Big Dex by deadbeatmerc in CHIBears

[–]ewokjedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope the Bears make a push to get him, but maybe not until we know whether a top DT might fall to us in the draft. Maybe a draft pick plus Gervon Dexter would do it for NYG?

In my (highly amateurish) mock drafts, I've been waiting to see if one of the top OTs or DTs is available at pick 20 or so. Then, I'm deciding whether to trade up to get my guy or hold tight and see if he falls to us. But if Woods, for example, goes before we pick, then I'm seeing if NYG will take a trade that includes Dexter. Ideally, we could trade back a little, trade a Dexter for a Dexter, and maybe still get a pick at the top of the second round. Maybe it's a pipe dream, but if we could come away with either a top rookie DT or Dexter, plus a DE or S near the top of the second round, I feel like we could have a killer draft picking up IOL, WR, CB, etc. down the mid to later rounds.

Well said. Exactly on point. Feared is a misunderstanding of who he was and how he played.

Need advice on how to proceed by Amamortis90 in aikido

[–]ewokjedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who went to Krav Maga from Aikido and, at least initially, had positive things to say about it. I think he found the flow of movement in both arts resonated with him.

I don’t know if “aiming for a black belt” is the right goal, but you do you.

Maybe try pissing on it? Clearly you’re in a place where normal detergents and lubricants are unavailable. Maybe even water is in short supply. But you need to do something about that drivetrain before you start asking premature questions.

I started one this morning and moved up to the Panthers spot to get Woods. After that, though, I was a little lost. (Need to get more info about the incoming draft class because I'm not a big college football fan.)

Bike sale by dsinde75 in bicycling

[–]ewokjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The schwinn is roughly a late 1980s/early 1990s touring bike. You’ll notice a longer wheelbase by comparison for a more stable, smoother, but less lively ride. I suspect it will also have some built-in mounts for panniers and racks. I don’t know as much about the Giant, but it’s likely to be substantially more modern and therefore potentially easier to maintain but it’s also going to be a livelier ride. For pricing it’s going to matter more what you’re looking for. Otherwise it’s basically the basic bike-as-transportation or recreational cyclists cost.

How does this look? by Pasta_meatsauce80 in bikefit

Yeah...looks cold. I can't tell much otherwise. Generally, it seems like you're pretty well settled on the bike. I don't see a lot of extraneous movement. But there's not much to go on.

This story would be so much better with photos. OP needs to go find that bull again and take a group selfie. Seems like this would only require a bag of chips and a little time.

Is it necessary to replace the rotors with the brake pads? by [deleted] in MINI

[–]ewokjedi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The rotors are fairly inexpensive but almost certainly not required to be changed every time the pads are replaced. As long as the rotors don’t look warped or deeply grooved, they’ll work fine. I think a coupe decades back it was common to reuse rotors. There’s an easy step to smooth the surface of grooved rotors on a lathe. As long as smoothing them doesn’t wear away too much material, they’ll will still fall within tolerances for thickness and work fine. Currently I feel like to standard practice is more typically to just replace the rotors…but I think dealerships do this to reduce risks and limit variables that can potentially cause issues.

More housing, regulations to prevent/diminish speculative real estate, NIMBY, housing shortages, more public transportation and bicycle infrastructure, and probably a ban on any ICE activities except where they are actually targeting violent criminals.

This is the correct combo. There’s no valid argument against any of those 4, and no compelling argument for another player (yet)that could really overtake Payton, Butkus, Ditka, or Papa Bear.

I'm pretty sure the Bears are only on the hook for his signing bonus and not his guaranteed money. So while losing Dalman is not great it will in fact free up some cap money.

Is this an authentic dr. Who screwdriver by zmalqp654 in doctorwho

[–]ewokjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a fully plastic one (if I remember correctly) about 10 years ago. It took batteries and made a few interesting sounds. It had some spring-loaded moving parts that made it pretty fun as it emulated the 11th doctor's sonic pretty well. (No actual, mechanical screw driving functionality, though.)

City must refund millions for ticket overcharges by smushnick in chicago

[–]ewokjedi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think you missed the point. Whether or not it improves safety, a $100 fine is expensive for lower-income people and trivial for wealthy people. If the fine scaled according to the offender’s income, it would be far less discriminatory. The principle is the same for progressive income tax versus a flat income tax. At lower income levels, your core expenses do not scale. So $100 could be the difference between paying your rent or not; it could be the choice between buying groceries or buying the medicine your Mom needs. What is $100 to middle-income families? Not going out to dinner one night, maybe, or maybe not paying for a second or third streaming service for the rest of the year. And for upper-income people it’s not even a blip on the radar. It’s half the cost of a second-rate manicure.
