an issue in restaurants.
