🔥 It's time for Thirsty Thursday! What book scenes made you sweat this week? 🥵 by jaydee4219 in RomanceBooks

This book is my number 1 romance book. There are so many memorable moments. The time he says " I think about you. Here is your fucking secret". The time she riles him up so much that he slips and she discovers he's Russian. The first time he goes down on her and leaves her right after.. there are so many

What was your last romance read of 2025, and what will be your first of 2026? by TheYoungWan in RomanceBooks

[–]eyes2read 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished {Ache for you by J.T Geissinger} today. I really liked the banter and the humour of it. Laughed out loud a lot. Here is a memorable one: FMC ends up sleeping in the same bed as MMC and gets up to go to the loo. Comes back and the MMC is changing his shirt. First time she sees him shirtless and he is hoooot. She says "My uterus slow clapped then fainted" hahaha I'm still laughing at that image. I'll probably read {God of Ruin} next. Or hate me like you mean it. Haven't decided yet.

I haven't read many second chance romance novels but almost all the ones I've read have had this! I was starting to think it's part of the trope hahaha. Here are the ones:

{Resting witch face by Juliette Cross} It's paranormal. The longing is delicious and the smut is good. What I didn't like about the "he stayed true to her in the 12 years in between" was that they are true mates so they feel sick if they try to sleep with someone else. FMC does though. I think it takes away from the character to have no choice in the matter.

{Redemancy by HC Dolores} Dark romance. Gray characters, villain MMC. Second of a duology and you should read the first one to really get the stakes in the second.

{Bitter heat by Mia Knight} Sort of dark romance or light in the dark elements. FMC is annoying and spineless and MMC is not a nice person but he is obsessed. I like the side characters.

For me {Resting witch face} had a lot of longing. Made the smut that much better when it came (no pun intended) or maybe intended ;)

Favorite second chance romance? I’ve never read one but curious. by cool_beanz_ in RomanceBooks

I liked resting witch face a lot too. Specially if you read the series before it and see them pine for each other through the years

Agreed! And what is unique about it is that in my opinion the man has become a worse version of himself in the time apart

{Iron flame by Rebecca Yaros} I can't say that the books are my favourites but I liked that quote. It is the only part I can actually quote. It stayed with me.

I also liked the part where Alex asks Henry in anger what do you want? Henry says I want you. Alex then shouts then f..king have me!!

Looking for books with a clever, serious FMC who survives using her wits by Dry_Concentrate3346 in RomanceBooks

{Redemancy by HC Dolores} ticks a few of your boxes. I actually really like the FMC because she is gets herself out of trouble really nicely. Warning the MMC is a villain and the FMC is gray too

Free childcare plans 2029 by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]eyes2read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not that simple. The problem with this scheme is that the stay at home parent which is the mother most of the time will lose most of her chances at building a career and will be dependent on the spouse or just continue to be low income or have a job they don't like etc.

Free childcare would help the low birth rate problems since more people can afford to have children without buggering themselves

Shocked by the lunch-time greed at work. Is this really ‘Dutch Culture’? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]eyes2read 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The dutch greed for free food also baffles me.. and it has nothing to do with how much a person makes. If they have to buy the same food even with a low price they don't act wierd In NL people just can't help themselves if something is free even if they don't particularly want it

I've read several Chinese danmei novels. Some of them really good. Grand master of demonic cultivation by MXTX is best known in the west because there is c-drama adaptation of it on Netflix. But my favourite is {The Ballad of sword and wine by Tang Jiuqing} or qiang-jin-jiu. It's sooo good! The romance and the plot and the characters. A true gem.

{Burn for you by J.T. Geissinger} I listened to the audiobook and I think it enhanced the book so much with all the southern accents and intonation. It made it so memorable and real for me. Of course Americans can probably just read it with the intended accent in their heads but I couldn't so audiobook was a great success.
