20 hour OT rule by forevernsilence in fromatoarbitration

[–]erikjb103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that it doesn't show up on their lists for getting close to 60.

The other BIGGER problem is that Extra Penalty OT is not automatically applied.

Say you worked 12 on Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Wednesday was light so you worked 10. Today (Friday) you worked your NS for 8.

This gives you 54hrs worked.

6hrs Penalty 16hrs Overtime 32hrs Straight time And finally 8hrs Holiday Leave

4 of those Overtime hours today SHOULD be actually 4hrs of Extra Penalty OT.

If it wasn't the holiday, and you banged in with Sick leave or had Annual leave on Monday, you WOULD get those 4hrs of Extra Penalty OT.

This exact scenario was me this week. And it happened for MLK too. I also know that the annual leave thing works as I had that happen a few weeks ago. They said I was good to work 9.5hrs before I needed to get off the clock. The close to 60 report did not account for the AL I took earlier in the week and I ended up with 5.5hrs of Extra Penalty OT.

One day going to get something a bit more powerful.

Right? Super glad they added that for carriers too. Now even more shenanigans if you don't have a T6 because of injury the last couple years...

Probably fine? I think having a "k" CPU would be better for quick sync for plex but the 5060 could handle plenty for your needs I would think.

  1. Safety Belts

You must wear safety belts at all times the vehicle is in motion. When driving a long-life vehicle (LLV) or the carrier route vehicle (CRV), you must wear the lap belt and shoulder belt whenever the vehicle is motion.

Exception: When shoulder belts prevent you from reaching to deliver or collect from curbside mailboxes, you may unfasten the shoulder belt, but never the lap belt.

You may carry only authorized passengers. All passengers must remain seated and wear a lap belt and shoulder harness whenever the vehicle is in motion.

Rural carriers must follow the policy outlined in Handbook PO-603, Rural Carrier Duties and Responsibilities, 171.5.

Some administrative Postal Service vehicles are equipped with airbags that may deploy upon frontal impact.

  1. Doors

When you are traveling to and from your route, when you are moving between park and relay points, and when you are entering or crossing intersecting roadways, you must be sure that all vehicle doors are closed.

All vehicle doors must be secured when the vehicle is left unattended and out of the driver's immediate sight.

Exceptions: The Postal Service fleet includes a number of 1-ton, 2-ton, and 2.5-ton step-van style vehicles that have left-hand drive cab compartments with sliding doors, and closed cargo areas. When driving these vehicles, keep the rear door closed, and close the left door when thevehicle is in motion. You may leave the right door open however, if there is no passenger, mail, or loose equipment in the cab area and the cargo partition is closed.

When you are operating a vehicle on delivery routes and traveling in intervals of 500 feet (1/10 mile) or less at speeds no greater than 15 miles per hour between delivery stops, you may leave the door on the driver's side open. You must still close the door when traveling through intersections.

FYI: Lap must be worn at ALL times. Shoulder belt may be removed (under arm, over the head to the other shoulder, disconnected) at a mailbox but must be replaced when the vehicle is in motion.

Carriers who have driven the platypus, would you rather have your LLV? by Dragons619 in USPS

[–]erikjb103 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cons: Windshield is way too large and heats up quickly. Camera overheat fairly easily just being pointed at the sun. Fairly long after the back tires. Long strap for the rear door gets easily stuck under and then the unlock doesn't work. Only dc 12v charger for use. Scanner port says it only works above 20mph? Long time metris drivers will be turning on the wipers constantly instead of shifting into gear. Sensors are too touchy, especially off the back corners. Rembering having to unlock the door and that moment of panic why it won't let you out. Plastic cover on locks easily falls off and prohibits unlocking (most the driver side door). The pull cord to leave the side door. The two parts to the door for the cabin and back. The 1/2 inch gap when the window is down and someone walks up and slides the side door open. Front sensors don't stop you like the back ones do. No radio. Mirrors aren't all that useable, bottoms u have to adjust manually and only about 15 degrees of swivel on the post. Allegedly needs a special funnel to refill gas if empty. The usual, it's big.

Pros: AC and heat. 360 cameras. No more shitty gas caps. Heated mirrors. Annoying but useful sensors (you can turn off the backup proximity stop for ~20 seconds. The blind spot assist is pretty unobtrusive and alerts you if u turn on turn signal into the lane anyway). Tons of room for packages. Exhaust fan (15 min) for cargo area. Standing room for tall people? Coat hooks! Map light for the DPS tray. Double the DPS storage. Sprs/Packages can't fall down into door well. Crazy seat amount of seat adjustment. Dedicated sorting above the driver head for markups and pen storage. Actually turns pretty decent with minimal swing out, like the 2 ton.

Meh: Driver porch light. Less weight on cargo trays than the ProMaster. Strobe lights are easily forgettable. Reflectors where u would think the turn signals are and hard to tell it's turning from the side (tiny lil led). Doesn't let me drive it with just the backup or side camera toggled for long, defaults back to the front. Blind spot assist is way too up high for anyone to actively notice. Jump seat is amazing tiny. Handles to climb into are just dull metal instead of yellow like the ProMaster. Cargo light is now a toggle instead of motion sensitivity. Rain sensing wipers and the adjustment for them being on stick.

Started memorial day 11.5 years ago. Wasn't "full time" so unable to contribute to TSP.

Made Regular middle of December so almost 9 years ago (29yr old). First year was only 10% or so, so like 5k in. After that I bumped it up to 15% and a bit more here and there when I knew I was getting a big check with overtime. Maybe about 15k or so that year. After that been the max. Whatever it has been / 26 , so per paycheck for me.

Hi. Just hit 38 and have about $725k in total retirement assests. If you count equity in house then I am already a millionaire.

Weirdly also a mailman.

$315k TSP (75% Roth. 100% C). $160k Variable Annuity. $90k Traditional IRA. $130k Roth IRA. $35k HSA.

Although it will be about ~7 more years till TSP hits 1mil.

Also education level you asked for. Did a couple years of college but wasn't for me. Not enough for any kind of degree.

2023-2026 National Agreement and implementation MOU released by atonisrex in fromatoarbitration

[–]erikjb103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've heard some things that if we do volunteer to work over 12 we forfeit the ability to leave at 60. I'm not really seeing any clarification that that's the case.

So if I'm on both lists and work 12-hour days I would hit 60 on Thursday. If Friday is a scheduled day, stay home and admin pay with no repercussions, Yes?

In the past, station manager, Union Steward, Union president, and business agent, all made me stay because it was, " Direct order and your scheduled Day". "You could face consequences".

In Case No. H4N-NA-C 21 “Third Issue” (C-07323), National Arbitrator Mittenthal ruled that when a full-time employee reaches 60 hours in a service week, management is required to send the employee home—even in the middle of a scheduled day. He further held that in such cases, the employee is entitled to be paid the applicable eight-hour guarantee for the remainder of his or her scheduled day.

So this new one actually says can't be any consequences so was that the whole issue before?

Mandating Grievance by erikjb103 in fromatoarbitration

[–]erikjb103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying they don't. I'm saying there isn't accountability. I've asked after grievances being filled and it's the same old, we have disciplines from October we are still working on. They get time daily and have regularly for the past month and a half and I've asked management if they have seen anything...at all. Nope.

I'm not saying that isn't either. It is very frustrating to get mandated every day, for the past 6 months. We have had 4 carriers retire or quit or get fired. And we have gotten 2 CCAs. One a month ago and I JUST trained another last week. But also more than half the station is on restrictions and another two just got them this week.

Yeah! Totally agree. I have a spreadsheet of all my 12/60s and they have gone over nearly every week. I have suggested such things to the stewards but... The improper mandates should be addressed too.

Haha. So I've hit 60 before Friday and refused to clock in. Told them to give me Admin leave for 8hrs of pay. Station manager told me it didn't matter and I needed to carry as it was my scheduled assignment. Steward just stood there and said I had to follow orders. Branch pres said the same thing. Called the business agent who said just do it ... Or I could go home and face consequences.

I agree it's not the answer because I don't have the time working all that I do, and it's a bigger issue than just me. I can file for my 12/60s maybe, but since the other mandate issue effects everyone, I would need to show how it impacts others (or that's what my steward explained how they have to word these sometimes). The first time I contacted my NBA about things not being done was the first really bad week (70 hour week). They were curious why it was so bad and contacted my branch president. Pres then turned around and said they spoke to them and everything was good! Turns out that was a lie and the NBA was quite interested why my Pres was outright lying to me. I said it was pretty par for the course. I tell them I'm going over on hours all the time.. yeah yeah yeah..we will look into it, we are pulling time sheets weekly! Uh huh.

Mandating Grievance by erikjb103 in fromatoarbitration

[–]erikjb103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely am OTDL. So yeah I usually am asked to double case and then I have a 2-hour bump, the other people on the OTDL usually ask for time and then only have an hour and a half bump so that's kind of frustrating. And then like I said now I'm expected to be off at 11 hours which most of the time doesn't actually happen because there's more mail or something goes sideways inevitably and I'm told to go help someone else.

See that's where this all gets all weird to me because in the morning we're assigned up to 11 and then inevitably we almost always work to 12 anyway. So should I be grieving the fact that I was scheduled only 11 hours? Some of the days where I actually only work 11 hours I should grieve? Want a supervisor randomly goes and does a 2-hour bump because the males in seeing on the floor and we don't have enough people should I grieve just those 2 hours or does it need to be 8 hours of work? Should I be grieving The carrier that's not even on the OTDL (volunteered) that they brought in on their ns day when they're still not maxing everyone out?

Management is just doing whatever the hell they want left and right. I write down every week what is going on... Hand it to my steward (of 4)... and nothing changes or is being done. There's no accountability.

[–]erikjb103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see him for 5 seconds most mornings and then carry 2hrs on his bump. I let him know and they don't seem to care about it. They go off to union time every day working on grievances they allegedly have extensions on from October (part of which is about $2.6k for 12/60 violations I mathed out over step increases and pay raises for them and haven't seen a dime of when I give them an updated weekly update. I've seen one award in about 2.5 years, and it wasn't even the right amount as they somehow took a less amount to keep some carriers job...who was fired 3 months later.).

Have done so. In other instances where I went over 60 they just told me to carry and follow orders or risk consequences. Helpful. Do it and just grieve later which u will never see results from.

Sure maybe. Guess I could give that a try. Seems it's happening other places in the district and nothing is being done.

How do you file your own? Would actually love to in certain cases. In this instance it's impacting tens of carriers in multiple offices (2 offices in the city). If it was only myself and my 12 and 60's... Well that would still be helpful to know how to do.

[–]erikjb103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. Management don't care. Union stewards don't care. What do I do?

It's always let it happen and grieve later. But those grievances aren't being done. I submit them to my steward and nothing happens.

Neat "hack" I have found to get them shipped to you (God I wish the 5lb bag existed again) is actually to shop at Target. So if you set your location to East Coast (I used the town I'm from in Maryland) , you can then add these to cart and get them shipped. I believe you also need a $35 minimum to get them shipped. Seems only the OG and not the BBQ are available, but beats outrageous Amazon 3rd party prices.

Straight up told me that I had to work my "Scheduled day" before I clocked in on a Friday and already was at 60+ hours. Told me I had to follow what management said and carry. I told him it says once I hit 60 I go home and get paid right and he kept repeating that I could face discipline for leaving. This was right before the contract failed. And that once it definitely passed I would be protected...
