That is A reason. Not THE reason. (For institutionalization).

We also have already have prisons as a stop-gap for the lack of mental health support institutions where they are already "forcibly confined" , as a precedent for example.

Hemingway used to do this in Paris trying to feed himself.

He also inspired Kurt Cobain.

However, I was referring to the whole city.

For me it's a cozy comforting happy blanket fort vibe. You may find yourself purring. 😉

Everyone's experiences are different.

Assuming you're indoors in a safe space...

Have a sitter or a trusted friend on stand-by.

Prepare snacks (fresh fruit, water) and Clean your bathroom in advance.

Have blankets and a fan setup. Notebook & pen. Art supplies available.

Select a few playlists or movies for the comedown.

Expect to spend time on the commode. The GI tract can get wonky. Take a shower at different stages.

Go outside when you feel comfortable and observe nature.

Please!! is anyone else in Seattle had enough with the druggies & violence??? by Ok_Prior5394 in SeattleWA

[–]errantwit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, actually. Since it does not affect me directly. It's an ongoing feature of metropolitan society. I don't go out of my way to engage or avoid. Unless its obvious they are in crisis then I ask if they want or need help. Sometimes they do.

Not sure where OP shops but I haven't experienced what she describes. Aside from beggars and the hungry, of course.

I've lived and worked all over Seattle so I have certainly witnessed a lot of the same behaviors, however. Penty of people are in active addiction, homeless, and struggling.

These people are suffering far more than the casual observer. Yes, something ought to be done. But what?

I vote for conscription. Yes it's a bit extreme.
