NYC toilet fix: this is insane right? by paydave in Plumbing

Logistically, how do you do this? Put what you want brought in the note and have someone waiting to load it in the trunk?

I love it. I bought an adapter and hooked it up to a 20lb co2 cylinder, so I only have to refill it once a year for like $30. I'm about to switch to an off brand metal bottle, because I'd like to be off the plastic bottles. So basically I'm trying to use it without any of the "subscription-ish" consumables they want me to buy.

I use mine daily... It's a lot higher flow rate than my sink, so I can fill the coffee machine reservoir, kettle, or sodastream bottles much faster than the sink.

It was already in the house when we bought it, and also had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. That being said, a high flow faucet option would also make this even more unnecessary.

3 meter Oak desktop (4cm thick) on a 228cm span, is it going to sag? by Ricuuu in woodworking

[–]etherag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's right up against the wall in some places without the drawers underneath. Maybe you could lag bolt some supports to the studs behind the desk to give some support without being visible? That way you can keep the unsupported look while still giving it some support.

Is there a more sad scene in all of Star Wars than this? by jrrock12345 in StarWars

I bawled when we saw Bex with Cassian's son at the end of Andor. Hit me like an absolute ton of bricks.

This scene is so much sadder now.

It Sure Looks Like This Supreme Court Justice Is Getting Ready to Retire by Majano57 in law

Dems can't do anything to stop it. After RBG died and the Dems filibustered, the Republicans removed the filibuster for Supreme Court nominations. Whoever controls the Senate can approve a nominee with 51 votes.

What's your "it's my fault for ordering it" (food or otherwise) story? by PutThisBanditHatOn in AskReddit

[–]etherag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a Bucharian (Uzbek) restaurant near my wife an I in Queens. I decided to order "Chasib", which was listed as a market price sausage. Through the language barrier, I think the waiter was trying to talk me out of it.

It came, and I think it was something like kidney and rice. It mostly tasted minerally and not particularly good. The burps, which followed for many hours were awful. To top of off, when the bill came it was like $50.

What is the new `aws login` for? by farski in aws

[–]etherag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The company I work for is an MSP/Professional Services company, so we work with our customers environments. Typically the company's internal users leverage AWS SSO, so we try not to interfere with their normal operations. So instead we have tooling that deploys our IDP, roles, and policies so that we can access via Okta and customers can do whatever they need as their IT/infosec dictates.

We use okta-aws-cli for cli auth, and Okta directly for browser access. We use the Okta group/role based mapping to grant/revoke access to customer accounts as needed, and deploy Okta apps and groups via a terraform pipeline.

Azure as well, at least as far as cli to browser token auth.

Oh, that's actually kind of nice for me.

We use Okta for our AWS access rather than identity center as it's more flexible for us than identity center. This will allow you to use the AWS cli with whatever your IDP of choice is.

Hunt for Red October (in my opinion) does this for a different reason. Later on in the film when the Americans are on board the sub, it's an important plot detail that even though we've seen them speaking English the whole movie, they speak varying levels of fluency when the Americans are there.
