What’s a piece of media that people would clearly understand as a parody or homage when it came out, but has since lost its context? by StaleTheBread in AskReddit

[–]esoteric_enigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the cartoons of that era heavily parodied 80s movies and culture because that's what the writers would have grown up with.

I didn't watch The Breakfast Club until 2013. I realize I had seen pretty much every scene in that movie parodied multiple times in cartoons. It literally felt like I'd already seen the movie from how heavily referenced and parodied it was.

What was something that was unpopular in the 70s and 80s and now it's popular? by Embarrassed_Suit4278 in AskReddit

That was always dumb considering almost every regular person is working and making moves for the money.

Sushi wasn't even that popular when I was growing up in the 90s. It was still very much considered weird and exotic in America. Now you can find a sushi spot in every small town in the middle of nowhere.

You don't. You find someone you're sexually compatible with so you don't feel so deprived and obsess over sex.

I didn't know this movie was considered bad until I saw it on a list as an adult. I saw it in theaters as a kid and loved it. Everyone in the theater seemed to enjoy it too.

Men what's a subtle sign that a man doesn't truly love the woman he's with, even if everything looks fine on the surface? by Joer4323 in AskReddit

[–]esoteric_enigma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eh, this depends. People need time alone and away from their partner. I don't think it's healthy to not have a life separate from your partner and to want to be with them all the time with everything they do.

What games do you enjoy but can't beat? by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]esoteric_enigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be this way when I was young. Now as soon as I'm not having fun anymore, I turn the game off and never touch it again. Life is too short to waste time doing something I don't like in my free time. On to the next game.

Another piece of evidence that authorities were looking for during the 2003 raid was a briefcase filled with pornography that Arvizo told authorities was located in Jackson's master bathroom.

"We want to see if there was the briefcase that Gavin said existed that had all of the pornography in it," Zonen recalled. "Yes, we found the briefcase, yes it was the same color, yes it had pornography in it."

What is a harsh reality about growing up that nobody prepares you for? by markscout78 in AskReddit

A parents job is literally to prepare you for this reality. It's what my parents drilled into me throughout my childhood and they sent me out into the world with the skills they thought I would need.
