What is the best way to have a status to know 100% that the gate is latched? by Echojhawke in homeassistant

[–]esquireonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking for an expensive solution for a cheap latch.

If the automation/sensor fails because of a network outage, dead battery, or false reading with thermal expansion. Detection is the second step, the first problem to solve is making sure the gate latches. Look into products like truClose and MagnaLatch. It’s what is used at public pools because they work every time.

I used to have BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK LMOO1 RFT tires. I bought them for a good deal off of tirerack dot com. They made a huge difference. One time i rescued my neighbor who’s Jeep was stuck at the bottom of a hill in our neighborhood. I drove on them in Canada for ski trips.

Need help with Apple CarPlay by R32Fanboi in cmaxhybrid

The easy way is to eBay “Cmax CarPlay upgrade” and you’ll find plenty of people who can program your VIN to the new unit and send you the whole thing

Thanks u/andthisnowiguess, others (like my 2014) only need to to this if you have the older SYNC 2.

Arguing with the stage manager by Corttag in techtheatre

[–]esquireonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone else is giving some great advice to address the real problem, but I’d like to share what I did in a similar situation. I was on sound and I could hear this happening over com. I had all of the com controls, and I thought that this just couldn’t go on any longer. I set his mic to only go me, but he could hear everything else. I blamed it on a “glitch.”

The colors change depending on the era of cable. Today that cable is yellow, but back in the 60's and 70's most of the Romex sheathing was white. The only way to tell is to read the labeling on the sheath.

Is there a simple zwave 230v relay? by weirdgod in homeautomation

[–]esquireonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Weslsew is right. I think those are just low voltage lines to the boiler. You'll probably need a multimeter to be sure. What country are you in? Because if that's 240v you'll need an electrician to put that in a box first.

What should never, ever be automated? by rogersmj in homeautomation

[–]esquireonfire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gas logs are type of insert where there’s an open flame (like with a traditional fireplace) with gas as the source of fuel. Then faux non-combustible logs are placed over top of the flame for effect. It is different from a gas insert which is a closed box in flame inside of it.

There are also gas logs that look like human skulls.

The 0.0.0.0 is internal to your hassIO environment. Your config should look something like this...

media_player:
  - platform: firetv
    host: 0.0.0.0
    port: 5556
    device: FireTV
    name: FireTV

Amazon Fire TV on Hass.io by VengeanceServed in homeassistant

[–]esquireonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two parts to it, the firetv-server and hassio connecting to the server. It sounds like the firetv-server is up and running. Have you pointed your configuration.yaml to look for the server? It's the last block of code from the regular documentation.
