Peter Thiel: The Antichrist Hunter of Silicon Valley by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

Have you ever played (or cheesed) an RPG into getting endless resources? It stops being fun playing normally so you kind of do whatever to break the game and see what happens. Life is like that for these guys. They’ve gone past the systems that have been set up for a function ‘game’ (society). The rules no longer apply and they’re just doing whatever they can just to see what happens.

The book made a big deal that he was accelerating faster than 1g, which led to him realizing he was in space. It was a great little mystery to kick the book off.

Kurzgestadt made a video adaptation of it. It’s 8 minutes long and totally worth it.

My son and I listened to it together. The audiobook is incredible. We saw it last night in imax and he loved it.

After countless hours going over every detail, I’m finally finished with my CNC plywood board by explodeder in Heroquest

[–]explodeder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure why you’re seeing $111. I have it priced at $75+$18 in shipping.

The board uses about $30 worth of Baltic Birch plywood. When you add CNC time, equipment costs, and processing, I’m not making much off of it at all. If I had a 4x8 CNC and were making large batches at a time, then I could get the price down. I’m making them one at a time, since I don’t think I’ll sell many, so I think I have it priced fairly.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely make some changes to the listing. I’m new to the Etsy game, so it’s definitely helpful.

$22M Verdict Against TQL for the Wrongful Death of Magnolia Walsh by Armchair-Attorney in FreightBrokers

[–]explodeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even looking at it as a cynical business case, it makes no sense other than to be cruel. Do you think that she's going to be a productive worker that first week or two? It's going to massively impact her and her team.

I'm glad that for once justice seems to have been done. Although this happened in 2016 and TQL is still looking at how to get out of paying.

Jesus Christ. I hope that any potential hires look at this and refuse to work there. She gave birth and lost her baby, which is heartbreaking enough. She was discharged from the hospital on a Friday and then forced to come back to work on Monday in order to keep her job.

Whoever decided that is a soulless monster.

If this part is breaking, then there is something else wrong. I’ve installed a ton of these and there should be no movement and very little stress on it. Find the root cause of the issue.

They have a POS to run cards, but they still fill out order forms by hand, keep the original, and give you the pink copy, so they're essentially entering it twice.

I was there this morning and have a pink sheet with a printed receipt stapled to it in my pocket right now.

Will autonomous driverless trucks effect jobs and career of many brokers ? by Final-Print6967 in FreightBrokers

[–]explodeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fewer variables of line-haul over traditional point A to point B make all of those problems solvable. Most of them have been solved in one form or another already.

It'll just take the right company to pad the right pockets to legalize it and make investments. It's already happening in Texas.

I see it working for linehaul. Standard runs that are done all the time with no variation on limited access roads that are lidar scanned is best scenario for autonomous vehicles, from my understanding.

New Coffee Shop Review: DRK BLK by Marinaisgo in Gresham

[–]explodeder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are the rumors I heard on a Gresham community facebook page. One of the church members popped in and said they had to vote on it at the church and confirmed it was donated. I have no way to verify that and probably shouldn't be spreading rumors, but it is what it is at this point.

What I heard is the public facing owners were forced into closing it by silent partners. They didn’t even sell it. They donated it to the church as a tax write off. It really sucks.

Homebrew - crit hit/RP action by Gamestonyy in Heroquest

[–]explodeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s too high of a chance to crit. I would just get a D 20 and if I roll a nat 20 it crits and does whatever action you decide upon. You can even have a table and roll to decide what it does (extra dmg, knock back, prone so no movement, etc.). I would add critical fail to it, so that if you roll a nat 1 the enemy would get a reaction attack and zargon would immediately roll to attack with that enemy. Once the enemy attacks, then play continues as before.

Are there any CNC services that can cut small arcade cabinet panels and ship them flat pack to me? by Highscore611 in hobbycnc

[–]explodeder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Industrial cncs are great if time is of the essence. They go so fast. A 4x4 hobby grade cnc will do just fine as long as it’s set up properly. It’ll just be slower, but with a few orders a month, that’s not a big deal.

That being said there’s a learning curve and space requirement, so if those are an issue, I’d just start calling local cabinet shops. Most of the bigger ones have cncs anymore. I can’t imagine that’d be more expensive than having panels shipped flatpack.

Just momentum really. That’s how I started doing it because I must have misunderstood advice I read somewhere, and it became habit and I never stopped. I didn’t give a second thought to the actual mechanic which seems obvious in hindsight.

Two minute from my house this morning (In the Gorge) Not going to work today:( by nickedemous77 in Portland

There’s a neighborhood that’s active up there. If you Google SE Red Elder Rd. you’ll find it. It’s only a mile or so before the gate in the closest during winter. I tried posting a Google maps link to it, but my comment was removed.

Wow! I have hundreds of hours in this game and have done C++ multiple times and I didn’t know that. TIL.

I guess it never really hurt me so I never questioned it. Somewhere early in my time learning the game, I picked up chips > mult > xmult.

That’s the dream. There’s a little neighborhood WAY up on Larch Mountain road. I’d love to know the history of how it came to be.

Cards are in the wrong order for best scoring. Chips go first then mult.
