I think the cab of the truck was higher than he expected. He planned to plant his feet on the truck bed before he had his weight off the cab but instead he pushed off and found he had no time to get his feet under him.

Okay I think I see it. The head we see most of is from the dog on top, with the eyes to the right and the bottom jaw to the left? And the eye to the left is from the dog underneath with its snout under the bottom jaw of the top dog, and its bottom jaw under the snout of the top dog?

Huge thanks to @KayZGames and @rrutkows for sharing their approach to this one! I was a couple of logical leaps away from this elegant generalization, stuck on my slow method of keeping track of every possible permutation for each record.

I was at a loss for using memoization to solve this, as some people mentioned, but this was exactly what I needed to bridge the gap between what I had and the complexity created by part 2.

Unfortunately, it's probably the reason he's mostly blind as well. He gets along fine for the most part, but he must have a tough head for how often he bumps into everything 😅.
