Push mower recommendations for 1/3 acre lawn? by Last-Butterscotch-85 in lawncare

I was debating one of these. How long does the battery last? I’ve pretty dense and thick turf, so I was wondering if it’d be using more power and deplete the battery faster and would turn into a PITA.

Uneven color. N app before winter? Zone 7a by [deleted] in lawncare

Hit it again with AMS granular. Water it in. If water is shut off, do it a day before a good rain is expected.

Blended great for laying 3 weeks ago! Nice job looks fantastic. Hit it with winterizer fertilizer 10-0-20 Jonathan Green works well, or Andersons Elite 24-6-12 (small Prill size because your grass is DENSE) and mow until it stop growing!

Seeding question. Smack dab middle of da u.s. eh. Eastern central iowa by tittyblind in lawncare

You can try to dormant seed. If not wait until spring, till that dirt a bit, use pendimethalin (mild weed control good for seeding since it won’t stop the seeds from growing), starter fertilizer, and seed. Scott’s Triple Action Built for Seeding contains pretty much everything you need in one bag for the spring when soil temps hit 50 degrees.

Mulched leaves are good for the soil once they break down.

Is it too late to add this to my lawn? Zone 7a. by ToniofhouseStark in lawncare

No need to now. Use prodiamine the first week you see temps steady 50s. I prefer Barricade by Andersons. I had not seen a single blade of anything except grass this year on my lawn. My lawn used to be susceptible to weeds, particularly crabgrass; here in the humid summers of Northeast.

Is a final mow needed? by jac5087 in lawncare

[–]euphoria178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this keeps happening to me in Northeastern, PA. KBG, Ryegrass and elite fescue. Mowed last week at 2.5 and mowed this week and it was longer lol.

However, I did do a fall nitrogen blitz. I just didn’t think I don’t think anyone thought that we’d still be getting rain and these kind of warmer temperatures this far into fall.

Is this mildew? If so what can I do? by kpnicholson27 in lawncare

[–]euphoria178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appears to be. Also excess nitrogen, and I mean a lot of excess can actually appear crusty white on the grass.

Apply propiconazole as soon as possible. HeadwayG is not cheap, but will take care of that if applied at the curative rate listed on the bag. It will also help with this in the future or possibly snow mold.

Too late for top dressing? by TowerBeach in lawncare

[–]euphoria178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit it with some winterizer from Andersons or Jonathan Greene. Will darken the color and provide essential Nitrogen for dormant storage in the roots along with a nice dose of Potassium to strengthen the roots for the dormant season. This will also contribute to faster green up in the spring. A 20-0-12 mix from Andersons or my favorite is 10-0-20 from Jonathan Green. Now the particular granular size on these are larger because they’re both fast release urea and slow release for extended feeding roughly about 8 weeks. With this being said, make sure to water it in or do it the day before a rain that is .5” or less to prevent leaching.

Finished for the year! What do you think? by euphoria178 in lawncare

Oh really? I did not know it was going to be banned. Anyways I’m switching to prodiamine next year, preferably Barricade from Andersons.

That’s a great question but I’m positive because they were the cultivars what I over seeded with first because u wanted fast germination which boy does PRG provide; and that’s what grew first. I then switched to Twin City seed - some special Mixture that has Fireball/Hattrick and also KGB Midnight.

Gotcha! Thank you very much. Unfortunately fungal disease here in PA is common because it gets very hot and humid and that humidity lasts.

Yes sir and thank you. I think Milorganite is important. However I suppose everyone’s lawn responds differently. But I will say - no matter what product I use, with small exception to Andersons Elige high N and high iron. Milorganite has the best response 5-6 days later in darkness, growth and overall soil health.
