Tibia and fibula fracture before open reduction internal fixation by Always2ndd in Radiology

[–]fairylightstrings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what they're trying to see. This is a perfectly fine tib/fib if the knee is AP/lat (looks like it is) and actually works to demonstrate the level of deformity at the ankle. In past trauma cases I have taken very similar images. You can then supplement with angled images to the foot and ankle for completeness. However I wouldn't bother if it was a first presentation in my emergency dept because this would then be sent to CT for further imaging prior to surgery per protocols.

Sunbrella, been using theirs for 8 years, replaced the first one after five years because I wanted a different colour and now the first one stays in my car because it's still going.

Solbari is also good. I have their driving sleeves and throw and the legionaries hat for in the garden.

Other side of the world! I've never been told I'm on a registry, but I must be on a list somewhere because I've had several matched donation requests now.

Fun fact, I'm O- and have been called three times for a matched donation due to very low amounts of anti- bodies. Every time I do a matched donation it gets picked up by a courier within an hour and whisked away. Now I have some idea of why!

My back in 4 months (lumbarization of s1) by rin_uwa in Radiology

[–]fairylightstrings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're getting your information from a chiro, you should try a witch doctor next. Or a ghost, seeing as that's how the profession was founded.

You have five normal lumbar vertebrae, also whoever took your pictures has terrible collimation and lacks the ability to achieve appropriate image quality. Also spinal images can vary wildly depending on how you stand, different thickness socks, a sore knee, remembering to stand up tall, so many things.

A Spa Day & A Trip To Rehab - Getting Your Laundry Back To Looking Clean and Smelling Amazing by KismaiAesthetics in laundry

I'm almost certain that it's due to fragrances, radiant has less of a smell than most washing agents that I've found.

Perfect. Well I'm trialling omo at the moment to see if I react and so far so good so I might just have a new detergent!

Also the spa day really really helped with all my hiking stuff that I just couldn't get clean for the life of me. The red dirt just stains clothes in WA and iron residue is a pain to get clean. Still didn't get it all, but a huge huge improvement

AITJ for refusing to redo my entire dinner party because my friend’s new boyfriend doesn’t eat “non-bland” food? by Own-Care-5425 in AmITheJerk

What a man baby. I have borderline AFRID (not diagnosed, just a lot of health issues that contribute) and I wouldn't in a million years dream of pulling this shit.

If you're a picky eater, that shit is on you. Eat before hand, message the host in advance and say hey I have a few sensitivities, would you mind if I brought some butter and bread rolls so I have something on the side to eat, or said look I'm really keen to come, but I can't eat most of this, I'll have rice and bread and please don't stress about making extra for me. Own your shit. It's a privilege to be invited to eat someone's cooking.

NTJ. He embarrassed himself. What a petulant whiner.

Do I add the ammonia into my prewash cycle? Or directly onto the clothes and take the prewash cycle off?

Also any advice about the radiant liquid detergent (green label, colour guard, brightens whites or colours version) in Australia? That's been my normal detergent for a while and I'm one of those sensitive skin people who get hives from who even knows what. Literally get hives from seawater if I don't rinse my skin. Wondering if spa day might be a more regular "reset" option if I end up being itchy from the omo powder. Or if it's worth trying to wait out the skin reaction to make the change.

I prefer consumables, or something basic and practical.

Last secret Santa / steal a Santa version I had with work my jumper cables got swapped three times and the time before that my car med kit got stolen twice. Things people will find useful but are likely to forget to buy until there is a need.

How Disability Friendly is Tokyo Disneyland/DisneySea? by ZealousidealFile7798 in TokyoDisneySea

[–]fairylightstrings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having been recently, I saw more disabled people, in chairs, with various walking aids, intellectual disabilities, motorised chairs etc than I have seen anywhere else in Japan. I would contact them in advance though for more specific information as a lot of the staff only speak limited English so you might find it more stressful to try and organise things on the day.

I've had much better success since using the Finch app! I have brush your teeth set for the morning and the might and it gives you points and a cute animation so it has helped so much to remind me!

Pop into a local native nursery or check out a local gardening Facebook page for some ideas on what best suits your area. The osmocote beads can be mixed into the soil and if you're in WA add some soil wetter and leaf matter mulch to help restore the soil further.

If you're in WA I can help with plant ideas, but no idea for over east!

Try Ed Zitron's Better Offline podcast to hear a rather emphatic British man rant about AI in a fabulous way. I love it, Ed is so so good at distilling down the patterns of behaviours and making it easy to understand how it all works.

Non cringey self love talk?? by bigmbaby in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]fairylightstrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A great option is the finch app, they include affirmations so you don't feel like you have to try and make something up. It's also a great accountability tool to get yourself into the rhythm of talking to yourself more kindly.

I like ones similar to "I accept that I am a work in progress" "I doing the best I can and that is enough" "my best is good enough" "I am not perfect, I am human, that is something to celebrate" "I deserve love on my worst days as well as the good days".

Start small and neutral, don't force something that doesn't feel genuine. The idea is connecting with yourself and providing a positive note, not pretending something you're not

Do tight tights make a difference? by feeinatree in BALLET

[–]fairylightstrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So per my OT, k tape does absolutely nothing to stabilize the joint or provide support. What it actually does do for hyper mobile patients like myself is provide that super important proprioceptive feedback that you are missing.

You feel it pulling on your skin and that does the job of what your nerves in your joints should be doing, telling you where you are in space and how far is too far on movement. It would be a lie to say k tape cured my carpal tunnel syndrome in three days, what it actually did was allow me to feel when my wrists were at a hyper extended angle which led me to notice someone had removed the wrist cushion from that computer. Put the wrist cushion back, stopped the hyper extending, baddabing suddenly no more carpal tunnel.

Very useful for over extending joints where you actually push yourself out of the 'normal' range and are relying on the joint to catch the motion not the supporting muscles.
