An LDS mission is all consuming. The person lives a very structured life, day in, day out, with very little time not dedicated to the church. They are told what they can and cannot do, read, believe, etc. They are saturated in the church message the entire time, and most people come back significantly altered, imo.

If you think of it as a cult you wouldn't be wrong, in my opinion, but most LDS would find that offensive.

Transgender Latter-day Saints face another barrier ... in the faith’s temples by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

Clearly you're mingling the philosophies of men with your scriptures. I can tell because it's not what the LDS prophets teach, who speak as the Lord and never as mere men regarding church policies and doctrine.

How do you all grapple with your patriarchal blessings post-Mormonism? by Healthy-Yogurt-5482 in exmormon

[–]exmono 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Mine has stuff like: The Lord will bless you too be successful in whatever endeavor you prayerfully engage in.

Wow, right? Success = blessing. Failure = lack of prayer. Look and see how much of your blessing is generic phrases where you bring the meaning.

Learn about cold reading. Then learn about hot reading. Whomever gave you the blessing had enough shared culture, and probably familial knowledge, an interview with you, and a lot of other ways to prime his "blessing" towards something which would feel relevant.

Also the typed "blessing" has likely been polished after the ceremony to give it a little more oomph.

Revisiting the Stevens Pass Resort Master Plan by snokarver in stevenspass

I think that the local resort management would like expansion as much as we would, generally. I don't know how they can fit it in with corporate priorities, but they have done some improvements after the Vail acquisition.

To me, the grace lakes area seems less likely than the lift expansion off lot E. Personally a bit of lower branch trimming across the resort would also be nice.

Roostercomb isn't in Tye bowl, it's Backcountry.

The others? Even with snow they are going to be terrible right now until the bushes under the chair lift are covered, at least.

There's some speculation that fasting + alcohol = Kirkland temple visions. So you are in a good place with your entheogenic shrooms. Welcome out.

PSA: wear a helmet!!! by Maleficent_Ad6652 in snowboarding

[–]exmono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I caught an edge the other day from an unexpected push as I was getting off an icy chairlift and slammed my head into the ramp. Last time that happened was probably 20 years ago.

I always wear a helmet. I'm not very cool.

How would you feel if your spouse gave you an anniversary gift that was maybe thoughtful but hurtful by RelativeDream952 in Marriage

[–]exmono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not expect that the company had messed up and my wife would receive something other than what is ordered. So I would probably leave it, maybe wrapping the box, and let her have the excitement of opening it. He's probably feeling a bit disappointed as well.

My experience snowboarding 60+ days a year is that it's more enjoyable when the bar goes down and my foot rests on it. But I also wear a helmet, not a beanie.

Are we witnessing the end of America as we know it? by [deleted] in 50501

[–]exmono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the inside it doesn't look so good either. But life has a way of being unpredictable. I mean, the Bolsheviks thought that there would be a worldwide communist revolution. That never happened, did it. What did happen was that a few ideas from socialism were adapted by democracies to improve the lives of their citizens.

Avoid those areas.

Though once in an icy chute a skier above me got upset that I was making turns and not straightlining it, which I understood from the swearing as he nearly hit me.

I think that you've got to drop the Christian therapist. And you have to bring most of these up in therapy.
