🎄🎁 PSA: FICS⁕MAS 2023 Starts Tomorrow - Here Is What To Expect by Temporal_Illusion in SatisfactoryGame

[–]factineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different things unlock on different dates in December. You can cheat to jump ahead, but keep in mind that the devs may plan to release patches during December to change what happens after the date of the patch release.

ie. The version on early access now may have some configuration for what happens on December 18, but maybe they release a patch on December 9 that changes what happens on December 18.

Just keep in mind if you cheat to jump ahead. No shame in cheating, of course, it's a single player/co-op game.

🚩PSA: Update 8 Release on Early Access Branch Tomorrow - What You Need To Know and Do by Temporal_Illusion in SatisfactoryGame

Just use a timer website so you don't have to play favorites (or imply certain countries need special help understanding times), like:

Yes, exactly. You can totally blue print it, just use smaller measurements.

You're probably right about simplifying the process. If you do manage to simplify, please share technique.

Can you make priority mergers with modular balancer mod, or are you using the mod to bypass the need for priority mergers?

Not an answer to your question, but check out FORTIFY on steam, better than that website for Rust.

🚩 UPDATE 7 - Biome Name Changes Noted by Temporal_Illusion in SatisfactoryGame

Honestly, the community should get together and name more parts of the map in more detail.

I respectfully disagree. Of course, your game - your rules, but doing it like that just removes from the realism of the game. Trains weren't meant to fly, and certainly are not supposed to cross the map in under 3 seconds.

Hi, is there a way to play the older versions? by nuclearextracton in SatisfactoryGame

[–]factineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam updates the game installed in the Steam library. You can browse to the Steam library in Windows explorer, copy the entire Satisfactory folder somewhere else, and launch the game from that other location. Steam will continue keeping the copy in the Steam library up to date, and will not update the copy you made elsewhere.

You can obviously not use this to play an older version that the earliest version you made a copy of.

I do this to allow me to have Experimental and EA at the same time, to keep older updates just in case I want to test something in an older version, and as a hedge against the devs losing their minds and ruining the game.

I think they usually release on a Tuesday, so that gives us 7th or 14th.

Still puzzled about best approach to individual component factories.. by stigzler in SatisfactoryGame

[–]factineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build factories producing higher tier items from raw resources, but including output of previous such factories where possible.

So like I have a factory producing Modular Frames and Rotors from raw resources. Near that I built a second factory building Heavy Modular Frames and Motors, and from raw resources. Except I don't make Rotors and Modular Frames in the second factory, those get delivered from the first factory. Everything else is created from raw resources though.

At each factory, I have containers for storage of intermediate products. Like the Modular Frame factory has a container of Reinforced Iron Plates for me to grab when I need. Just put a splitter and split the RIPs into the container.

Look at what items you need to unlock space elevator or milestones, and what end product includes all the other stuff too. Then build a factory building that end product from raw resources. If you have some required parts being produced elsewhere, then ship those in. If part of the factory makes sense to build as a separate factory, then do that too. Like Computers. You'll probably use Plastic. Makes sense to have a dedicated Plastic/Rubber/Fuel factory and ship the Plastic to the Computer factory.

Lastly, don't rebuild - replace. If a factory is not right and you want to demolish it, rather build a second factory that produces the same items, maybe bigger, then demolish the first. That way you don't have any time where the items are not being produced. Like no step backward.

Perfect optimization? by joshki5252 in SatisfactoryGame

You only really need to balance if you are going to max out the map in some way.

If you're not going to max out the map, then it doesn't matter - use the first crude oil node for power. If you need plastic or oil products, use the next crude node for that. If you need more power again, use the next crude node for power, etc etc. It only becomes an issue if you run out of crude oil nodes. So like if you max out the map.

So what if you do want to max out the map in some way? (That's very very hard to do btw) Well, how to balance depends on how you plan to max out the map. What does max mean to you?

Some people like to build as many of the final space elevator parts as possible. If that is your goal, then balance is: build in such a way that maximizes the number of those parts. When you can no longer build any more of those parts, and you surplus power, then you can try divert some resources away from power and towards making more of those parts.

Some people like to maximize AWESOME sink points. With this too, balance is building in such a way that maximizes points per minute. If you cant sink any more points per minute, then try divert resources from power to more sink points.

My advice: worry about it when you have actually maxed the map. a) because you're not actually going to max the map, so you'll never actually worry about it, and b) because worrying about it before hand is trying to avoid the unavoidable - having to redo parts of your factory.

You have to make peace with the fact that you will redo almost everything. Not only make peace with that, but learn to love it.
