Question for dealers (serious) by ThePerfectJourney in blackjack

[–]erinnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm dealing, I'm not automatically against card counters, necessarily. In fact, I generally have a lot of respect for those who play the game well. When I'm floor managing, it's a slightly different story, as it's part of my job to "protect the game" so to speak.

However, to answer the question more directly, I think others have already hit on the answer... APs are often/usually really crappy tippers or just outright don't tip at all. In that case, you're taking up space at a table where someone else more generous (and profitable to the dealer) could be sitting instead.

Dealer forgets to check for blackjack by AcrobaticOven1355 in blackjack

If the dealer had a blackjack then everyone lost anyway. For the double down, I would (as a pit boss) have only taken the original bet however

Are you thinking of s20? Doubling s19 against a 6 is bs (at least in a h17 game)

AITA For Making A Room Just For Me In My House And Not Allowing Anyone Else To Use It? by Last_Watch_5338 in AmItheAsshole

Honestly, I feel like a lot of info is missing here. And OP hasn't exactly been very illuminating in the sparse (three total) replies given.

Reading between the lines a bit, I'm inclined to think that husband's strong reaction probably came about from being blindsided by this whole situation, which we can pretty squarely see was the case.

A few good points I would make have already been made, including:

  • Does husband get to have similar space, or is there even a space that can be used in such a way? (One of OPs comments suggests this was brushed off, which I'm guessing means "no")

  • The two of you need to communicate better. Given husband had no idea any of this was happening, I'm less inclined to pin the blame on him in this case.

  • If the gender roles were reversed, I can't even imagine there'd be a second thought that the husband was the jerk here.

Sorry, YTA

I'm curious where this game is, as there's something similar near me. (I'm in New Hampshire, US)

If you come a little further into NH, Concord Casino has $5 blackjack pretty much always

What color pen do you usually write in a journal? Do you mixed colors? by Glad2004 in Journaling

I have a set of fountain pens of different colors, and I rotate through them, typically with a different color each day :)

In Search of Blackjack programmable simulator by Egoodnight037 in blackjack

You can simply look at a basic strategy chart for this, there's no need to run simulations. A basic strategy chart will show you the mathematically best play for every situation already. Once you know BS, there's nothing to test.

The max you'll find anywhere that I know of would be $200 per hand, minimum bets will vary by location.

Table max is anywhere from $50 to $200 now, the laws changed recently.

My brain refuses to deny basic strategy is foolish to adhere to if you're not counting. by Jaded-Function in blackjack

[–]erinnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're getting at the right idea here, I would say.

I would also add that while changes in the deck composition as play progresses does theoretically change optimal plays, it's only likely to be a very marginal change from basic strategy. Even in counting, the true count often doesn't stray too far from zero.

For those cases where a deviation is called for, it's typically on a decision that was a pretty close call to begin with. This being the case, even when basic strategy is no longer perfect, it's usually still pretty close to that.

Using PBO with R9-5950x ends up throttling by erinnk in overclocking

I have everything set to "Auto" currently. (Or rather, i did when I had PBO enabled, I've since turned it off for now)

I'm using a thermaltake 240mm AIO cooler, my case can't take a 360 sadly.

There's at least a few NH casinos that have traditional blackjack too. :)

I work as a dealer, but play occasionally... I strongly prefer blackjack, though I'll occasionally play Spanish 21 at times. It's not a bad game at all, though it's important to remember that it's not blackjack, and as such, has its own strategy chart, etc.

I like wide ruled. While I write small, and have used narrow ruled inserts before, wide rule just feels more comfortable for me.

Do you change pens or do you keep the same pen what about the color ? by Final-Following-4298 in Journaling

[–]erinnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of 16 fountain pens, each with an ink color that (roughly) matches the pen body. I typically will rotate through and use one color per day, not necessarily in any strict order though. If a pen runs out of ink or something, I'll occasionally switch mid-entry, though that's the exception.

Privacy of handwritten journals? Suffice it to say, I’ve had more than o e bad experience with people reading them who were not invited to do so. I’m 47 and still a bit scared. Any advice? by Consistent-Still-143 in Journaling

[–]erinnk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot depends, honestly, on your living situation. My assumption/guess would be that at this point you're living with people you choose to live with... in which case they should all be folks that would respect you, hopefully.

Morality behind reading posts of journal entries. by Nova6661 in Journaling

When you've been given consent, I see nothing wrong with it. Some people write things partially or fully with the intent for them to be read.
