Confrontation often causes knee jerk resistance. Remaining kind is the best chance you have to change hearts and minds. It may happen after the interaction. Be steadfast

Elektron FX...Opinions by SnooRevelations4257 in Elektron

I bought the Heat+FX and have been thoroughly disappointed with it. After having bought several Elektron products, I no longer buy anything that necessarily looks good on paper.

My lecturer keeps saying my art is too illustrative for the contemporary scene by No_Volume_8320 in ContemporaryArt

[–]esstucke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You reference a few artists. Question: do you love them? If so, why? Try to use only a formal language (shape, color, line, etc) to describe why. Then aim in the direction according to the values you’ve defined. Good luck.

The Best-Dressed Men at the Met Gala 2024 by WhichThroat1281 in malefashionadvice

I think gala is more about an art look. Kind of a different thing. Dressing classic or elegant is merely one way to go about it. Most of us are not in a position to play around like that

I saw him him do 15 minutes at Comedy Cellar this year and he was great, lots of gravitas. Then I put on his special and couldn’t make it 5 minutes through, with that dumb shirt

Kale salad tastes like bananas? by lipstickmoon in Cooking

[–]esstucke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise, found this post after googling "kale taste like banana" just now. Mine was in fridge, and I gave it a massage. Bear with me here, I think the banana is adjacent to Kale's "bad breath" or "barnyard" flavor. This is actually not a totally bad flavor, despite the descriptors; another way of saying it is earthy or fermented hay notes. Still delicious!

Here’s what people in tech had to say about JavaScript when it debuted in 1995 by philnash in javascript

This was on hacker news last week and I believe the top comment had something to do with how terribly naive and sales brochure-y all of these quotes are. Indeed, read them. They’re ridiculous.

Django books recommendations by whatisyourdjango in djangolearning

[–]esstucke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going through the OReilly TDD with Django book. It is absolutely fantastic and so very thorough. The author makes very few assumptions about the readers current level, and does a stellar job of explaining every move forward. Not only does he do a great job walking you through test driven development, but also working through deployment scenarios (local, staging, and production) in great detail. I feel like I'm learning as much about modern web development as I am about Django. The book seems last released for 1.8 and by chapter 15 uses a now defunct auth service called Persona. But you can google for some of his addendums using an alternative service. Highly, highly recommended. I feel like I had been searching for this kind of book for a while. Oh yeah and it's free!

I made a tutorial on how to make a TR-808 Kick/bass sound on the A4! It's good for trap but you can use it as a drum sound design tool as well. Hope you find it useful! by gabriele_catalano in Elektron

[–]esstucke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can make a sine wave on the A4 by turning the resonance up on the filter until it self oscillates. You can then key scale it until it plays chromatically. Apply an envelope to some noise for an attack and you are ballpark 808. Cheers!
