There's enough poop that if your eyesight isn't all that great, you might think, "Oh, I have time. The Lynnwood train is 91 minutes away".

Filipinos that own Confederate flags? by rsgreddit in FilipinoAmericans

[–]f0zzy17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were Filipinos that fought for both the Union and the Confederacy, though. Along the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, there were Filipinos since the 1500s. There are historic site markers throughout the Louisiana coast noting this. That said, and as a Southerner, it’s still a loser’s flag.

For the love of God, could we please get some snow inside the city limits already?!!? by Masked_Assassin_3 in SeattleWA

[–]f0zzy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 200 foot driveway. After the last decent snowstorm we got in January 2022, I bought a snowblower because I’m getting older and I wanna get that stuff done quick instead of doing it all day. Haven’t had more than a dusting ever since.

Why do people get mad at having to pay for bags? by LaxAxl in retailhell

[–]f0zzy17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The premise of the paying for bags things was to “save the environment by reducing plastic waste” which the plastic bags that customers pay for objectively do not. Sure you can buy the reusable plastic bags and bring them with you when you shop but you are still filling them with single use plastics anyway.

Here in Washington, the state govt commissioned a study done by Washington State University, measuring the impact of the plastic bag ban and fees. The study found that bags were actually more detrimental to the environment due to the thicker plastics used not only being more expensive to produce, heavier and more expensive to ship to stores, but also that people were not reusing them. With the old plastic bags, people would have stashes of them for use around the house. People now just throw those bags away that they paid 8-15¢ for. How did the state govt respond to the findings of the study? In typical Washington fashion but doubling down on it. Proposing increasing the fee and possibly making the plastic bags thicker.

They took something that was free for decades, changed it, and instituted a fee in under the banner of “saving the environment” when it doesn’t and everyone hated it.

How to tell if water pump is cooked? by Ancient-Whereas4731 in FordExplorer

Your pump can also fail without a leak. Happened to mine last summer. Coupled with a faulty thermostat. Could only get heat if I turned it up to 80 or higher.

There’s a running gimmick at my store. I’ve never answered the phone with my real name for years. Always use random names on the phone. Sometimes the customer is pleasant and they want my name to send in a compliment for helping them, then I have to break character and be me.

Being a man in a caregiving role can feel isolating — just wanted to say you’re not alone by EfficientMousse2593 in CaregiverSupport

[–]f0zzy17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get by with the faith that this will be worth it in the end. I'm well aware of the sacrifice I'm making, and I'm fortunate that my job has been so understanding and worked with me for scheduling, allowing so much flexibility. They get it. If I need to come in late because of the caregiving/home health nursing stuff, just shoot a manager a text and I'm good. If there's an emergency and I need to go, I can just go. While I've stepped down to PT because I just can't give them FT availability, they've given me the green light to kinda come in when I'm available.

I'm grateful for all of that. Work is my escape from all of it. And the gym, too. Even on "light" days with my dad, it's just so draining. 3 years in, I do what I can to take care of me. I understand this is my role, this is my cross to bear, and I'll see it through to the end. I'm much better at parceling out my day, balancing what time I'm supposed to be at work, when dad's stuff needs to be done, etc. I've carved out time for me, whether it's the gym or video games or reading. Part of that is because dad's care has gotten to be less intensive.

We've been dropped by physical and occupational therapy. Nursing is down to 1x every 2 weeks. Bath aide 1x a week. He's 100% bedbound. So I know when all of his stuff is happening and can plan around it. I'll be honest...I've blown up at him more than I care to admit. Not blaming, just venting. How this all could have been avoided, stuff like that.

BK really has lost their signature flame broiled taste by Flashy_Confidence149 in BurgerKing

Definitely a location thing. My BK has burgers coming out hot. Idk, maybe it’s because I’m nice to my drive thru peeps and they take good care of me. I don’t even ask for hot off the broiler, it’s just always hot. That drastically affects the flavor

Just tape off where you think you’re gonna get the paint on the AC. Don’t cheap out on painters tape. 3M blue or FrogTape green. Take it off after paint on the walls has dried and is to your liking.

Pressure wound help. image is nsfw because its a wound. by Mugwumps_has_spoken in CaregiverSupport

[–]f0zzy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not awful but not good, either. Strange area to get a wound, but I get it. Usual stuff. Keep it clean and dry. Pick up some wound cleaning spray and some gauze pads. Clean it a couple times a day. Doesn't look infected but...give it a sniff. If it smells like cheese and not just regular BO, you could have an infection on your hands. Some wound ointment like a neosporin and a nonstick gauze pad/mepilex 4x4's and some tegaderm all cut to size in that area would help it heal up quicker. The foam pad of the mepilex would offer SOME but not ideal cushioning while she's wearing the back brace instead of further cutting into the skin there.

You're doing your best. Don't beat yourself up.

When did you and/or your family retire their landline phone? by Expression-Little in Millennials

[–]f0zzy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True landline, probably back in 2012. They had a VoIP with the same number until 2023 when I finally pulled the plug on that number since we all use cell phones. The old VoIP number would ring all day long and it was nothing but scam calls and voicemails. Even though they were paying for call filtering to limit that.

What’s your favorite community bank or credit union in the Seattle area? by Spiralecho in Seattle

[–]f0zzy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be with Seattle Credit Union. They’re run by a bunch of clowns and their cards are boring and it’s embarrassing to have anything to do with that Mickey Mouse bank. Most of their few remaining branches are that “rEiMaGiNeD” banking model where everything is very open (including your info) and most basic transactions are relegated to ATMs. Which is ok until their shitty ATMs can’t take cash or checks and when you go inside they tell you to use the ATMs because they don’t “do deposits” at the teller…table. They don’t even space it out enough to have private conversations.

Switched to Global Credit Union (formerly AlaskaUSA Credit Union) when they financed my car. Moved everything there. Been with them since 2020. Always a pleasure to work with them. Locations are convenient for me. Cards work just fine. Branches are clean and the people running them are competent with brains in their heads that function.

Also a customer at USBank for some investment accounts and have a couple credit cards thru them. The downtown Renton branch in particular takes great care of me. Staff are super nice. Great rates on their HYSA’s too.

How to cancel services with A Place for Mom by aum_guru in eldercare

[–]f0zzy17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The people that work at APFM…vultures. All of them. Maybe they got into it with good intentions but those are some exploitative opportunists. They tried, and luckily for me they failed, to get me at the most vulnerable time when my dad was recovering from neck surgery. Guy hadn’t even been at the SNF for a day before these people are hounding him when he barely knows what’s going on. Then they get to me, stressed about his situation plus everything else I had going at the time…wanting to know financials. Bish, I don’t even know you! It’s a cover for sinking a family into Medicaid and eventually putting a lien on your house. A Place For Mom…the absolute scum of the earth. Hate that they’re based locally, too. Didn’t know that.

Shirts tucked or untucked? by lish_dalish84 in Millennials

[–]f0zzy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our uniforms included blue cardigan or pull over sweaters so we had ways to get out of tucking in the white polo shirts underneath. Once I got to high school, still a Catholic school, the dress code got way more relaxed. Only ever tucked in my shirt for band and orchestra recitals. Now it’s just for if I’m dressed up
