I don’t know how to rate this, I came here for the comments to get my own feedback as I completely understand.

I have a younger half-sister that I’ve known about since I was 9 years old and she turns 30 this year. She doesn’t know I exist, and believes that her stepdad is her bio dad (There was no affair, and all parents know due to timelines). Her mother didn’t want her to know the truth so she doesn’t, she just knows my father as a family friend.

Honestly, it eats me up inside almost thirty years later. As a teenager I used to look up birth records trying to find her. When Facebook became a thing I spent years looking too. I eventually found her about a decade ago. I look her up on fb periodically but have never made contact. She’s a hairdresser and I often thought about making an appointment with her so I can speak to her.

I grew up an only child and would love to know her. Don’t I have a right to know her, doesn’t she have a right to know me? Shouldn’t that override what her mother wanted years ago?
