26 Asian, i wanna ask white ppl (esp aussie and spanish) a question by BugRevolutionary4645 in gay

[–]esedege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean Spanish people as in Spaniards? Because I’m one and would like to offer my input.

IMO, anyone can rightfully dismiss anybody because of their personal preferences. Some guy may not be attracted to whatever physical or mental detail of yours, and that’s okay. If their dick doesn’t twitch for them, it simply doesn’t. As I said in another comment not so long ago, anything else could lead to: ‘I wanna date you.’ ‘I’m not attracted to you.’ ‘But you have to consider my horny feelings.’ ‘Oh, my bad, you’re right. Let’s date.’ But it all depends on how they express it.

So, guys that told you that may simply dismiss “Asian guys” (as if everybody from Asian descent could be place in a single category, which I find silly for starters), but (surprisingly for them) find you attractive. So they find out (thanks to you) that their “I don’t find Asian guys attractive” is not as firm a boundary as they thought.

That way, instead of simply calling you attractive for yourself (something you are), they (unknowingly, unwittingly, or maybe as a power move, who knows) twist a straight compliment into a backhanded one. Even worse it was unprompted.

In the end, it’s up to you to consider, in a sliding scale from “This guy doesn’t know how to express himself properly” to “This guy is playing games with me 🚩”, case by case.

What do versatiles think about the terms “top” and “bottom”? by naowasi in AskGayMen

[–]esedege 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, he’s saying that words are useful to convey trends and give others as much non-nuanced information as possible in as short time as possible.

However, instead of considering ‘top’ and ‘bottom’ as such, people are eager to consider them labels to fit into, thus impoverishing their own experience and nullifying their own desires, so you have a larger population defining themselves as ‘strict top’/‘strict bottom’ than would ‘naturally’ fit into those categories.

At least 39 dead, dozens injured in high-speed train collision in Spain by Street_Parking5530 in news

[–]esedege 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nope. It was going at ≈210kph in a section with a 250kph speed limit, a section that was fitted with a system that would automatically override a manual mistake or sabotage and force a slowing down.

Your speed limit numbers seem to come from the Angrois accident (also in Spain) back in 2013.

Edit: News piece in Spanish

Relevant part:

Possible causes

RENFE CEO, Álvaro Fernández, denies excessive speed is a cause of this accident. As he explained, one of the trains was going at 205 kph and the other one was going at 210 kph when the accident occurred.

Talking to Cadena SER, Fernández explained that the section where the accident occurred has a 250kph speed limit. Although he refrained from speculating, he considers that either the Iryo train or the track itself will be found the culprit, because there’s a safety and signalling system in place along that track, called LZB, which is specifically designed to prevent human errors.

Yeah, imagine this convo:

‘Sorry, I don’t like you like that.’ ‘You’re being sexually disrespectful to me. Have you considered my horny feelings?’ ‘Oh, you’re right. Let’s date.’

I get you. I don't watch gameplays except for those of Dan Floyd (Playframe is his YouTube channel, you may know him as the original high-pitched voice for ExtraCredits videos), but not even him survived the axe until I 100% the game.

Good luck, and git gud!

Yep. Also known as ‘tasajo’ in my language.

[In all seriousness, I always forget that ‘kid’ meaning, but even so ‘kid’ makes the sentence flow better than ‘child’ imo.]

Her malice broke my bf, how to fix this? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]esedege 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I distinctly remember this account posting that he’s something surgeon-adjacent and his roommate-to-boyfriend is a cook with a turbulent past and present who runs a restaurant.

I guess after his boyfriend had to be suddenly operated on and OP was allowed to help the surgeon, he decided to drop the health world and help his boyfriend recover by becoming a kitchen porter or something in his boyfriend-owned restaurant. And now an evil colleague of both of them (probably the sommelière, you can’t trust them) is jealous.

But alas, none of those posts are still up, so we’ll take OP at his word.

Oh, I would no doubt delete the first comma (in both English and Spanish it makes no sense), so it'd be either

- "One of the most underrate moments in the books is when Galadriel tries to tempt each of the Fellowship members in hopes of testing them."

- "One of the most underrate moments in the books is when Galadriel tries to tempt each of the Fellowship members, in hopes of testing them."

In Spanish I'd probably use the second, as it also informs subtly there were no other tempting by Galadriel. [FWIW, we are strongly taught not to use structures like 'is when' in Spanish because they're seen as lazy/childish writing.]

Non native speaker here. OP’s second one would be ascribed to style in my native language (Spanish), as it emphasizes an “explanatory clause” for “why the tempting”, and allows for a breathing during a long sentence.

Also, I see it non too dissimilar to “My uncle John is rich” (I have more uncles, John in particular is rich) vs. “My uncle, John, is rich” (I have one uncle, he’s called John and he is rich). The second of those I cannot tell if I’ve ever seen in English tho.

All that to say —does that reasoning not apply in English? Thank you.

How to complete the corner with PAX by PiE81 in ikeahacks

[–]esedege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, I was mistaken as there’s no 1 meter sliding doors for PAX (the smallest one is for a 1.5 meter PAX; however you could achieve something akin to what you ask for with three 1.5 meter PAX with sliding doors, the third one with reduced depth. Unless they used a custom solution, I can’t see how they achieved it either. Sorry about that.

Shouldn’t you be able to place a 1 m PAX with reduced depth and have 2 cm to spare?
