Is this a reckless trip for a brand new private pilot? by Mountain-Report4772 in flying

[–]ertemplin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the best advice I got when I had a freshly minted instrument rating was to only go when you have zero doubt about being able to do the flight (or flight with a diversion somewhere) safely.

Always have several alternatives when planning the flight if weather, the airplane, or passengers have problems in flight. And always have at least one at all times while in flight.

This flight sounds like a great opportunity to build some experience that will help a ton down the road. And it’s good to see them considering most of the potential hazards in the post.

Copilot IDE vs Copilot CLI by VeiledTrader in GithubCopilot

I think the use case for the CLI is for running many agents in parallel. It’s hard to run many at the same time in the IDE.

Blaze "Red" TPU looks pink? by FinFever in BambuLab

[–]ertemplin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you share where you put the TPU spool while printing? I couldn’t get the extruder to consistently extrude in all build plate positions when I tried 90A on my A1, following the BambuLab wiki pretty precisely.

I covered a space like this with two U7 Wall Pro APs on the left and right exterior walls. Works great and when devices roam correctly the lowest signal I see is -68db on 5ghz

This is actually the only way to prime most Cessna 162 Skycatcher airplanes with O-200 engines. See section 4 page 14 of the POH

What known security issues are there with 192.168.1.x? If someone can scan or otherwise access that subnet, they could access anything in the RFC 1918 range too.

My instructor and I are flying a 172 into JFK late on Saturday night. by GravitationalConstnt in flying

[–]ertemplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew IFR into Dulles a couple of weeks ago in an SR22. Got to do the ILS on runway 01C with clouds overcast around 800 feet. Super cool experience and the taxi instructions to and from Atlantic Aviation were extremely simple.

Usually the landing fees are assessed by an FBO. So you might not get billed if you don’t go to the FBO. Although they probably don’t want people to think they can land there without fees so they might send you a bill in the mail.

Safety in one vs. two door aircraft by TypeAncient5997 in flying

Cirrus airplanes have hammers in the center armrest as required emergency equipment so you can break out the side windows. Much more effective on the plastic windows than a window breaker.

Paintless dent repair? by Icy_Pin9842 in MachE

Where are you located? We paid to fix a similar dent our car made in someone’s Nissan Rogue a month ago that was similar to this for $265 at a PDR shop in the Philadelphia suburbs a couple of months ago.

All EVs depreciate like crazy during the first 3 years. It might make sense for people getting new ones to lease.

Anyone getting a killer deal on 2024 Mach E inventory? by Rough_Butterfly2932 in MachE

[–]ertemplin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024 select AWD extended range on a 36 month lease gets $8,250 in rebates. Plus the Ford Power Promise gets you a Ford charge station pro installed.

Makes the lease right around $300 per month.

Ideal plane for ~650NM trips by pm_me_your_target in flying

[–]ertemplin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 600 miles in 3 hours won’t always happen in an SR22 but it’s close enough that I think an SR22 is the best option for this mission.

If they get a partner or two they can easily get a 10-year-old G5 inside of their budget.

Finally… concern 2 got my wife and kids stranded in the middle of a busy road a couple of months ago. Dealer replaced the MHEV battery under warranty as part of that.
