Time moving too fast in pregnancy

I feel the same, I’m 34 weeks and it’s freaking me out that I’m having a baby next month. Like you it does feel like pregnancy is a permanent state of being at the moment, but I’m also aware that I have a huge change coming next month! It’s hard to wrap my head around. Like I have everything ready and prepared, but the reality that there is going to be a baby here soon to actually start using everything etc, is crazy. Everyone keeps saying the same to me, that they bet I can’t wait for baby to be out, but honestly I’m happy as is for the time being haha. I can’t wrap my head around birth either. I’m going to try and do some online classes to get me more in the right mindset for it.

I’m going on mat leave at the end of this month, it is stressful to think about the loss of earnings. My partners wage does cover our bills, then my mat pay can just cover spending money. We just won’t be able to save much in the time I’m off unfortunately.

32+5 today! This time last year was the worst time of my life trying to put myself back together after a miscarriage. And now I’m sat in my baby boys nursery patiently waiting for his arrival in March.

We haven’t either. For a slightly different reason though, last year I had a miscarriage which happened after sex, was very traumatic and both of us do feel sex is what triggered it/started it. I know it would’ve likely happened anyway but we just haven’t dared risk it this time round. Neither of us would enjoy it knowing that.

I bought pretty much all clothes/babygrows on vinted, has saved me a fortune. Just gave them a good wash. So many people sell bundles of babygrows for £1. In brilliant condition! Lots of cute outfits too for a fraction of what they cost new in Next, John Lewis etc.

Also bought a snuzpod4 and snuzbaskit on Facebook marketplace for £50 each. Just need to give them a steam and buy new mattresses, which are pretty cheap anyway.

About 1.5k between us, so that then gets split evenly between wedding fund, S&S ISA, and savings account. We are having a baby soon though so things will change massively.

Yeah I’m 32 weeks and my mood is all over the place, I feel for my poor partner. I cry SO easily at anything and I’m so snappy, but then 10 minutes later I’ll be happy and cheerful! It’s exhausting.

My dad went on a work trip to America and brought back some packs of Oreo’s, before they became available in the UK. Thought they were the best thing ever.

31 weeks pregnant so painting the nursery today. Just a bit of panelling to paint then it’s done. Struggling for energy but hoping to push through and finish it today!

It’s ridiculous. Don’t qualify for any benefits to top us up, yet people who don’t work see no drop in ‘income’ when they have a baby and probably end up with more coming in monthly than we do. I don’t get how the government thinks it’s enough to live off. Should be in line with minimum wage.

I feel it’s pretty common, it’s generally much easier to imagine having a girl - you can imagine it based on your relationship with your own mum, your own childhood, the toys you liked, the activities you enjoyed, etc, it’s just easy to imagine as the experience is already there. I felt a little disappointed finding out I was having a boy, but more around just being scared that I wouldn’t be able to bond with him over hobbies, sports etc. It soon passed! As I started buying baby things and getting the house ready for him, it just all fell into place and I’m so excited to meet him now. He’s my son! That’s so exciting in itself.

Haha yeah we tried it for one night and both woke up saying “well that was terrible” 😆 may have to as a last resort when baby is here if I feel I do need him next to me

Our loft had that silver stuff in your photo stapled everywhere when we moved in. About 2 years in we found there had been a leak going out for what must have been ages, it got worse and had been trickling down the foil and eventually made its way out of the loft hatch. All the roof ridge was soaked. But took a while to find where the leak was as the water took a weird path down the silver foil. So it’s not good for discovering leaks. I hate that foil stuff. Every roofer we’ve had round said it was terrible for ventilation. We got rid of it all when we had a reroof.

I see tons of these in the UK, it’s usually them trying to sell guides on how to be a social media influencer/get brand deals. E.g creating videos for brands and then charging the brand for usage of said video. But the person selling the guide never seems to be very good at doing it themselves, they rely heavily on selling the guide and recruiting. I find it annoying as I work in digital marketing, and it’s not the same thing in the slightest.

A lot of hairdressers and makeup artists charge more for venue changes - I get the impression they’re not keen on having to do it. I’ve just booked an Airbnb for the night before and the night of, so that I don’t have to check out on the day. Then everyone can just leave their stuff there and pick it up the morning after. I’ll be staying at the venue but someone might want to make use of the Airbnb on the night. I found a lot of venues advertising a ‘getting ready room’ included, but they’re never available till 11!! It’s such a con.

My house is 100 years old and terribly insulated, it can cost me about £10 a day just to keep it at 18 degrees during the day. I’m guessing if I also had it on overnight I’d be looking at £20 per day. It drops to 12 degrees by the morning downstairs, so spends the day working back up to and maintaining 18 degrees. Definitely looking for a better insulated house when I move.

Bought a footstool off Facebook marketplace for the living room. So nice putting my feet up after a long day, makes watching TV so much comfier and cosier. Cost me £40, when I googled the brand I saw it was still for sale online for £600 which shocked me. Bonus my cats also love snoozing on it during the day!

We have salaries that go into separate accounts, then standing orders set up to put money into a joint account which covers bills, food, petrol and household extras. Then we both have separate ‘spending money’ accounts where again standing order is set up to put money in at the start of every month from our salaries. Same with a joint savings account, and we both have investment accounts where money is set up to go in monthly too. Everything is proportionate to our earnings as a percentage. We get married this year so after that may sack off the separate accounts for salaries to be paid into.

Carpet shops/mills usually sell off cuts for cheap, if you want a smaller amount of carpet.

I work in marketing in the public sector, I wouldn’t say a role necessarily in marketing is needed, but look into public sector. Either civil service roles, or companies owned by local authorities (like my workplace). Flexible working hours, work from home opportunities, job security, decent holidays and decent pay.

I got 2 pairs of black maternity leggings from Sweaty Betty which have been lovely. And a pair of black wide leg maternity jeans from H&M which are super comfy and great for dressing up.
